'But hey, let's talk about the current baby. Did she name Raph after his dad?'

'Collectively, seven. But I carried four of them. Cait's not sure if she wants another, or if she wants me to have the next one.' Vi smiled.

'I'd say no. But I don't know how to.' She chuckled.

Zombie Apocalypse Caitvi

Vi was in the middle of having her birthday cry (something she would’ve had even if there hadn’t been an apocalypse) when there was a knock at the door. It was a quiet, polite knock, leaving Vi to wonder who it was. Her siblings usually banged on the door, demanding of her attention in a way only younger siblings could do. While Vander was less demanding, he always announced himself, as if Vi wouldn’t immediately be able to know her father was at the door. 

Much to her surprise, it was Caitlyn Kiramman at her door, cheeks flushed from the cold outside, scarf wrapped tightly around her neck. On her head was a pair of bright purple earmuffs that looked a little funny. 

The two of them never interacted before the outbreak, despite attending the same high school. Cait being a year older and the daughter of a councilwoman was enough to make Vi a little weary. But being two of the only young women to survive the initial outbreak frenzy had forged a friendship between the two of them. 

If the outbreak hadn’t happened while Cait was home for summer break, she likely would’ve been stuck at college, and then Vi would really have no one to talk to - not to mention, Cait would probably be dead. 

On both counts, Vi considered herself lucky. She liked Cait. 

“Hi,” Vi said. She was also bundled up, despite having been inside all day - getting proper heating was difficult. “What are you doing here?” 

There was a strict curfew enforced at nightfall, something cumbersome to navigate during the short winter days. To be out past it, you needed special permission - whatever that meant or how you got it, Vi didn’t know. 

Cait shrugged as she began to rummage around in the messenger back slung across her body. “I snuck out.” 

…Or Caitlyn Kiramman happened to have a rebellious streak. This was new information. 

Vi blinked. “For…what?” 

The thought that Cait would take a risk like that just to see Vi seemed too good to be true. It also filled Vi’s stomach with butterflies.

Vi almost couldn't believe what she was hearing.

'Never thought I'd hear you talking about how great Shimmer was Cupcake.' She said awkwardly.

"So what do you think of the Pax Kiramman era for Piltover and Zaun so far? Is it everything you wanted? Independence, free health care, better living conditions?" Maddie asked Caitlyn leaning against the wall of the Firelight base. "Firelights are more popular now since Ekko is in the council. Hard to believe the woman sitting on the council brainwashed my former commanding officers."

Vi was still staring around her. This world was both wonderous, and yet, not quite right.

Caitlyn was correct, a lot of the things she had implemented were incredible.

But the way they had been done didn't sit well with her.

'It's almost everything.' She said softly. Still not qiite willing to stand close to this universe's version of the woman she loved.
