The Artist Statement:
The reason why I enjoy photography is because I like to explore my surroundings and capture the moments that I experience with people. I also like to try and create a simple subject into something more unique to the viewers’ eyes, as it gives me pleasure to capture something that no one else has (or attempted to). I believe that I do not have a specific concept because I like to explore everything in order to get out of my comfort zone. How I am able to create such compositions is by using the principles of composition (such as light and shadow, rule of thirds, and a different point of view). My inspiration came from a YouTube video I came upon, which was about these four photographers (Derrick Freske, Jerry Maestas, Jessica Kobeissi, and Brandon Woelfel) shoot the same subject. I thought that it was so cool that they all had shot the same model in the same area, but they all had completely different pictures, and their editing styles were also very different. It was so interesting to me, and it made me want to explore what I could do with my phone camera.

Andreas Gursky creates frame within a frame by taking a picture of a crowded stadium, with the center of the stadium having only minimal detail. The viewer’s eye focuses in the center because of how bare it looks compared to the rest of the photo.
