Let the house for a change and took the train behind my apartment to downtown. There was a record sale at the library I wanted to check out. I haven't been downtown in forever though it's probably going to be a part of my commute if I do get this job. I picked up four records for four dollars. That Robert John record aside from the guy having two first names is sick as fuck on the one side if you like disco. The other records have some samples on them. I couldn't pass up the Oakridge Boys Christmas Record and true to form the first word on the first song is Jesus. Nothing compared to the Brokerage Boys mind you. There was a tour at the library that apparently wasn't from around these parts. The lady was showing off the unbanned books display as part of the "blue state" portion of the tour. I got to the elevator and for some reason they put the restroom gender symbols right next to the elevators. It made think of Tokyo where you had the gendered trains. I skipped an elevator full of women because I didn't want to intrude on somebody's gendered space. When the lady came by with the tour, she noted that the icons were for the restrooms and not the elevators. I did my Chicagoan thing and jumped in and explained that I thought the same thing. I said I didn't want to misgender anything and I was cool with agender either way. Just wanted to be respectful. The tour laughed and then the lady went on to show them the Narcan machine to which someone let out an audible "gosh!" I did run into somebody from music coming out of the next elevator who just ignored me. It's the kind of person in footwork who was photographed dancing on a police car during the riots. You kind of have to pick and choose what you interact with out here. I felt the gender discussion was a better performance than some tired music shit. Stopped afterwards and bought an outfit for work. Don't want to go crazy updating my wardrobe quite yet. But cautiously optimistic about getting back to income again. I could always lead the blue state tour if things fall through.
