Something about the cc-ifitcation of fanartists in the mcyt fandom is bothering me. you are a fanartist, you make fanart, you are not a content creator. stop trying to be one

there is something horrifically grim to it, but illustrations for gaza and palestinians tend to catch more mass attention that actual photos of people. this made me feel incredibly helpless for a long while, seeing both how people would rather look at a neat drawing of red black green and white than look a human in the eyes, and how online platforms would rather push a viral drawing while suppressing those begging for help at the same time.

a way to cope with this feeling has been taking advantage of it to directly guide people to helping palestinians.

if art gets better traction, then there’s an incredible amount of good that can be done by creating art that immediately links to fundraisers. creating art of the many images of those who are asking for help.

within hours of posting my drawing, there has been jumps in the thousands for bashar from gaza’s fundraiser. it’s a small effort in the grand scheme of things. it’s not a fix it. but it’s something good. please take care of each other and do what you can. i think this could help a lot of people if a lot of people did it.

Hello everyone

I’m Malk I’m 14 years old but I am feeling that am 70 years😔

My parents took great care of us, giving us everything they had, and my childhood was wonderful to some extent.

I lived through four wars, the latest being in 2021, during which we lost everything: our warm home and my mom's office where she worked in digital marketing.

My dad is one of the owners of the Jewel Tower, but my family decided to leave Gaza for Turkey in 2022 because the tower hadn't been built yet, and to provide a better life for us.

My dad couldn't leave Gaza, so he returned before the war because my grandfather is sick and needs care. I wish I were with my dad because I fear losing him.

The past few months have been the hardest for us and our family.

Israeli forces storm the Rafah crossing this morning (May 7, 2024)

This is a very serious development.

As of this morning, the Israeli forces have stormed the Rafah crossing, the only way for Gazans to cross in or out of Gaza.

This means that no one, not even the wounded with permits to leave for treatment, are allowed to leave.

On top of that, no aid, food or medical kits, or aid workers will be able to get in either.

Everyone is trapped.

While Israel invades and burns down the small area of Rafah.

With millions crammed in it.

This is what Israel is doing, and it is in continuation of its accelerated genocide for the past 7 months. We find ourselves at this point because Israel was allowed to massacre and starve and maim Palestinians with complete impunity.

Those letters reference the same series! I usually prefer Jibaku Shonen Hanako-Kun, because it is usually less boggling than the english manga of Toilet Bound Hanako-kun. I am particularly more obsessed with side characters, but our protagonist is a girl named Nene, who meets a ghost boy in the bathroom when she summons him, because she heard that he grants wishes. The thing is, in order to contact ghosts, you have to be one of three things: a ghost yourself (also coined as 'supernaturals' interchangeably, depending on how much knowledge you have), an exorcist born with the ability, or a human with a dangerously short lifespan. Nene, at 16, is one of those humans. We follow her and 'Hanako-kun', as she names him, throughout the experiences of her learning she will die soon, how that connects her to the people in the manga, and how it similarly connects her to the supernatural realm, and all of its misadventures. On the way, she falls in love with Hanako, and we are forced to dive deeper into the idea of loving someone that is already dead, and what that means. (Not to mention the reason why Hanako is still around in the first place.) It's definitely very lighthearted and silly and romantic, but also explores the idea of what it means to make the most of something while you have it, and just what makes someone human. It plays around a lot with mortality and morals, and grief narratives which I LOOOOOVE so much. If you enjoy dark themes addressed along with silly moments and extremely dysfunctional relationships, as well as the concept of ghosts, rumors, and worldbuilding, I reccommend it!!! But I do advise being careful because the humor can be vulgar at times (AidaIro tends to leverage the 'perverted highschool boy' trope with Hanako pretty solidly throughout the chapters that you first get to know him and it can get uncomfortable.)
