Hi Yall! Long time no see I've been very busy with school and getting this script done! This is the final draft of the movie script. Major edits have been done, new scenes added and some old scenes taken out. This is the full version, I'm posting this because there are some major things I am planning to do with this script....

So major updates are to be discussed with the script:

I am now planning on turning BST into a TV SERIES!!!! After doing some edits and deciding that- this is way too long for just a movie and wanting to explore all of the character more- I thought the best option would be to turn this into a series. I am planning on our story in Bluffdale Utah to be about 8 60 minute episodes, with each episode from the perspective of a different character. The series will be an anthology. With each season centering a different place in America during a different year. I really love American culture, history, youth culture, and playing around with sociological theories in relation to all of those things. So, each season will essential be a different coming of age in a different place and time with different characters.

Here are my ideas for seasons so far:

GOD: BST, focusing on a small town in Utah. Religion, sexuality, gender expectation, and not talking about the big things.

BRUTALITY: 2012 Oregon seaside town. What it means to hurt, to be hurt, what evil is, how evil is made, how everyone contributes to victimization.

EVERYTHING: 2022 rural Wisconsin. The internet, isolation, political extremism, and self hate.

HIRAETH: 2018 Portland Oregon. Poverty, homelessness, family.

YOUR OWN WORLD: 2007 New York City. economic ladder, sexuality, your 20s, class systems, meeting your own expectations.

I will plan on posting a bit more as I'm making the TV bible and hopefully y'all can give me some feedback with everything! Thank you all for loving this project as much as I do. Doing revisions and moving stuff around in the script and me and my best friend just came up with an idea for a new scene that is the most disgusting/hot/sick and twisted sex scene you could possibly imagine. Like biblical levels of insane

I listened to so much Mk.gee while reading your script and now every time I listen to him (specifically Are You Looking Up) I think of Andrew and I just wanna cry. But it’s a good cry don’t worry

I’m so touched that Andrew and the story has stuck with you! 🫶🏻 I’ve been working a lot lately and taking a break from the script so I can re-read it with fresh eyes. I’m probably going to begin the editing process tomorrow and this ask really has gotten me in the mood for editing! Ugh I really just love Andrew so much, my heart and soul burn for that sensitive young man.

I can’t wait until I’m finished with this second round of editing because I’ll begin submitting to some screenplay contests! :) 🙌🏻

michael’s the real protagonist of the story

he lowkey became my favorite character lolololol. I feel that way about all my stories tho I'll have a protag and then slowly get so sick of them and their actions that I start liking a supporting character lolololol

haha I'm actually thinking about writing a sequel script if this does get produced. I'd love to have the original actors come back like 10 or so years later and have this whole new thing. Idk I just think that would be cool

SPOILERS:

Would you write a spin-off about John and Michael? I feel there’s a lot there especially with the fact we didn’t get to see them reunite

I have considered something kind of like that haha! I don’t think I could ever write a whole movie with them because I think they’re just too normal lol but I’ve thought about having the movie instead be a mini series where each episode focuses on a different character in BST life. I feel like I have a lot to say about Mormon culture and how it affects those who are growing up in it. I’d probably only write that if I had a director or producer that was like yeah instead of this being a movie we should mini series this!

But! I think I might write a short storyish type thing that is from either Micheal or John’s POV and just go a little more in depth about how they came to be! In non screenplay format just like maybe a 10k word story because I do think they’re are darling and I think I want to explore their characters a little more ❤️🐟

did you always plan to have john and michael be together? Or did it kinda just work out like that

I always planned on having Micheal to be gay but I didn’t initially plan on John and Micheal being a thing in my outline. I kind of wanted to show the experience that I think a lot of queer people had especially before the 2010s of either being thrown under the bus by a fellow queer person or throwing someone else under the bus in a way of saving themselves/fitting in. And so I wanted Micheal to be almost this Jesus figure and Andrew to be Judas lol. Micheal was a real friend to Andrew, he helped him a lot throughout the story. And yet in a moment where he could have helped Micheal, he betrayed him and went a long with it. Theres a lot more to be said about Andrew beating up Micheal but I’ll probably talk about that a different time.

But yeah, Micheal being with John kind of came about when I was thinking more about Mormon culture. And what it means to be the child of a bishop. And how much devote Mormons will put on this image of being so kind and nice, and then behind closed doors be terrible to their children. Especially if they have queer children.

And so things just kind of fell in place of Micheal and John being together. You don’t really see their dynamic on screen but I think it’s kind of a fun dynamic then you think about the two characters. The school drug dealer and the bishops son who’s full name is an inside joke with everyone but him lolllll. They’re also just two kind of nice normal guys and it’s funny to think about their relationship in comparison to Tim and Andrew’s whole thing haha

I’m kind of curious if people were surprised with them being together! When my friend read it he was like oh I had no idea I just assumed John turner was buying drugs from Micheal.
