If we (women of any orientation) want to encourage heterosexual women to consider and ultimately choose voluntary celibacy and separatism we have to do more than just talk about how much men suck. We have to build the spaces, the businesses, the networks. As Dworkin points out in Right Wing Women, women who go out into the workforce notice that they still don’t have access to the echelons and their attendant resources that men have, and that the only way to access those benefits is to partner with a man. If we just tell heterosexual women that men suck and offer no alternative opportunities for development, for companionship, for something better than mere survival, then of course some heterosexual women are going to think that separatism is meant to attack them rather than to liberate them.
To that end, I have started a Discord server for women who want to develop separatism for OSA women. Please DM me for a link.

Hello, @victoriawoodhullforpresident was a side blog, which made it difficult to interact with the radical feminist community, so I have made a main account. Many of you may have followed my folklore and animal studies focused blog. I am working on refollowing. I will be reblogging any of my posts which included content added by me.

They’re probably getting confused because she was opposed to Scottish independence. And somehow her being open about her disagreement about what is the best path forward for Scotland and presumably exercising her right to participate in a free election is fascist.
Gyns what’s your favourite batshit insane lie about JK Rowling, this is a contender for me

i’m seeing national media attention again for a case where a black man died, so i’d like to highlight two recent black femicide cases (within the last few weeks). i am frustrated by the consistent lack of coverage about the epidemic of violence against black women in america, so i want to raise awareness … content warning for horrible shit below.
in houston, texas, US, a two year old girl was beaten by her father, smashed in the face with a heavy object, and then strangled until she passed out. he did this over facetime so the mother could see. his motive? to punish the mother for leaving him. the baby girl died and the father is in custody. the mother, kairsten watson, allegedly reported her concerns about him to the cops three times in the weeks leading up to the baby’s murder and received the usual “sorry we can’t do anything” response. this story absolutely destroyed me and i genuinely pray that the state of texas does the only thing it’s good for and kills him.

erica atkins, an atlanta, georgia, US-area bookstore owner, educator, and philanthropist named was raped and murdered by her own employee, who then dumped her body. we don’t know much else about this case yet.

each year in the united states thousands of black women and girls are assaulted and murdered in their own communities by men they trust. this isn’t unique to black women, but it is a silent epidemic few want to discuss openly for fear of how it might reflect on “the race”. but we deserve better.
rest in peace baby watson and erica.

There was a post equating radical feminists with fascists that linked to several articles/think pieces about rising transphobia and the alignment between self-identified radical and gender critical feminists. I wanted to read all the articles before I responded but my efforts to save the post as a draft failed and of course I don’t remember on whose blog I saw it.
So I’m going to attempt to respond to what I remember.
First, I think there’s truth that there are some bad actors calling themselves feminists or gender critical while just hating trans people for being gender non-conforming or otherwise failing to comply with heterosexist norms. It does behoove us to call out these bad actors when we see them. I will be looking more closely at some organizations I have been supporting to see if they are dishonest about their purported aims or if they are making insupportable deals with the devil.
Somewhat related to that, I think the argument that sharing and collecting of “peak trans” stories is akin to “red pill” threads in MRA/white supremacist groups is worthy of consideration. I haven’t decided that I agree but I’m willing to think about it.
Here are some questions/concerns I have.
The argument that tying to delimit the category of woman (I will be using woman/women but also include girls) or define who is a woman is “essentialist” and therefore wrong, undermines the validity of all of liberatory movements. If people cannot acknowledge the shared characteristics they have and for which they are oppressed, nor the shared characteristics of the class that oppresses them, on what grounds can they organize to end their own oppression? If Black people argue that they are identified by comparatively high amounts of melanin and are targeted for oppression because of that, and that the people who oppress them are those with comparatively low amounts of melanin, isn’t that also essentialist? Or is it only women and same-sex attracted people who aren’t allowed to acknowledge their shared characteristics and organize for political change?
If sex isn’t observable in any meaningful way, how can one’s gender identity fail to match one’s birth sex? Why would a transgender person require medical and surgical interventions to get the body they are comfortable with? And if those interventions are necessary because of the transgendered person’s extreme discomfort with their body as it develops naturally, regardless of whether what upsets them are accurately described as primary and secondary sex characteristics, why aren’t cosmetic or “gender-affirming” surgeries for cis people with body dysmorphia also covered by insurance or the state?
If it is reasonable to ask whether desisters/detransitioners are authentically unhappy with the changes to their bodies or if they faced so much transphobia that they decided to go back into the closet, then why is it transphobic to ask whether the choice to transition is an actually an expression of your true self or a response to being a target of sustained misogyny and/or homophobia?
Given how understudied female bodies are in medicine, and how poorly educated most women are on their specific health needs, what does it mean for FtM individuals to give informed consent? Do they know that hysterectomy is linked to a variety of health concerns ranging from incontinence to dementia? How old does a child need to be to consent to the possibility that they may never experience an orgasm?
Finally, my political stance is based on the following observations: humans are a sexually dimorphic species, there is no third or hybrid gamete; that women are human females, meaning their physiology is organized around the production of large immobile gametes (even if some women are not actually able to produce said gametes due to age, trauma, or medical condition) and men, or human males, have physiology organized around the production of small, mobile gametes; the differences between females and males, in the vast majority of cases, are observable at birth to the naked eye; because these differences are immediately observable, medical personnel, families, and society at large will consciously or unconsciously adjust how they interact with the baby based on the observed sex from the moment of birth (or sonogram, if the technology is used); this interaction typically signals that those who are female are less important and meant to be decorative, subservient, and self-effacing, which is oppressive. I believe any efforts to disguise this (e.g., disaggregating trans women’s statistics when they are victims but not when they are perpetrators) or deny this (e.g., females aren’t oppressed, femininity is) or affirm that this is the correct social order (e.g., “women find fulfillment by submitting to their husbands) are anti-woman.
Because of socialization that discourages self-assertiveness and physical training, as well as inherent differences between post-pubertal women and men in matters of size, explosive strength, and explosive speed, women, as a class, are at a disadvantage if men choose to become physically violent. Difference in genital anatomy exacerbates this disadvantage because there is more risk involved with being penetrated than in doing the penetration. There is insufficient social disincentive to keep men from becoming violent with women and so they threaten or resort to violence to keep women in a subordinate position. Women need to be able to escape threats of male violence, which requires women-only spaces.

