//Continuation of this for @freedomwisp
"Things happen, life often gets in the way. There's many reasons for you to have vanished when you did, and I don't blame you for a single one." The yaksha stated, determination filling his tone.
"Besides, you had a lot of big feelings to deal with. It's not like you just decided that being a god was becoming boring and faked your death." Unlike a certain other god. That comparison, however, never left the yaksha's lips. As mad and hurt as Xiao may have been by Morax's actions, the other was still his master.
"And, of course I waited. I'll wait as long as it takes. These things are two-way streets, after all. If you can be patient with all of my issues, I can be patient with you needing time and space to yourself."

Punishment Symbol Prompts
Send me a symbol for your muse to inflict one of these methods of pain, neglect, or suffering. Trigger warnings ahead for … basically, all kinds of unpleasant manipulation, torture, and such. Feel free to make suggestions for a possible part two!
🔒 Lock my muse up in a small cage or a cell
🤢 Force my muse to eat or drink something disgusting/something they hate.
🖊 Write something insulting on my muse’s body, and make them wear it there all day
💀 Starve my muse (or for supernatural muses, deprive them of feedings).
👄Feed on my muse or harvest blood/energy/etc from them (if the sender has a supernatural muse)
⛓ Tie my muse up with chains against a wall.
👂 Torture my muse with insults, cruel words, and verbal threats
🎀 Use ropes to tie up my muse to any surface.
❄ Torture my muse with intense cold
☀ Torture my muse with intense heat
🥈(for supernatural muses) Press or threaten to press silver/iron against my muse’s body to hurt them
🔪Make cuts or punctures on my muse’s body
📷Photograph or videotape my muse being injured or tortured however you see fit
🛁Submerge my muse in water (of any temperature) with the possibility of drowning them
⭕ (for supernatural muses) Make a ring or seal around my muse so they cannot escape.
💔Drain my muse’s blood (a bit or a lot)
😴Force my muse to stay awake when they’re very tired
🥊Throw punches at my muse while they are cuffed or tied up and cannot fight back
💡 Check up on my muse after leaving them alone in the dark, in silence, for hours or even days
😫Threaten and frighten my muse with things that scare them
🔮Use magic to bind my muse, hypnotize them, or make them a slave
🔥Burn my muse with candles, wax, matches, or a lighter flame held near the skin.
🚬Press a burned cigarette end onto my muse’s skin
📌Shove needles or pins into my muse
☕Throw scalding liquid on my muse.
and as a bonus…
🗡Give my muse the option to face up to three tortures on this list, or else they have to hurt someone they love

"Thank you, I'll get right to it." Xiao replied as he took the paper, a grateful expression on his face. Focusing on the flowers and making everything look good would certainly do him well, it'll keep his mind off the events, off the feeling of the heat and the orange blaze.
He appreciated the kind gesture too, all but leaning into it, or asking Diluc for a hug- he'd think about the comfort later, maybe. If he allowed himself that much vulnerability. "And uhm- just, thank you for everything. I- it feels good to know someone is still looking out for me."
Most people would have left him on the streets precisely because his life had been threatened, Xiao reasoned in his head. But, then again, he supposed Diluc wasn't just anyone. No, he was someone Xiao trusted with his life without so much as a second thought.
At the question, he nodded, he still remembered everything Diluc had taught him. Those skills quickly replaced his previous ones, as he'd used them, in a way, to suppress his training and instincts. After all, arranging and cutting flowers was a much nicer, and safer, hobby than taking lives.
"Yeah, I still remember how, don't worry, just give me the measures you need and the flowers." He stated with a small smile. "Besides, working may do well in keeping me out of having a full-blown panic attack or something over all this." He reasoned.

Protective prompts:
“Get behind me.”
“Hold my hand, okay? It’s gonna be over soon.”
“Close your eyes for me love.”
“When I say run, I need you to do as I say without looking back and don’t wait for me.”
“It’s all going to okay, they would never hurt you again.”
“I swear to you, that as long as I’m alive I won’t let a single soul ever harm you.”
“Listen to me. . . take deep breaths, yes follow my breathing just like that. There’s no need to panic, I’m right here now, aren’t I? You’re safe.”
“When you love something, you protect it with your entire life at stake, and right now, my guts tell me to do the same.”
“I’ll be back very soon, but don’t come out. Stay there hidden until I come back and try not to make a noise, hmm?” *forehead kisses being a must here*
“I’m so so sorry! I wish I would’ve never left you alone! If I knew this would happen, I would never leave you alone.”

