Isabel giggled softly at his comment, her eyes turning to peer at the sky above them. The warmer the weather got, the more she wanted to be outside, and it seemed to work well for her this time. “You should start charging people. Five bucks a pop.”

Val lifted the bottle to his lips again and nodded a little as he sat and crossed his legs under him. “You know that’s not a bad idea. Hell I can start an Only Fans or something, have people subscribe” He noted with a grin.

Flint simply shrugged his shoulders, letting them touch his ears for a long moment before they dropped back down. “Just don’t tell anyone I’m capable of being nice. That’s when people start taking advantage, and I hate that shit.”

“Don’t worry....your secret is safe with me” He laughed softly, shaking his head, “I agree, I’m not about the whole taking advantage.” He nodded. “So you gonna buy me that drink now?” He motioned to the door with a laugh

She couldn’t help the giggle that left the back of her throat at Valerio’s comment, her head shaking in his direction. “Then I suppose I’m a fool. Just strap me to a chair and parade me in front of the Festival of Fools, really.” But, as the moment turned more serious, so did her expression, though the smile stayed in her eyes. “I have no idea what to do,” she admitted, gaze finally turning to where she was picking at her own fingers. “I’ve never done anything like this before, y’know? I’d never even kissed anyone; life has just always been about ballet.”

“Then I’ll be paraded by your side through the whole town” He smiled softly, reaching up to run his fingers through her hair lightly. A slow sigh left his lips, “It’s a bit of an impasse..” He murmured, more to himself than to her, though he knew she’d likely agree with the statement. Her next words took him by surprise, the shock showing on his face. “What? You mean...I was your first kiss?” He rubbed the back of his neck and let out a nervous laugh. “Was it okay...I mean, had I known that I would’ve...I dunno...made it better?” He let out another chuckle

Izzie gave Val a pointed look, lifting her finger to aim it in his direction. “Firstly, if your ass was hanging out, I would look respectfully. You’ve got what we call a Peach Bottom, so we should only be so lucky to catch a glimpse.” A grin spread wide on her features as she said this, clearly teasing. You deserve more recognition than you get.”

“Well thank you, I do work hard on my ass, lots of squats and leg presses went into forming this peachy shape” He laughed and shook his head, running a hand through his hair. “You’re right, anyone would be lucky to get a free look”

He let out a soft snort, eyes still trained on his best friend as he gave a gentle nod. “All jokes aside, though? I’m proud of you. Proud of you and everything that you’ve accomplished thus far in life. You’re talented, Val.”

“Yeah?” Val rocked back on his heels and smiled a little before shaking his head. “Thanks man...really that means a lot.” He clapped him on the shoulder. “Especially coming from you, you’re like family and all”

The motion was comforting, the tug of his fingers against her dark strands causing a hum to leave the back of her throat. “You’re a fool,” she whispered, though the smile on her face let him know that she was teasing him, her thumb brushing against the corner of his jaw now. However, as he sat back, Odie let her hands fall to her lap, her eyes practically sparkling as she watched him. “Did you know this is the first time I’ve ever let myself openly want something? My whole life has been one compromise after the other. That’s why I’m so scared about upsetting Vivienne; because I don’t want to give you up as a sacrifice to her happiness. Because then I’d be giving up my happiness, too.”

“That makes you a fool too” He murmured softly, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he leaned into her hands a little until they dropped into her lap. “I’ve never....properly wanted someone the way I do with you” He admitted with a sigh. “Sure...I’ve had flings and been interested in people here and there but it’s fleeting normally. Things are just...different with you”  He murmured as he chewed on the inside of his cheek. “So...what do we do now?”

“Did he want you to be a plumber?” she muttered, letting her head fall back against the chair, a smirk playing on her lips. “Because I can’t picture you as a plumber, unfortunately for him.” She reached over, her hand patting his shoulder. “It would take a blind man to not see how hard you work every single day.”

“Some shit about ‘following the family business as the next man in line’ or whatever” He rolled his eyes. “What, can’t imagine me bent over looking at some pipes with my ass half way out my jeans” He snorted before taking a swig from the bottle. “Thanks Iz, really.”

“Hurting people is my specialty, my friend. Breaking hearts is the equivalent of breathing air for me; I must continue.” Flint flicked Val’s lip gently before he chuckled, moving to stuff his hands into his pockets. “thank you for admiring my sarcasm skills. Means a lot to me, really.”

“I thought what we had was special, don’t go cheapening these memories I have of us together” He sighed dramatically, making a face and swatting at Flint’s hand. “Oh I know it. Gotta make sure to flatter you now and then”

“hey!” she said with a laugh as the water sprinkled onto her hand. “that’s just not nice, you should be gentler with her or incur her wrath.” but viv was joking. she was happy they were paired up and hoped they would continue to benefit one another. odie definitely danced the best with val, and viv liked seeing someone who wasn’t just out to get in her brother’s pants. he deserved a partner that actually cared about the art. “I know.” she said sadly, “they don’t understand, but that doesn’t mean they’re right. you’re great, val, and nobody should make you feel bad for following your passion.”