Out of a little bit of curiosity I posted on my Facebook saying that I don't agree with everything that women who are at the forefront (or trying to be) of the fight for women's rights etc say/leave out/do/don't do etc. That some appear to be grifters, anti-feminist, aligned with the far right, aligned with fascists etc. And the response I got was that I was misguided etc. I think it's delusional to think that we don't have some seriously bad apples in and around the gc movement or that all of us are actually gc. Some really are anti-trans and call detransioners mutilated and failed women (specifically directed at female desisters and detrans).

Collagen craze drives deforestation and rights abuses
For the first time an investigation has linked collagen powder to violence against Indigenous peoples in Brazilian forests
Tumblr media
The stench arrives before the lorries do. They are carrying skins that were stripped from cattle carcasses days ago. Flies are everywhere.
The lorries’ destination is Amparo, a small industrial town in São Paulo state, southeastern Brazil. Here, Rousselot, a company owned by the Texan business Darling Ingredients, extracts collagen – the active ingredient in health supplements at the centre of a global wellness craze.
But while collagen’s most evangelical users claim the protein can improve hair, skin, nails and joints, slowing the ageing process, it has a dubious effect on the health of the planet. Collagen can be extracted from fish, pig and cattle skin, but behind the wildly popular “bovine” variety in particular lies an opaque industry driving the destruction of tropical forests and fuelling violence and human rights abuses in the Brazilian Amazon.
An investigation by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, the Guardian, ITV and O Joio e O Trigo has found that tens of thousands of cattle raised on farms damaging tropical forests were processed at abattoirs connected to international collagen supply chains.
Some of this collagen can be traced all the way to Nestlé-owned Vital Proteins, a major producer of collagen supplements championed by the actress Jennifer Aniston. Vital Proteins is sold globally – including online on Amazon, in Walmart stores in the US, in Holland & Barrett and Boots in the UK and in Costco in both countries.
The investigation – the first to connect bovine collagen with tropical forest loss and violence against Indigenous peoples – found at least 2,600 sq km of deforestation linked to the supply chains of two Brazil-based collagen operations with connections to Darling: Rousselot and Gelnex, which is in the process of being acquired by Darling for $1.2bn. It is unclear how much of this deforestation, which was calculated by the Center for Climate Crime Analysis, is linked to Vital Proteins.

Okay fucking listen up because I thought this was like pop culture common knowledge by now but I still see people acting like it isn’t.
1. Emotion and logic are not opposites.
Emotion is an essential part of cognition. If you are trying to quarantine it out of your reasoning, you are likely to be less logical, not more.
Trying NOT to feel your feelings makes you irrational. You have to actually feel and acknowledge them to be able to perform complex reasoning.
2. Being apathetic about a subject does not make you a logical, rational arbiter of that subject.
Just because you don’t believe something directly affects you, you are not actually an objective observer and judge of it.
Ignorance and apathy are not the same as reasoned objectivity.

This first requires establishing whether a fœtus is separate from the pregnant woman or a part of her. The anti-choice position is usually predicated on the fœtus being a distinct entity with its own rights. The pro-choice movement tends to have various positions on this, with some arguing that it is a separate entity but has no right to be a parasite on an unwilling woman. Others would argue that it is part of a woman, and therefore she has the right to remove it just as any other type of unwanted growth.
At the point that we can safely remove a fetus from a woman and grow it in an incubator, i will become prolife.
If a prolifer really wants EVERY fetus born, this is the technology they should be working on.
