I just discovered that Homestuck^2 has been paused indefinitely, and will be finished in private, with all the content being posted when the writers and artists are done.

It doesn’t annoy me that they did this; apparently the creative team was being harassed and bullied for the creative decisions they were making. Which, not cool, y’all. Cyber bullying is never cool. I don’t know what shit exactly has been said, but it seems to be about the lgbtqia+ decisions made in the comic. So let me say this:

Not all queers are the same. Not all gay men are the same. Not all lesbians are the same. Not all transgender people are the same. It sounded like people were criticizing the comic because it didn’t match their experience as a queer person. Guess what? It’s not going to be the same. Some people know their sex doesn’t match their gender when their kids, others don’t realize it until they’re much older. Some people know they’re attracted to the same sex when they’re teenagers, others don’t realize it until they’re older. I didn’t realize I myself was queer until I was 22. There may have been some hints, but living in a predominantly white, straight, midwestern part of the states meant it took me a while to realize who I am. My experience is not the same as others. And we can’t expect the characters of Homestuck to have the same experiences as us.

I got kind of off topic of why I was originally posting. So I’m not upset that they stopped posting to the public. It’s their right to do what’s best for them. I’m annoyed because I had to go looking for the answer to why there wasn’t an update. I was wondering why there hadn’t been any updates in January, so I started clicking around on the website, hoping to find a link to a twitter that might have some more info. I click on the About page, and find this:

“ Homestuck^2 is an officially commissioned story which explores a continuation of the narrative after the events of The Homestuck Epilogues. It began in October of 2019 and updated regularly for about a year until it was paused indefinitely. The creative team is now being commissioned to finish the story privately. All content will be posted here at once when the story is complete. “

That’s it. There was no information on the homepage. There was no update saying that it would be quite sometime until new content. I came here to tumblr, figuring you all would know, and learned that there was a lot more info on the Patreon. I’m not a patron. I doubt everyone who was reading Homestuck^2 was a patron. So how were we supposed to know? I just feel like this information should have posted in a more obvious way on the H2 website.

But yeah. I wish the creative team all the best of luck, and hope that they can now enjoy what they’re doing. To everyone else, remember rule #1:

Don’t be a dick.

I love Jackson x Ethan. They are one of my new favorite ships (along with Stydia and Sterydia).

But how did they meet? Here’s how I imagine it. Even though Jackson left between S2 and S3a, he and Danny stayed in touch. After Danny and Ethan break up at the end of S3b, Danny gives Ethan Jackson’s contact information, saying if Ethan’s ever in London, to look up Jackson. This is because Danny totally knows about Jackson’s sexuality, as well Jackson’s supernatural side, and even though Danny isn’t into dating a werewolf, he’s a great wingman for his friends/ex-crushes/exes, and thinks they may hit it off. (Although their combined douchiness might blow up in their faces. At least Ethan is less douchy. It’s a toss up with Jackson.)

So eventually Ethan makes it to London, and meets the infamous Jackson. They go a few dates, have really hot sex, and become a couple. That takes us to S6b, where it’s their anniversary, and they have this cute routine where Jackson talks and Ethan listens, and yeah. There we go. Now if only there were more fic out there where Jethan is the top pairing, instead of being buried in other mainstream pairings.

27. “I’m pregnant”

Lydia hasn’t moved in twenty minutes. Her feet are starting to go numb, the cold ceramic toilet seat cutting into the backs of her thighs. She doesn’t move though, phone held limply in one hand, pregnancy test in the other. 

Two pink lines stare back at her.

They weren’t trying.

It’s not like it was a never or anything. Derek loves kids and Stiles pretends to hate them, and Lydia has always seen it as a some day. Apparently some day became today. 

She doesn’t know how to cope with this. She’s coped with so many things, from losing her best friend to graduating MIT summa cum laude and landing a job at a top secret government research facility. She’s fallen in and out of love, until finding the best of it with Derek and Stiles. 

It’s Derek’s.

She doesn’t know how she knows, except she can feel it deep down. Maybe it’s banshee senses or something. Which… that’s kind of morbid to think about. But maybe it’s werewolf senses, this little supernatural baby already growing inside of her. Derek will be thrilled, she knows that too, knows it better than she knows her own name.

Stiles will be over the moon. He won’t be jealous, she doesn’t think. They talked about it one time, way back in the beginning, when Lydia and Stiles had drank too much wine and tried to figure out what was happening between them. Somehow they had gotten onto the subject of how things would work if this thing they had stayed strong. Stiles didn’t want kids. Or he did, but he was scared of passing on the sickness that had taken his mom. It was hereditary after all. He would love this baby as if it was his own.

So there’s really no reason that she should be hiding in the bathroom. Sure, it’s unexpected, but it’s not like they can’t handle it, the three of them, together. But the truth of the matter is, Lydia is scared. What if she makes a horrible mother? Nurturing has never been her forte. What if she turns into the mean parent? The one who makes all the rules and deals out punishments and is never soft and warm? What if she can’t be good enough?

“Lydia,” Derek’s voice is soft on the other side of the door, and she can picture him leaning against it, listening to her breathe. “Everything alright?” 

“Yeah,” she croaks, voice sticking in her throat. Derek cracks the door open, concerned eyes searching her face. “I’m uh,” she shrugs, tears running down her face even though she smiles through them. “I’m pregnant!��

Derek’s grin is like the sunrise, slow and beautiful and all encompassing. He steps into the bathroom, cupping her face in his hands and kissing her softly. “I know,” he murmurs, lips curving into a smile as a squawk and the sound of bare feet slapping on hardwood echoes down the hallway. 

“Did I just hear-” Stiles bursts into the bathroom, half tripping over the shower mat and catching himself on Derek’s shoulder. Ever the detective, his wide amber eyes flick to the pregnancy test in her hand, face splitting into a grin. His mouth opens and then shuts, then opens again, apparently lost for words for the first time in fifteen years. 

He finally gives up, swooping in and kissing Lydia, open mouthed with too much teeth. She can’t help but laugh into it, her fears melting away as Derek’s arms wrap around both of them, warm and safe.

She has no doubt that this baby will be loved.

Wait wait wait.... which episode had the Gummi Bears reference? I totally missed it!

Ducktales giving kids an amazing story. Great plots, good morals, and now inclusion (the wheelchaired woodchuck and Violet’s parents). And one of the best remakes ever.

And for everyone who grew up watching 90’s afternoon cartoons, we’re getting all of that and the awesome surprise of great cameos and characters from other 90’s Disney cartoons.

Also, Gosalyn from Darkwing Duck, more Tailspin characters, and Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers. I can’t wait.
