I do think with news of the ceasefire, everyone should read up on what the ceasefire actually means and what the different phases of the ceasefire are. here's a good source for what we know as of now:

Some of my initial takeaways are:

this ceasefire is temporary (as of right now, six weeks long). negotiations will continue but israel is not offering guarantees about continued non-violence. BDS remains important. be vigilant, keep pressure up

rafah crossing will open one week after the initial phase starts

israel will release 2000 prisoners

more aid will get to northern gaza, look out for ways you can help

if the second phase is initiated, israel will do a complete withdrawal from gaza. which means the initial phase will not include that. again i say: BE VIGILANT

if the third phase is reached, reconstruction will begin "under international supervision"

nothing is over, even if this is a relief. do not tape out, do not tune out.

Hi, I am the child Muhammad Ahmad Al-Anqar, I am 10 years old, my premature birth left me with several diseases, including hearing impairment in both ears, my hearing percentage in the right ear is 2% while I can not hear at all with the left, and I also suffer from a relaxed axis, brain atrophy and tension in the limbs, before this deadly war I had a small chance of treatment and exercising my rights like any child, I continued with physical therapy sessions and went to a special school for those in my condition, it was possible for me to continue my treatment at that time, but now the war has come and all my treatment journey has stopped indefinitely because of that, my house, my father's workplace and my school were demolished as if our whole life had stopped and we had more problems on top of the problems we had. I am Kareman Palestinian mother and children's teacher , and I live with my husband Ayman and my son Hamoud in an unending hell since October 7th, 2023.

The war has destroyed everything in our lives. We used to live a simple life, but it was full of hope. Now, all that remains for us is fear and suffering. The school where I worked has been destroyed, my husband's boat, which provided for us, is now just rubble, and we have nothing left.

We now live in a tattered tent that offers no protection from the freezing cold or the constant bombings surrounding us. Every night, we sleep hearing the sounds of explosions, never knowing if we will wake up to a new dawn. As for food, it has become a luxury we can no longer afford. The price of flour has exceeded $350, and the milk for my son Hamoud is only available to me at $125, which is what we need just to survive.

Despite all these challenges, we live with only one hope: to evacuate when the crossing is opened. But the cost of evacuation exceeds $45,000, a huge sum that we do not have. We need your help now more than ever. Every small donation is a chance for us to stay alive, and every support from you is the only hope for us to escape this hell.

Every time we remember the displacements and the shells falling around us, we wonder: Will there ever be a day when we can escape this suffering? Will there be a day when we can provide food for our children in a safe place? We only want a chance to survive, a chance to escape this hell😭

I can't lie, I find it very odd that posts cautioning people against donating to individual* campaigns and promoting the idea of supporting mutual aid efforts and community kitchens in Gaza can rack up 10k+ notes--while a post promoting a community kitchen (that I can personally vouch for) struggles to get 1k notes, and has barely pulled in a couple hundred dollars over the past week.

I actively try to avoid using guilting tactics in fundraising, but this is weird to me. It's like people are using these posts as an excuse not to do things they already didn't want to do anyway, rather than actually taking their recommendations on board...
