Photo session of the Dutch royal family postponed after Princess Amalia's arm was broken

The royal family's summer photo session will not take place on Thursday. Following Princess Amalia's broken arm, the photo shoot has been postponed until June 30, the Government Information Service announced on Wednesday.

Amalia broke her upper arm on Tuesday after falling from her horse. She underwent surgery on Tuesday evening. The procedure went well, but the princess will have to stay in hospital until Thursday at least.

Queen Máxima has largely cleared her schedule on Wednesday to be with her eldest daughter. The queen was supposed to attend a conference of the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP) and the opening of the Holland Festival, both in Amsterdam. King Willem-Alexander will now go to the Holland Festival alone.

Princess Amalia breaks arm after falling from horse and undergoes surgery

Princess Amalia broke her upper arm on Tuesday after falling from her horse. This was reported by the Government Information Service (RVD). The Princess of Orange is undergoing surgery at the UMC Utrecht.

More information will follow as soon as it is clear whether Amalia's broken upper arm will affect her official obligations and other appointments.

This is the first time that Amalia has broken something, as far as we know. Princess Alexia broke her right upper leg in 2016 during a skiing holiday in Lech, Austria. Princess Ariane broke her wrist in February 2018 while skating.

Princess Ariane has completed her International Baccalaureate exams at the United World College Adriatic. Today marks the end of the exam period for the school. The results of the exams are expected in early July.