“What can’t handle a little splash.” He snorted before shaking his head. “Yeah, yeah...she’ll survive it. And if she does start with the wrath I’ll just....hide her shoes on the highest shelf” He snorted “Then again she might end up unaliving me for that one” He shrugged a shoulder before grabbing the towel and drying his hands off as he turned to lean back against the counter. “They shouldn’t but....god do they try their best to remind me that they’re disappointed in me every chance they get”

“I wouldn’t say I doubted it, but I guess if you want to put it into technical terms…then yes. I doubted it.” He smiled widely at his own confession, clearly satisfied with his own answer. “Rough around the edges? What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Why must you hurt me in these ways” He stuck his lip out a little before laughing a little and shaking his head. “You’re just king of sarcasm which not everyone always is on the same level with. Lucky for you, after many years you’re stuck with me, rough edges and all”

A soft, almost sad sigh left the back of Odie’s throat as Val pressed his forehead to hers. Her fingers fiddled gently with the hair at the back of his neck, eyes trained on her own legs, teeth biting at the inside of her lip. “See that,” she began, a smile threatening to play at her lips, eyes lifting to meet his. “That makes you a fool right there. Are you aware that I can barely meet middle row shelves in the grocery store? Or that I wear Disney princess pajama bottoms to sleep? Surely you could find someone much better.”

“What?” He laughed softly as he let his own hands move to slowly run through her hair, “Then I’ll be a fool.” He shrugged. “I’ve been called much worse over the years, and if wanting you makes me a fool then so be it” He sat back just a little. “I don’t care about all that..” He said softly, bringing his hands to cup her face to lift it so he could meet her eyes. “I don’t agree with that...not at all” His brows furrowed while his thumbs traced her cheeks.

Star took a moment to look Val over playfully before nodding in agreement.  “Yes, I have to agree that you absolutely were.  If we were put next to each other in an advertisement, I think we’d cause some fainting.”  She absently ran her fingers through her own locks, shaking her head a little.  “I don’t remember ever really having it short.  I keep it healthy, getting trims a couple times a year, but I guess it’s sort of become a security blanket,”

“Throw my sister in there we could have a whole modeling trio with everyone after us to try and sign us” He chuckled and nodded. “I think this is the longest I’ve let mine get in a while...mostly out of sheer laziness” He smirked before nodding. “I can see how it would be”

Izzie’s hand grabbed the bottle before she could politely decline, already drawing the liquid to her lips, eyes trained on Val as he spoke. “Kinda cliche of him, don’t you think? It’s twenty-twenty-one, for god’s sake. Men going into the world of professional dance has been a thing for years; it sounds like your parents need a swift kick in the ass. Fragile masculinity isn’t cute.”

“What can I say he’s all blue collar manly man” He rolled his eyes and snorted. “He’d never last a day doing the shit I do though, not that he’d ever see it as more than me prancing around in a tutu or whatever he’s thinking it is” He shook his head.

All this time I’ve thought they only kept you around because you were a pretty face with decent muscle; there is a difference, I assure you.” A bare minimum difference, but one nonetheless, and that was a hill Flint would happily die on. “I feel like I would break a ballerina in half if I just looked at them funny, so props to you for being able to do what you do.”

“Hey! You doubted my talent all this time? That hurts man, cuts deep” He placed a hand dramatically over his chest. “Well you might. You’re rough around the edges and all�� He teased before shaking his head. “I will accept these props”

luke chuckled, glad he had found someone who clearly could keep pace with him. he copied the other, downing his own beer before responding. “think you can keep pace all night?” he was challenging, joking, but also looking forward to the other agreeing. it’d lead to a good night.

“I know I can keep pace. I’ve been doing this for a while now.” He smirked slightly. “I know how to handle my liquor” He added, clapping his hands together. “So what’s next”

as he passed the joint over to valerio, sawyer accepted the bottle. it wasn’t always his style to drink straight from the bottle, but it seemed like a good idea right now. he threw it back, grimacing as the less-than-chilly liquor burned his throat. “delicious,” he croaked with a laugh and a shake of his head. despite his adverse reaction, sawyer threw his head back a second time, this time reacting less since he knew what to expect. “so what was so bad that made you drink this shit?”

Val inhaled slowly and held his breath for a moment before releasing it. “It’s not shit it’s an acquired taste” He chuckled a little as he shook his head, pulling his knees up to rest his arms on them. “Just family shit. Nothing I didn’t expect but here I was stupidly hoping for something different”

“Yeah...at least there’s that” he chuckled a little and took another swig from the bottle. “Got my sister too...she supports me as much as she can”
