Knowing our Arcanists 9: Eagle

Welcome to entry nine of my series: "Knowing our Arcanists"! This is a series in which I introduce and tell the stories of our fellow characters in Reverse: 1999. This week's character is: Eagle!

Gotta love the baby of the people. I hope she knows that she's very well loved by the entire R1999 community, and deserves all that love. Lets get started.

Eagle is an American arcanist born in the 1900s on July 21st. She was born and raised in Washington, D.C. She also lived in proximity to Virginia, USA, and occasionally visited there. Despite her weak power, her arcane skill is involved in being able to perceive her environment in greater detail.

She was raised in a relatively normal and loving home, and had a passion in wanting to join the Boy Scouts like how her father was once part of the military. This passion was further amplified after her father passed away.

The Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910, and many young boys were eager to join it. Many donned the green uniforms and saluted towards the flag. However, many girls like Eagle had been turned away for their gender and the organization's preference for this newfound generation of boys. Her being turned away by the BSA did not stop Eagle, though. (Note: the Girl Scouts of the USA was founded by Juliette Gordon Law. But unfortunately, Eagle missed news of it due to being away at the time.)

She tried her best to prove her worth as a Boy Scout, doing numerous tasks a boy scout would do in her hometown and even possibly having made her outfit similar to a boy scout's own. She put little time in resting and continuously worked hard to at the very least be recognized.

On one fateful day in 1912, the Boy Scouts were missing a character named "Xavier," and Eagle overheard of the news. Still determined, she decided to search for this "Xavier" on her own, despite lacking information as to who "Xavier" is. At some point in the day, she encounters a boy in an abandoned factory named X.

X was no Boy Scout, but he allowed Eagle to help him with his task, which ended up being a controlled demolition of this factory. This demolition caused some animals to panic, including a dog that quickly found its way to X and Eagle. It was then discovered that "Xavier" was a missing dog, and that a pair of other boy scouts were looking for him.

Eagle and the Boy Scouts went back and forth with who found the dog, but ultimately ended with the fact that the Eagle did find him. However, the Scout Leader wouldn’t award her unless she brought X to vouch for her, but she couldn’t do so because she had no idea where he went.

Dejected, she went to the graveyard and mourned her late father. Soon, X arrived, claiming that he and Eagle's father were once colleagues, and that Eagle was just like him; cautious, determined. X offered her to join the Institutum Lorentz, and left her to think.

Prior to this, another man who also knew her father had offered her that same path, and had left Eagle conflicted. She ultimately decided to accept the offer, which put her and her mother under the Institutum Lorentz's protection.

Eagle is a timid but active kid. She's determined and sets her mind on working towards the goals she wants to achieve despite her weak power. She's also very willing to help her friends and family, wanting to protect and serve them. Eagle can also be described as being quite blunt and having a bit of an attention deficit, but she tries to improve that as much as possible with self-discipline.

Eagle can become incredibly dedicated to her work to a point where it can be to her own detriment, restraining herself from enjoying trivial things and taking the time to relax. It may be because she's still grieving, struggling to cope with losing her father.

That loss is her driving force to work hard. She wants to make those around her, especially him, proud of everything she can all do now. Maybe in that same end, she'll relax once she makes closure with that grief.
