Happy New Year! 🎉🥳🎆

"Thanks! Happy New Year to you too, anon! Where I am on Earth right now it's still New Year's Eve... six hours away from the New Year!" Vitalik is surrounded by various kinds of liquor from around the world. He's curious about them all, and may end up overdoing it tonight for sure.

On the morning of the 25th of December, it knocks on the door. Outside, there is an inconspicuous looking package. Inside the package, Vitalik will find nothing but two badly wrapped presents and a note with a messy, yes, sadly unreadable message on it. The first present is a knitted red and dark green scarf; The other one of those typical ugly Christmas sweaters. This one shows a cat with laser eyes which is sitting onto a pizza.

Vitalik was confused by the knocking at first, but went to see what was going on. As he found the package, he tried to read it to no avail. He shrugged, opening it. As he saw the scarf and sweater, a smile crossed his lips. He knew what he'd be wearing later that day! :D

“Yep, definitely a storm.” Vitalik remarked, looking to the window. “I’m glad it’s water and not acid.”

Watching as Perrine poked at the pizza, he couldn’t help but chuckle. “Eh, lukewarm is still good. Much better than cold!”

Vitalik nodded, getting a little more comfortable as Perrine left to grab their food. He dozed off for a bit, his body’s way of trying to heal itself.

Once he heard the lavender alien return, he woke up. He looked at her curiously. “You’re soaked, what happened?” 

Liae, the ship’s AI, was just about to ask Perrine kindly to be silent, yet the small alien had already interrupted her – And woke up their guest.

“There’s a storm coming,” she explained as placing the soggy paper bag and two cardboard boxes onto the couch, next to Vitalik. Water dripped onto the floor while she was moving; Perrine ignored it.

As if the storm had just waited for those words, heavy rain hammered against the vessel’s only window.

“Well, hope our food didn't get cold..” Perrine said as opening one of the boxes, then poked the pizza. “Lukewarm..”

That's a list you write things down. 😄 Things you want for Christmas. Maaaybee someone wants to give you a present..

"Oooh." He thinks for a few moments. "I've never given these things much thought. Honestly, I like scarves and warm clothes, so I guess that would be on my list! I get cold easy."

Someone = Santa Claus! They're real!!

"I've heard of Santa Claus. Very interesting!"

“It’s fascinating if you’ve never visited before! Also, moon rocks! They glimmer like glitter... at least the ones I’ve seen do!” The alien goes quiet for a few minutes. “Is it true there are holes in the ozone layer?”

“Earthlings…” he repeated, a curious expression on his face. “That’s odd, but I guess there are weirder terms that could be used.” Vitalik was content as he listened to Cheryl talk about what Earthlings had done. “Your moon is a fascinating place. It’s very cold though!”

“Is it?  Is the moon really fascinating?”  She frowned, thinking.  “The pictures the astronauts have brought back just show a lot of gray rocks and big craters.  Nothing particularly fascinating….and yes, I imagine it’s cold,” she added with a chuckle.  “It doesn’t have Earth’s nice atmosphere, and its ozone layer.”  @vitalik-the-alien​

"Wish list?" he tilts his head, confused. He may be an intelligent being, but some things are still lost on him.

What about Christmas?

"I've never celebrated Christmas before. I have observed Earthlings and their celebrations. They seem nice! I like the idea of presents."

Vitalik, what are your plans for Halloween? Do you even celebrate this day? If you do, are going to dress up?

"I didn't have plans, it's too hard to dress up! But..." he holds up empty candy bags. "I may have eaten both of these bags."

Vitalik nodded, getting a little more comfortable as Perrine left to grab their food. He dozed off for a bit, his body’s way of trying to heal itself.

“Longest 25 minutes of our lives.” he chuckled.

“It is! Humans are so… strange. But I bet they think the same of us!”

He thought about the many different humans he encountered; each acted differently, of course, but sometimes the differences were so slight, the untrained eye wouldn’t pick up.

“Yeah!” Perrine agreed, chuckled as well.

“Hm, probably..” Honestly, she hadn’t thought about this yet.

After half an hour later, it finally was time; She got a message on her multi device which told her to “please be ready to grab your food in about five minutes..”. Perrine jumped off the couch, waved to Vitalik before leaving the ship. “See ya~ Make yourself at home!” She didn’t ask him to join since he still was injured.

Circa twenty minutes later, the lavender alien eventually had returned, proudly holding up a well filled plastic bag. She gave him a wide grin, but also looked exhausted and soaked.

“Possibly! I’m unsure if any of my other…” he trails off, thinking of the word. “…planet… mates…” Vitalik shrugs, he’s sure it isn’t the right word, but it sounds okay. “…are here.” The lanky alien smiled in return. “True. I know I definitely don’t want to crash land on Venus, or anything.”

“Planet-mates, that works,” Cheryl chuckled, patting his shoulder warmly.  “We call ourselves ‘Earthlings’ here for some reason.  We’re not very advanced when it comes to space travel, I’m afraid.  We’ve landed on our own moon, and we’ve sent drones to Mars but not Venus.”  @vitalik-the-alien​

“Wow.” he replied, smiling. “Well, never say never… some of us can take very human forms. When I’m not injured, I can look a lot more human than this.” He thinks about his spaceship, and the fact it’s destroyed. “I’m going to be stuck here for a while, it seems.”

“You mean there’s aliens here undercover?”  Cheryl’s eyes widened in wonder.  “I never thought about that!  I’ll have to keep a good watch on suspicious-looking people….”  Her smile faded as she thought about how this man was stranded.  “There’s worse planets to crash-land on,” she offered with a smile.  @vitalik-the-alien​

“Me too! – 25 minutes..” Perrine said after giving her multi-device a quick glance.

“Tried, huh? This really must be a hard job. I mean.. Every species acts differently and stuff, has their own quirks..”

To her, adapting sounded like pure horror!

“A little, thanks.” he smiled, his blue-black eyes shining. “I… take it you don’t get many alien visitors?” Vitalik asked, curiously.

Cheryl raised her eyebrows at the question, then shook her head, giggling.  “Sir, I have never had an alien visitor,” she laughed, settling on the edge of the couch where he lay.  “I don’t know anyone who’s had an alien visitor, either.  In fact, I’m not sure aliens have ever been here.”  @vitalik-the-alien​

“I’m not surprised.” he couldn’t help but laugh too. “I can just imagine their faces at the thought of delivering food to a spaceship.”

“I came this time out of boredom… I wasn’t scheduled to come back here for a few more months, but I wanted to see if I could pick up on anything else with humans than what I had. It’s kind of my job, yeah.”

“Guess they thought it’s some kind of a prank or so!” the lavender alien laughed again, giving the Domino’s app a quick glance. Why does it have to take so long?

Big curious eyes then focused on Vitalik. “Pick up on what exactly? Wait, you actually spend time among them?”

“A little, thanks.” he smiled, his blue-black eyes shining. “I... take it you don’t get many alien visitors?” Vitalik asked, curiously.

Vitalik winced at the feeling of Cheryl wrapping the bandages. 

“Yes, it is. Someone once said that it looks like liquid Mercury.. it kind of does, doesn’t it?”

Cheryl paused in her ministrations to peer at the shiny substance for a moment.  “I can see the resemblance,” she agreed, nodding.  “My parents had an old mercury thermometer when I was a kid.  The stuff in the bulb looked a lot like this.”  She gently wrapped the wound, then fastened the bandage with adhesive tape.  “Feel better?”  @vitalik-the-alien​