DRAMATIC & PROTECTIVE RELATIONSHIP PROMPTS * for the ones who want to keep you safe from harm
get behind me.
go inside and lock the door and don't come out until i say so.
are you all right? where are you hurt?
over my dead body.
i promised them i'd keep you safe.
i sleep better when you're next to me.
are you serious? i'm not letting you risk your life.
don't go. it's safer here.
i should have been here. this is my fault.
here. take this gun. don't pull the trigger unless it's absolutely necessary.
they told me to watch you.
i won't let anyone lay a hand on you.
stay close to me.
i'm not worth saving. please.
can you stay? just for a little while? it would help.
it's too dangerous out there.
i thought i'd lost you.
can you hear me? hello? where are you?
they're all afraid of me.
they told me you'd be trouble. clearly that was an understatement.
one of us has to make it out of here.
is that a bruise?
get back. get back right now.
did they touch you?
i already lost you once. i'm not going to lose you again.
a few more steps. we're nearly there. i've got you.
where does it hurt? let me see.
oh my god, you're covered in blood.
i love you, but you have to go.
climb on my back. i'll carry you.
i wish you'd stay.
i slept here all night. i couldn't leave you.
stay with me. i can keep you safe.
no. i've made my decision. you're staying here.
holy shit. are you okay? what the hell happened?
we have to get inside right now.
quick! hide! in here!
if they know you're with me, they'll leave you alone.
if they attack again, we'll be ready.
this never should have happened.
i want you to run, okay? run and don't look back.
you're all right. you're safe. it's over.
i'll feel better once you're out of this.
i don't have nightmares when you're here.
where have you been? i've been calling you all night.
your phone went straight to voicemail. what's going on?
i don't want anything to happen to you.
i can't stand the thought of losing you.
i won't let them touch you.
when we met, i promised myself i'd keep you safe.
where'd they go? i'll give them a piece of my mind.
here. squeeze my hand if it hurts.
i'll lay beside you.
no. it's non-negotiable. you're staying here.
i don't want you to die, okay?
listen to me! i know what i'm doing!
i can't lose you again!
do you hear me? i love you! i've always loved you.
i've got you. i'm right here.
can i stay? i'll take the couch.
tell them you're with me.
you can make it. i believe in you.
are you kidding me? who decided this?
here, i'll pick you up.
get back in the car. i'll handle this.
if anyone can do it, it's you.
let me carry you to safety.
i don't do well when you're away.

characters who view themselves as tools/weapons first and people second... characters who martyr themselves for a cause because they think that's the only way they can be worth something... characters who push themselves past their breaking point again and again and again... characters for whom devotion and masochism are inseparable... characters whose self-sacrifice becomes self-annihilation...... what was my point again? i had a point. anyway.

Most people would have left him on the streets precisely because his life had been threatened, Xiao reasoned in his head. But, then again, he supposed Diluc wasn't just anyone. No, he was someone Xiao trusted with his life without so much as a second thought.

Gods, Diluc really was too kind do him, it made Xiao almost feel bad about the entire thing, about causing the man so much trouble. After all, he was still in the process of learning that he was allowed to need things just as much as anyone else.
It made small gestures like this, simple offerings of help with no conditions outright stated, no work to be done or masters to be pleased to earn them, mean that much more to the young man. "I- thank you." He replied, a tiny, barely noticeable smile creeping its way onto his face, conveying the immense gratitude he felt. "No medication, no. I stopped taking the stuff my psychiatrist prescribed after we realized I was allergic to it and am yet to get a new prescription, so." He added after a moment of thought.
Technically- sleep medicine was something he was supposed to be taking, but, Xiao didn't like the idea of being unable to wake up in a moment's notice. "Thank you so, so much. For all of this. And um- if it's okay, could I stay here until you close? I can just stay in the staff room, or try to help out in the front." He offered, feeling kind of bad for just... Getting all this help.

