I’m watching Splash (1984) which is a romcom about a guy who falls in love with a mermaid, and when she chooses a human name she chooses Madison and guy says “that’s not a real name, but alright” which seems to imply that Madison was not a name until at least the 80’s and all girls named Madison are actually named after the mermaid. thought you should know

So, in Brazilian, USAmerican, and LGBT+ politics news, transgender Brazilian congresswoman Erika Hilton has received from the USA a visa marking her gender as male.

Hilton canceled a trip she was going to make to the US this month, where she was going to participate on Saturday (12) in a panel at the Brazil Conference, and says she will take action against US President Donald Trump at the UN (United Nations) because she considers the case to be transphobic and disrespectful of her Brazilian civil records.

I was watching Heartstopper s1 and all the main characters don't have jobs as far as I'm aware... so student for life? Like a vampire stuck pretending to be a high schooler forever lol?

I was also watching Notting Hill the movie as part of movie night with my friend. So... High Grant parts the main character, a salesman at the travel books bookstore (or owner of it?) Which would indeed be a pretty funny career to be trapped in for life. Seems like a pretty bad one but not maximally painful.

Yes this is discussed a lot in certain parenting spaces that like to talk about Natural Consequences and Logical Consequences that are very related to the thing that happened/ that the kid did. They made a mess, then it's not no dessert or no TV. It's that they have to help clean up the mess and learn what has to be done when a mess is made. It is so much more impactful in not wanting to intentionally make messes again... and isn't even a shaming punishment thing, just an educational and practical thing.
