i feel like Filipinos unconsciously live with hero complexes. that's why we take pride in our resilience and the sacrifices we do for our family. better to help than be helped. instead of expecting society, government, other people to help us through, we choose herculean ways to have a better life to a fault. sadly I'm not sure how to reframe that centuries old mindset.
