I'm trying to figure out how I want to use my various social media. I'm going to start sharing my own AND other people's art on this blog from now on!

Until recently I shared everything OTHER than my art over on my secondary blog ( @veebeebeeb ), but I don't know why I'm treating this tumblr like it's my pro portfolio?

It'll still be only art and my personal thoughts over here, so if you want to see anything I share other than that check out my secondary. But from now on I'm going to share art I like over here!

Took a break from working to do my first art fight attack of the year!

I always do at least one furry character, and I had so much fun with this one. Their name is Shrimp and they belong to Kelpso.

I'm excited for ArtFight next month, and I thought I'd give a little advice for people new to the event!

Last year, I saw people come in with the wrong expectations and then leave very disappointed, which made me sad for them. Really and truly, AF is and always has been an art ✨GIFTING✨ game!

If you go in wanting to draw people's OCs, make other people happy, and give yourself a good excuse to stretch your art muscles, you'll have fun and meet other artists! If you expect art trades or focus on the points/"winning," you'll probably resent the event. Those things are the cherries on top.

I think last year people got confused about the point because there was such a wave of new people joining and promoting the event. It was really great to see so many people join, but I saw some critiques after the fact that made no sense and were about expectations that AF never would have met.

There's no prize for winning beyond a little crown on your team icon from that year. My biggest piece of advice is to ignore the points, and draw characters you like! That way, no matter what, you'll have a good time and enjoy yourself.

NO ZOOMIES!!!

Quick digital art tip: Please, PLEASE tell yourself that you won't zoom in past 150%.

In almost every case, no one is looking that close, and it's not adding any value to your piece. I promise you, all zooming in past that will do is cause you emotional damage and feed the perfectionism demon. 👹
