Men and their baggage...
Okay ladies, so its not just us with our incessant need for  stuffing our handbags, apparently our opposites have taken a keen interest as well.  They too need more than just two pockets for their keys, wallet, grooming kits (thanks to the metrosexuals), perhaps deoderant and perfume due to our lovely stroke/armpit-odour/humid weather.
With the explosive versatility of side bags, the infamous Cambridge Satchel on the other hand has the perfect blend of structured elegance that comes  in an array of colours you could choose from.  Taking the world by storm, it is the "Madonna" of satchels, influencing even the highest decree of fashion designers to mimic the beauty as well.
Tumblr media
However if you don't have the taste buds for this particular structure there are a lot of other aesthetics that could tickle your fancy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moving on to the cons aspect, what the hell is a murse? Or mmuuurrsssee! Are these so called "fashionistos" so  trepadatious of their manhood being questioned that they need to masculinize everything!  Is it just me or doesn't it sound like a calling of the cows?
Satchels and side bags i can tolerate, but birkins and a kelly?

ladies just remember to keep your handbags on lock-down, or your men might be after your Chanel next...

Remember that post earlier about Dame Shirley Bassey's black dress...
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Hurley in Versace accompanying Hugh Grant at the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Tumblr media
Toni Braxton caused quite a stir with her barely-there white dress at the 2001 Mtv Grammys.
And finally Lauren Pope, sporting a custom made gown by designer Louis Heal at the premier of Breaking Dawn part 1

Who dawned the look first?
As you watch this video of the stunning singing songstress Dame Shirley Bassey, you will notice a very familiar black dress that she wears while exchanging tunes with the legendary Engelbert Humperdinck.

The broader the better...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We all know that MC Hammer started the harem pants, there’s no denying about that. In my opinion he also refurbished the zoot-ty suits in his infamous two legit to quit video.  The boxy shoulder pads did define the acquisition of our closet space season after season. With Balmain intentionally and boldly alienating women, designing blazers with oddly shaped padded shoulders, repelling men and even potential muggers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although alienation isn’t a bad thing when it comes to fashion. It’s an added advantage when it comes to getting an extra seat in a crowded mobile situation. But Balmain is not the “only” name to be blamed that arises from the usual. Allow me to introduce to you, the renowned LADY FOZAZA blazers by Alanoud Badr.

The exotic Saudi/Lebanese born fashion designer has skimmed a few notches on the infamous look-a-likes and brought in a new era of neon’s with amalgamations of jersey-licious leopards with neons, zebra prints, sequins galore! Only a little more tasteful to the palette.  Where women of a bold nature would bravely strut the sandy streets  with.  Alienating themselves from a crowd of black garbs. And you can’t help but be amazed by the structure and the variations that will leave you scratching and screaming for more. If that’s not enough fash-orgasm for you wait till you see her 2013 collection.  I hear it’s to die for!

The many many ways to wear a turban…
I seldom respond to queries regarding turban wear. Just because I am unaware of wearing one correctly myself. Anyway I have posted a few ways for the inquisitive few.
The multi purpose turban (my personal favourite) could be worn for the evenings or for a spontaneous swim…:p

For some royal inspiration, the Qatari Queen of elegance Sheikha Moza Al Misned

Ahhh, the bejewelled turban is a favourite amongst many high fashion rollers. Nevertheless, a timeless classic always prevails.

Not leaving the men behind of course. Designed by the great cacomorphobic Karl Lagerfield.

And now gentlemen, I don’t ever want to hear the monotonous tune of how YOU are always being left out. Who knew that they had a portable steamer for you? Ahhh-mazing.

More EEEK Than CHIC! (what are they thinking?)
Welcome to Creeps-ville ladies! Of all the accessories that I have an eccentric affinity with, this would be the only one, that I find repugnant. It should have be present on the scratch list than hit list. Not only does it bring a feeling of violent convulsions but to place this amongst my most sought-after accessoires would be a crime…Trying to conjure up friendly feelings towards them, only severely misleading myself to assume that I could one day take ownership of a ring that looks back at me. Gifting it to my bitterest-foe is tempting. Let her enjoy the jaundice-y looking thingy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unless, you are one of the persevere few, that objects and could stomach the thought of purchasing the Ruthenium-plated silver accessories, then so be it…Just remember Sting’s 80’s classic, “I’ll Be Watching You”. (It’s actually “Every Breath You Take” only I find I’ll Be Watching You more appropriate.)

The art of nose-picking
Stuck in a heated line where even the sounds of random horns rumble your empty insides. Traffic in Dubai has overcome the severity of people’s frustration, so much so that it leaves a familiar feeling of resonating comfort. Until you come across some form of entertainment that would fill your empty vessel. Which is precisely what happened to me…
As always the line stays stagnant, looking ahead will not do any good either. The radio station’s a bust of mainly foofaraw crap. So what do you do? Turn to your side and to your amazement, you’ve struck gold.  A fine young gentleman in a comfortable-conditioned-cushioned world places his perfectly manicured finger into his left nostril.
“Alas but the show is not over folks” he starts to rotate patiently, so precisely, so seductively, you’d assume he was a ballroom dancer.  As I tried not to manifest intrigue, I found it beguiling to watch.
Clockwise, anti-clockwise, up and down he even tugged and pulled. I could not fathom what would be the outcome. Perhaps leaving a conclusion of a bruised nostril.  Finally he removes his withered finger, studiously looking at the end result.  And he does the inevitable…He eats the damn booger!!!

The passing of a legend Anna Piaggi
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
   Born 1931, died August 7 2012
Anna to me was my constant surprise, of a perfectly wrapped gift. Petitely walking obliviously in between crowds of admirers. She solidified what it is to be in style rather than in fashion.
She was the only eccentric being, seated in a row  of austerity. I am aware of other greats before her. Gianni Versace, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent. Only it’s people like Anna who aspire indifference to the world of fashion. Not succumbing to every fad like cattle, but altering it according to her stylish perspective. It was her who mastered style to great lengths and she will be severely missed, by many who knew her, who followed her and who aspired to be like her…pia
