📷 Snapshot #2.5:

Knitting, Swings, and a Hint of Spring

The second half of the week rolled in like a gentle exhale. No more surprises, no more fires (literally), just the kind of quiet rhythm that lets you breathe again.

Maya made it her mission to knit her way through the grief — and drag every grandkid into it whether they liked it or not. Turns out Goca’s not too bad with the needles, even if she thinks pink yarn is "too baby." Lubko lasted about five stitches before declaring he had “urgent rocket science business” elsewhere.

There was a cozy family dinner too. Jake came over with Jasmine and Jax, and for once, no one fought over the last plate of tilapia. Maya even wore her flower cardigan and made a toast — holding her drink like a pro and not spilling it even once (we're all impressed).

Oh, and André? He was invited too. Lily didn’t stop smiling the whole evening, and neither did he. They even snuck off to the swings after dinner like teenagers. There’s just something about moonlight and puffer coats.

It wasn’t a big week, not in terms of events. But maybe it was big in the quiet ways. The kind of big that feels like: We’re going to be okay.

Nesh Family Snapshot #2

Week 12 (Part 1), Winter, Newcrest

Okay, so. Christmas in the Nesh household was supposed to be peaceful. Cozy. Maybe a little chaotic in the “oops we forgot to feed the dog before dinner” way — not in the “Toylerion died in the middle of opening gifts” kind of way.

And yet.

Yes, Toylerion passed away this week. On Christmas Day. And yes, I tried to stop it. I threw five death flowers at the Grim Reaper like I was in some kind of desperate, seasonal boss battle. But the man in the robe just stood there, doing absolutely nothing — literally for Sim hours. And Toy just… kept dying. Again. And again. And again.

In the end, I stopped fighting it. I let him go.

(There’s this glitch now — if you know, you know — where Grim just freezes during the death animation. When he finally asked what I wanted, I chose for Toylerion to stay in the world as a ghost I can’t control. It felt right. Life has its beginnings. And it has its endings.)

So. Toy’s gone. But Maya is still knitting. Lily is still cracking jokes. Lubko is still quietly falling apart in a corner. Goca aged up from toddler to child and immediately asked for a dog. So now we have Star, a scruffy rescue lab with the energy of a toddler and the ears of an angel.

And Lily—who, by the way, just lost her best friend and rock of a father — put on eyeliner, brushed her hair, and went on a date. With André. It was awkward. It was sweet. There was snorting. There may have been sparkles. We’re pretending it was totally normal.

This half-week was packed. So packed, I had to slice it in two. Next up: a proper goodbye to Toylerion Nesh — the guy who started it all.

Meet the Nesh Family

Snapshot Journal Begins – Week 12, Newcrest, Winter

Let’s start with the household that started it all — my first family in this save, the ones who built the bones of the town from scratch with basically zero skills and a lot of stubborn optimism: the Nesh family.

They live in a small house in Newcrest. Nothing fancy, but it feels lived-in. You know the type — wooden floors that creak, cozy clutter, one too many mugs on the counter. The kind of place where everyone has their favourite chair.

Toylerion (yes, that's a name and yes, he wears it well) is our founding elder. Dog lover, gardener, accidental astronaut, the kind of grandpa who fixes things before they break. Quiet but solid. The rock of the family.

Maya, his wife, is a garden witch in disguise. She talks to plants more than people, sings while she bakes, and will absolutely not let anyone else touch the stove. They’ve been together since before the town had roads, and somehow still bicker over who forgot to water the plants.

Their daughter Lily lives with them — bright, funny, emotionally squishy in the best way. She’s raising two kids of her own, Lubko (creative, a little dreamy, currently obsessed with fixing broken radios) and Goca (recently aged up, chaos in pink boots).

They’re not perfect, but they’re tight-knit and full of personality. The kind of family that keeps mismatched socks in a basket by the door and still makes pancakes on birthdays.

This week is when things start to shift — but more on that soon!

Maran Nesh: even if life is unfair, don't give up.

It's time to reminisce about the past. One of my most beloved characters is Ilmaran Nesh, who was part of the 6th generation of my Legacy Challenge. Despite growing up in a seemingly perfect family, Maran struggled with addiction, homelessness, and finding true love. His story was complex and relatable, and I still miss playing with this family.

Hey there, fellow Simmers! 🌟

I’m Olena. I’m originally from Ukraine but am now living in Winnipeg, Canada.

I’ve been playing The Sims 4 Legacy Challenge for about ten years, mostly sharing my adventures with a small local Sims community. But it’s time for something new and exciting!

This is my first attempt at writing stories in English, so please bear with me if it could be better. I’m eager to practice and improve with each post.
