Canada expands its in-demand List. Adds 16 new Occupations to Express Entry
The government of Canada has added 16 new occupations to its in-demand List. These new occupations will be eligible to apply for permanent residence in Canada through Express Entry point's calculator stream. With the addition of 16 new occupations, Canada brings more skilled workers to the country across critical sectors, including healthcare, education, construction, and transportation.

As Canada continues to struggle with an acute labor shortage, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is taking active measures to invite more skilled workers for vacant jobs.
Healthcare and social assistance alone saw a record-high number of job vacancies, with 15,900 new positions. Year after year, this sector has witnessed a continuous rise of 25% in job vacancies. The advent of the Covid-19 pandemic has further plummeted the demand for skilled healthcare professions across Canada.
In the recent update of the National Occupation Classification (NOC) 2021, IRCC also included occupations such as Nurses, long-term care aides, hospital attendants, elementary and secondary school teacher assistants, and transport truck drivers as part of the new occupation list.
Apart from this, the following occupations also made their place to the new list of occupations now eligible for Canada PR visa:
Dental assistants and dental laboratory assistants
Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates
Pharmacy technical assistants and pharmacy assistants
Elementary and secondary school teacher assistants
Sheriffs and Bailiffs
Correctional service officers
By-law enforcement and other regulatory officers
Estheticians, Electrologists and related occupations
Residential and commercial installers and servicers
Pest controllers and fumigators
Other repairers and servicers
Transport truck drivers
Bus drivers, subway operators, and other transit operators
Heavy equipment operators
Aircraft assemblers
Aircraft assembly inspectors
The National Occupation Classification (NOC) is one of the most critical components of the Canadian immigration system. The system categorizes each job in the Canadian labor market and is updated regularly depending on the country's economic needs. The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) leverages the NOC system to determine a person's ability to migrate to Canada as a temporary worker or permanent resident.
The latest changes to the NOC system support the Canadian government commitment to expand immigration pathways for temporary workers and international students, as more jobs have become eligible for the express entry system. Through this update, 16 new occupations that were previously not eligible can now apply for permanent residency in Canada.

Receiving an Invitation to Apply from Canada
Invitation to apply is a significant term for Canadian immigration hopefuls. An Invitation to Apply (ITA) is an official invitation to submit complete documents for a Canada PR visa under express entry or some Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Abhinav Immigration Services, the best Canada immigration consultant in Delhi, take pride in securing ITAs for our esteemed clients. For the past 28 years, we have helped thousands of clients with their ITA submission, Canada PR visa approval, work permit, and study permit applications.

An Invitation to Apply or ITA is integral to Canadian PR visa applications. Let’s discuss how the concept fits into each part of the application process.
Federal vs. PNP applications
As per your interest and immigration goals, you could apply for Canada PR under one of the following categories:
The federal category means you can live and work anywhere in Canada except Quebec. Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) where you intend to live in a specific province or territory. Quebec programs invite applicants with French language skills and the potential to meet other eligibility requirements determined by the provincial government.
Many federal and provincial nominee pathways require immigration aspirants to submit Canada PR applications online. Electronic applications receive an ITA, whereas paper-based applications do not include an Invitation to Apply.
Expression of Interest (EOI)
Canadian immigration applicants must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) while applying online for PNPs and Federal programs. The process requires you to fill out an online form and provide answers to a range of questions. Of course, you will need to upload documents and other evidence to favor your statements. The records include your ECA report, language test results, education, etc. filling an EOI form is the first step towards receiving an ITA.
Getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA)
Once you complete the online form, you will receive a comprehensive ranking system score (CRS) based on the pre-existing criteria. Your score will make you compete with the other applicants in the express entry pool. Apart from your score, your NOC code also plays a crucial role in whether a visa officer will pick up your profile or not. Canada immigration authorities select some candidates in the EOI pool depending on the requirements. Consequently, they send you an invitation to apply officially. This invitation is known as the Invitation to Apply or ITA. You will get it via email or as a digital letter.
Does receiving an Invitation to Apply mean approval?
The answer is No. There is a difference between receiving an ITA and getting a visa. An invitation to apply means your profile is strong enough to grab the attention of visa officers. It also means that you fulfill the basic eligibility requirements. However, how you respond to the ITA process determines your visa's final outcome. Sometimes immigration authorities ask for more documents to assess the authenticity of your documents. Therefore, ITA is a critical milestone in your Canadian immigration journey; it does not guarantee your PR.