Xiao only gave a small nod at the question, feeling grateful that Diluc wasn't pushing for more information. The tension slowly melted from his body thanks to the gentle squeeze, though some still remained for the time being.
"Thank you, really, I- didn't know where else to go, didn't know where else I'd be safe." He muttered out. Diluc was pretty much the only friend he had here, and he didn't feel like taking extra risk in an unfamiliar hotel, especially if whoever did this realized they hadn't quite gotten him.
He shook his head no at the follow-up question, letting out a small sigh. "No, I- I got lucky. I was already outside when the place went up in flames. Though- I'm fairly certain that they thought I was inside still and burnt with the house, considering there'd been no follow-up attacks yet." He replied.

Xiao followed after Diluc, ever grateful that the other was as observant as he was, and that he was willing to just do things privately instead of insisting on having to know everything first before going somewhere private like some of his other friends.
Upon closer inspection, the way Xiao carried himself was even more closed off than usual, with one arm holding his other bicep tightly, and entire body pressed together and tense, like he was trying to make himself as small as possible, and he was shivering, whether from all the events or just the cold, he really didn't know.
"I uhm- no, not really." He replied to the question after they were inside, away from the possible people. "My place got burned down early in the morning, I've... Been wandering around outside ever since. I wanted to ask- could I stay with you for a bit, at least until I found somewhere else to stay?" He asked, voice almost pleading.
Please, don't let me go through this alone, I'm scared. He wanted to say, but it was left unspoken for now, though, he was sure his eyes said those words just fine.

MY MUSE IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT
Please keep in mind that, however hard my muse may argue something or however confidently they make a statement, they can be wrong. It’s my muse’s opinion, and my muse talking, and their perception is skewed. Do not feel like everything out of my character’s mouth is the truth, or that I’m godmodding.

"Happy Valentine's day, Xiao," Ayaka smiled, bending down to kiss the diamond on his forehead before squishing his cheeks gently.
No sooner had Ayaka's lips touched his forehead, had a bright blush erupted across his face, an unrestrained, delighted little giggle leaving him, so unlike the usual, held back ones. And when he opened his eyes again, they were still so full of joy and adoration. "Ah- thank you. Happy Valentine's day to you, too, Aya." He stated.
His hand dug around his pocket for a moment, before he pulled out a small, ornate box, offering it to them, and within it a small bracelet made of starsilver and blue Akoya pearls, imbued with his own protective energy and a general adeptal energy.

//Plotted starter for @touchofdawn!
Well, Xiao's day so far had been just perfect. First he couldn't sleep at all, then when he'd decided to take a walk in the morning with nothing but his phone and wallet on him, only wearing a thin, teal hoodie over a white, sleeveless crop top, a pair of light jeans and sneakers, which was, admittedly not the best idea in the still cold weather these days, some genius from his past managed to figure out where he lived and burnt the entire place down, probably hoping he burned with all his stuff.
Really, Xiao couldn't have asked for a worse day it seemed, so now, he set off towards the only place that he knew he could get helped in, to the only person he could trust, in the flower shop he'd worked in part time. He entered with a frown on his face, looking around, hoping to see Diluc around.
"Hey uhm- got a moment?"

“I’ll get some bandages.”
This was bad, there was no other way to put it. He'd been caught so off-guard, outnumbered at least ten-to-one, but at the moment he was too delirious to count the Abyss Heralds that had surrounded him.
He'd won the fight, he had to, but it didn't mean he got out unscathed. And now, he was close to passing out in an area completely unfamiliar to him, glowing teal pouring from numerous injuries and vision swimming with pain from his karma and wounds alike, ears ringing so loudly they blocked out most of the noise, including his ragged breathing as he tried to clutch at his chest and waist, where the two worst injuries were. And he could barely make out a voice and a shadow over himself.
Had they come to finish him off? To deliver the fimal blow where their comrades had failed? No, that- for some reason that didn't seem right. Not when the word 'bandages' was the only thing he made out in his haze.
