- Lu, lets cycle to Dun Laoghraire? - Let’s go!!!! Until last year, If someone invited me to cycle I would have to explain why I couldn’t cycle. (Long story...). If last week someone told me I would cycle 30km I would call them crazy. Last year, I saw myself living in a small town and the lack of things to do forced myself to try new hobbies to keep myself insane (yes, I love being busy! No, I can’t spend all my free time watching Netflix or chick flick YouTube collections). That was when I decided to learn to cycle. (No, not everyone learns to cycle when child). I got a Coca-Cola Bike card and started cycling every Saturdays, always inside the park, stopping every time someone was getting close, avoiding narrow paths, try to find the balance. On the second stage, I tried go to a quiet street beside the park, and after go to the many road. When on earth I would see myself cycling 30 kilometers in a bigger city. But I did it today. Of course the landscape helped keep moving. What a view! What a freedom! If I can give you one single advice, try to challenge yourself, try new hobbies, try to learn new things, even if small and simple like cycling. You will be surprised how much you can learn about your limits. #cyclelife #dublin #dunlaoghaire #summer #bike #challenge #learning #exercises (at Dun Laoghaire Pier West) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzBsbEICTxx/?igshid=17s83i1056ecs

Looks like Spring, feels like Winter. Ireland has a very unstable weather, a day can start sunny and hours after can snow (at least hail storm), then the rain comes and it gets cloudy until the sun appears again. All in a matter of few hours. The 5 degrees and the storms make it very difficult to believe it is Spring but the beauty of the blossom flowers proves the season is here. #dublin #ireland #spring #flowers #nature (at Kilmainham Gaol) https://www.instagram.com/nenirodriguesx/p/BwwED2bHvXS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ehvl7s4oli7m

Super Moon 2019. I am always fascinated by the moon. Contemplating her beauty and majesty behind the clouds reminds me that we always can shine bright anyway. And the day after can bring a more clear sky and everything will always be better. #supermoon #supermoon2019 #hope #nature #thanks #bethankful (at Dublin, Ireland) https://www.instagram.com/nenirodriguesx/p/BvVDByLneKD/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1h5ibqcbj9khd

Yes! This is a post office’s Christmas Decorations. Seems they really get into The spirit and mix bears, lights, crib, Christmas tree and Santa. All about Christmas? No, still something else to add... kindness. It’s was a very busy day, meeting at work, library, exams in one week, late work till midnight, yet had to go to pay the rent, probably I he (the attendant) could notice my tired face, I was completely in another world trying to define priorities and organize my schedule. - Next time organize the money before come to the counter? It took me out from my deep thoughts. What??? Still have to deal with rudeness? I looked at him and he smiled like “Yes, now I got her attention “. - You know I can’t give the money like that to my boss, don’t you? - he added. - But it is organized, all 50, 10 and 20 together- I replied. - No, they should be also facing at the same direction... look... - and with impressive skill, he quickly organized the notes - hummm, I see. Sorry, I promise next time I will do it. He didn’t answered, only winked at me. He was not giving out, well... probably he does expect customers bring the money organized and make his life easier. But his humor just softened my hard day at least for five minutes. #2018 #daythree #kindness #dublin #stillbelieveinhumanity #gpodublin (at GPO Dublin)

Up to the Arctic Circle
Tumblr media
What would be your best birthday present to yourself?
For my last birthday, I gave myself five days in Tromso.
Where is that? So, Tromso is at the very north of Norway and one of the cities to go to watch the Northern lights.
I flew from Dublin to Tromson with Norwegian Airlines after got a very good deals on tickets. I paid €118 on a return tickets in November 2016. There is no direct flight from/to Tromso, except to Oslo.
The city is very small, even though is considered the biggest city in the Arctic Circle. To get the city center from airport is very easy, you can just take a bus. But if you want to spend money, also can get a taxi.
Talking about money, get the pockets ready. As a Scandinavian country, Norway is a very pricey place.
For accommodation there are option of many Airbnb, hotels, only one hostel in town though. I had couchsurfing! And got a lift from the airport to place where I stayed.
There are many places to visit and see:
Tromso Tourist information Center: In city center, is a good place to check what to do or access WiFi. Also you can buy bus ticket, tours and souvenirs.
- Arctic Cathedral: Modern architecture, the church is beside the bridge and has a huge glass windows with religious paint.
- NordNorsk Gallery - Free entrance. Small gallery with some sculptures and paints. Very interesting.
-  The Polar Museum: Cost 60NOK or 80NOK if combined with Tromson Museum. Shows how is life in the Polar, the houses, food, sea life. Also tell the hunting history.
- Tromso Museum:  Cost 60NOK or 80NOK if combined with The Polar Museum. Interesting museum, tell the story of Tromso city, exposition of the clothes, habitat and history of Norway. Also has a section to explain how the Northern lights phenomenal happens.
- Perspektivet Museum: Free entrance. It is social museum, exhibits pictures of many rituals from different religious. Has interesting pieces like a stick, or a sand box. The visitors is invited to have their own perspective.
- Polaria: It shows the life of the sea animals in the Arctic. We can watch the sea lion training and food time. There try to focus on the importance of preservation and alert about the impact of the global warming for the Polar animals. Price 130NOK.
Telegrafbukta Beach: Nice place to seat and admire the sea, if it is not on the winter or if you are wearing warm clothes. Beautiful place for a walk.
Fjellheisen: Cable car to bring you up the Storsteinen mountain, which is 421 m above sea level. A bit pricey for four minutes ride, costs 170NOK return. You can have a view from whole city and go for a hiking. On winter is all covered by snow, still a nice activity (photo). During the Summer, you can walk up the mountain as well.
There are lots of other places to visit. Prices and opening times depends on the season.
