Guess what? Studying IS fun because ...
there is nothing more satisfying than getting a grade you studied your ass off
being able to flawlessly write down answers to all the questions
finishing early, knowing you fucking NAILED that test
actually paying attention in class because guess what? you fucking studied so you understand everything the teacher is saying
helping your friends and feeling fulfilled when they say "that helped so much" (wipes a tear away)
But the thing is, studying can be tiring too because ...
the system is rigged. teachers don't teach, classrooms aren't classrooms, your personal life is getting too much.
grades over mental health.
sometimes you can study your ass off for a test, and still not get the grade you want.
long, tiring hours of going over materials until you can't even remember the time.
constantly feeling drained.
feeling like you never, or just don't get enough sleep.

How to be productive all day?
The most asked question in recent days, How to be productive? How to set my day as useful as possible?
I have the perfect response for this. In this digital age, staying on task and avoiding distraction is harder to accomplish than your actual work.
Mornings: Because how you spend your morning will directly impact how the rest of your day goes.
As many of you know, morning bliss gives you energy. Use your morning to focus on yourself. Wake up with a positive vibe, set your alarm tone to be a soothing melody. Make yourself a drink. Complete your morning routines.
Make a to-do list: Add your daily goals and tasks to the list and try to accomplish as much as possible.
Divide and conquer: Organizing tasks should include differentiation, you should tackle your challenging tasks before lunch. It will give you some relief in the noon.
Simplicity: As we work in digital life, Emails play a vital role in our system but emails are usually a distraction. Sometimes if the reply chain goes on then it's time to pick up the phone.
Create your system: You must focus on doing things that matter most. Some people use sticky notes, reminders to keep up their memory.
Stop multi-tasking: Changing tasks more than 3 times a day drop your efficiency in work. 'Haste makes waste', doing 10 things at a time delays your work goal.
Elimination of things: Try to eliminate things that are not important during your workdays.
At the end of the day value your results and take a gratitude approach. Nurture yourself in a positive way of thinking.

Maybe love changes. Maybe it goes from “I’ll wait up and call you after work” to “I’m going to sleep, I’m tired.” Maybe it goes from “You have nothing to worry about” to “I really wish you didn’t overthink so much.” Maybe it goes from “I choose you” to “I have to choose myself right now.” Maybe love isn’t one of those things that grows with certain people. Maybe you become too big for it. Maybe it’s like that sweater you always loved growing up or your childhood bed. You learn to appreciate it for what it was, but you come to terms with the fact that you have outgrown it. You learn to let it go. And maybe letting go of love isn’t some loud celebration at the end of a dark tunnel. Maybe letting go is the moment you decide that you can no longer keep the past alive inside of you. Maybe when you walk away, your life is just beginning.

not-really-friends-anymore is such a weird place to be like yeah we're still on each other's instagram close friends lists and i know all your favorites and i know that one specific type of candy you like and i still know you better than i wish i did and i think about you every year on your birthday but i don't know if i should wish you a happy birthday (i stare at the happy birthday i typed out until the blinking cursor convinces me to delete it)

my new study system
there are a few main ideas that this system goes by, and i mainly try to optimise the time i have and make sure the time i spend studying is focused
1. Treating school as a 9-5 - Compartmentalising my obligations
Having set boundaries between 'study/work' and 'play' allows more purposeful and intentional use of time. Boundaries like WHEN and WHERE helps to establish a clear work/play mode.
Together with the 4 hour rule, I will try to incorporate this into my days. On weekdays, I will work towards a total/maximum of 4 hours, in 1-2h blocks because it's difficult to have a solid block of time. Also because I think my attention span will fail me.
On weekends, I will try to keep it to 9-5, about an 8h day, where 4 hours are delegated to homework each day and the other 4 to revision.
Another thing with this time blocking system would be the website blocks I set. Instead of going with 24h blocks, I will try setting the block for that task I am doing. E.g. if I am doing math for 1.5h, I shall set the block for 1.5h
This is so that the time I block distractions for is intentional too, and not just a general 'no distractions' rule. It might also help with being more purposeful and having a clear goal in mind, to finish the task within that block.
I plan to use a time log, inspired by an article I read online, so that I have a even greater sense of officiality to this 'job'
2. Practice based revision
Content can be learnt through application, and I can become more familiar with it through applications. By doing application I will be sifting through what I know in my head and fitting it to the question - the exact skill that the exam tests. After doing many many times, the content just sticks and I will know how to apply content in different ways to different questions.
Lit, GP: Essay based subjects: Do many essay plans, at least 1-2 every 2 weeks, sometimes I could write the actual essay. Practice the PBQ/Essay/Compre
Other subjects Bio, Math, Chem: No more copied notes, rather, memory notes after going through the content, adding on things that I missed out in another colour. Anki flashcards too
3. Recap, beating the forgetting curve
The forgetting curve is quite well known but I think I haven't been making use of it very well, and I want to follow this even better so that my scheduled revision blocks are more effective and work more towards long term memory.
I plan to go by 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months
Every day: recap what was learnt within 24 hours (but if it is too short, recap the next day instead)
Every week: Recap content learnt. Since we are going by the 9-5 system, maybe try to keep
Every month, every 3 months: schedule what's necessary by looking at the revision log and time log
On Sunday night every week, leave about 45min to an hour to schedule what is due for recap
This is an overall look into how I plan to revamp my study system, starting soon when I get back into the groove of doing work. In the meantime I will take the well deserved and necessary break, and go forth with this new study system with much enthusiasm. I don't know how well it will work, but I'm interested to find out. Overall, from this, I hope to enjoy studying a bit more, by having these boundaries and guidelines that I exert on myself. Hope it'll go well. Stay productive :)
