finally got around to watching the hear me out cake videos and there’s this part where virgil put the g note from black parade on there and he looks directly into the camera to say “my favorite band, mcr” and it just pisses me off bc it so blatant in the pandering bc he’s basically going “look guys, i changed virgil’s favorite band because so many of you want it to be mcr, fuck what he said in older videos this is what it is now you’re welcome”

Thomas is definitely fishing for compliments. He wants his fans to tell him he looks almost exactly the same, and that only a little has changed. And, more importantly, how they'll patiently wait for the finale. Even if it takes forever. And, that comes from his ego, of course, but also denial.

Thomas seems to have this idea in his mind that he can put down Sanders Sides, leave it for years, then pick it back up and have it completely untouched by time. Which is, quite frankly, a bit delusional. The only reason he still looks like the sides is because, he's the same actor. He has a different haircut, a beard, and most importantly... he's older. Thomas isn't a 20-something or even in his early thirties anymore. Sure, 36 isn't that old. It's still pretty young, but he's not going to be able to slot himself into the role of "young adult guy just trying his best", because he's not a young adult anymore. He's a full-fledged adult now, and he looks like one. Which, isn't a bad thing, but he needs to start acting like one too.

And, Thomas knows that. If this tweet and this video are anything to go by, he might be finally getting a grip. Or, at least, realizing he can't ignore the problem forever. The rose tint on his glasses is starting to fade, and he's seeing himself the way the rest of us see him.

I don't think he likes what he sees.

Thomas tweeted "One struggle I did not see coming was dealing with how my appearance/body has changed and whether or not I *look* like my own characters. Did not expect this type of body incongruence."

Wow after three years of being unable to portray your characters as they actually are rather than the fanon version (arguably canon now with how much influence that has had) for more than a couple minutes because you only want the 8 minute mark so youtube will let you put adds and therefore get revenue.

You wonder why things have changed? After 3 YEARS of nothing more than silly little sketches that took at most 10 minutes of your time where you arguably didn't put that much thought on how the characters looked then, you wonder why you don't look the same AFTER 3 YEARS of actively ignoring the series. It's as if the human body aged and changed as time goes by, who would've guessed! And of course you want to look the same because your series that you are allegedly going to continue has a timeline you feel you must match because YOU left it there because of your poor managment skills. How could you POSSIBLY not expect that type of body incongruence, in what world did you think i will look exactly the same as i did since the last episode.

That’s the second time he’s posted something like that, and while I do think it comes from a real insecurity, it also feels like he’s fishing for praise from his die-hard fans.

And it’s like… jeez. If only he were four years younger, right? Imagine if he’d made this episode back then, when it actually should’ve come out. Wild thought.
