After many, many events on the European servers, Rock, Paper, Signet [RPS] has come to America! On Saturday 11 March, a small horde of adventurers took the transatlantic leap and rolled a new character on the NA servers. The result was a classic RPS event with massive zergs, semi-aimless wandering, and even a good old fashioned gravitational mishap. All in all, RPS’s first expedition in uncharted territory was a success!

I can confirm there being a Champion Fire Elemental lurking near that bridge waiting for sacrifices!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
During the adventures of HERO SQUAD last Friday, I tried to get the hidden champion under the bridge to the Citadel of Flame to spawn.
Yes, there is a hidden champion. And I’ve only seen it once, years ago, during one of our other PvE events. The only real evidence I’ve got are the other witness reports, and this unclear screenshot.
Anyway, it didn’t spawn… so it’s either been removed from the game… or requires. MORE. SACRIFICES.

A selection of screenshots of the Rock, Paper, Signet [RPS] event The Stalking Dead that took place on 1 October 2016. The Stalking Dead was the first event we’ve done for a very long time, but the turnout was absolutely fantastic and the evening was great fun. In a 4-hour stretch, we marched from the Grove via the portal to Lion’s Arch to the Cursed Shore, in a quest to find a young Norn’s father. Under the expert guidance of Commanders Duke Witherheart, Tweetiti, Monkey and yours truly we visited a varied cast of NPCs played by the excellent Rebelmaren, providing a narrative context for our shenanigans. Special thanks to these, and of course to everyone who attended and joined the fray!
The events of that evening have also been chronicled by @dailytyria here and @duke-w here.
If you want to stay up-to-date with the antics of RPS, you can follow us on Twitter or even join the guild! You can also follow the purple spandex-clad mesmer or even follow me.
Hope the see you all soon(-ish) for another event!

Real shame I couldn’t attend this one. Next time though!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello!
Sorry for the lack of activity over the last week folks; I’ve been recovering from hosting last Saturday’s ALL FIRED UP!
In case you somehow missed the best in-game PvE event this side of Lion’s Arch, click here for an explanation of what it was all about.
Our route didn’t go quite as planned… and instead of managing to somehow magically cut through the mountains, we toured Ascalon… pretty much doing all available events and jumping puzzles.
As you can hopefully tell from the screenshots and the feedback thread on Reddit, we had an amazing time. Just over 70 people joined our two squads in Hoelbrak, and most stuck with us all the way to the Iron Marches. I’m really grateful to everyone who came out to support us; it’s been quite a while since we’ve had such excellent numbers.
It’s a real privilege to be able to hold these sorts of events, and we’re so lucky that Guild Wars 2 now has the systems to make hosting these run smoothly.
Thanks again to everyone who turned up. If you’d like to attend future ones, you can keep tabs on them by following this Tumblr right here, or checking me out on Twitter.
And if you liked the general ambience of hanging out with [RPS], you can sign up to the guild here.
See you next time!

Fresh Start, the day after: A summary of the fun and laughter
On 5th December, 2015, Duke Witherheart once again called for a large-scale event, bringing together his trusty crew of Rock, Paper, Signet [RPS] and friends. But now there was a twist: since the previous event, Guild Wars 2 had gone Free to Play - making this an excellent opportunity to introduce new people to the game and go for a tour of the five starting areas!
Needless to say, the event was a success, leading to folders filled with screenshots (a selection of which can be found on the Feedback Thread). But there was more than wandering around, admiring the sights. The date - 5th December - happened to be the feast of St. Nicholas! In the Netherlands (and other places as well, but I can’t talk specifics about those) it is customary to celebrate this day with gifts and poems. And what better way to force some Dutch culture on the savages of RPS than having them read and listen to a lengthy series of rhymes!
Tumblr media
[This first was read by Duke, after a lengthy period of moaning and complaining. Barbarian.]
St. Nicholas! What a lovely day
To escape the daily grind and play
In this world of make-believe
That is so far from harm and grief
As long as one does not read
The Reddit, where hearts truly bleed
And people try to give advice
To give the game a little spice
Sodium chloride, it is called
(But most refer to it as salt).
Enough of this! I got distracted
It is time we got up and acted
Tyria’s waiting for our sword
So let me strike a sonorous chord
And sing instead the praises of
The game we all know and love.
But why trust me? Just use your eyes
You’ll see, I am not full of lies.
Admire with heartfelt delight
All the glorious things in sight.
Cat-like Charr, Humans and Norn.
The Asura – beings filled with scorn.
And who can forget those talking fruits!
Everywhere you see their shoots.
Tumblr media
Yes, these Sylvari are quite prevalent.
Lucky for us, most are benevolent.
But if you find yourself stomped by a tree
Blame old Mordy, don’t blame me.
We have a lot of gifts tonight!
From puzzling jumps to epic fights
Across the world, from left to right.
So no more time for me to write
Additional verses to this rhyme
Just follow Duke and you’ll be fine.
And if you enjoyed this loot-express
We hope you return to RPS.
Tumblr media
[This second poem was read by our lovely Tweetiti]
Oh Duke, you cheeky cherub from the 'Reach
With your baby face soft as a peach
Sporting that hideously purple suit
You sure turn heads wherever you’re afoot.
Jumping off cliffs without second thought –
Alas, once more it’s gravity you forgot.
Leading the zerg from Harathi to Orr
We’ve visited all there is, and more!
Constantly keeping us on our toes
You share your navigational woes
By taking detours left and right
But where you’re at, that’s where we fight!
Tumblr media
Uniting all the major races
You find adventure in well-known places.
Even though we’ve all seen it before
You brought new content to the Cursed Shore.
To name but one place you’ve commanded.
I could mention Mordrem, Risen, Branded…
Endless are the waves, a true cascade
Of evil lives cut short by our blade.
But you’ve also made us jump
With all the circumstance and pomp
Befitting of Rock, Paper, Signet.
A true achievement – innit?
But even though you’ve been very excellent,
I’ll now stop rhyming, lest you get arrogant.
A final remark that’s worth of sharing:
Follow this man, so bold and daring.
When looking for a laugh, and unsure where to start
The solution is the hovering hat of Duke Witherheart!

Last Saturday, the 12th of September, Rock, Paper, Signet under the command of Tweetiti set out to get filthy rich. We travelled around Tyria to get as many shinies as we could get. The evening was a huge success despite the incursions of Mordrem going on in other places - after all, who has time to prune the shrubbery when there’s money to make?
Special thanks to Tweetiti, Yargh, and Professor Saffnix, and of course loads of thanks to everyone joining in. Perhaps one day we’ll even learn how fire works.

An excerpt of one of the amazing linguistic exercises Rock, Paper, Signet [RPS] not uncommonly engages in. This one in particular started off with a complaint about a dungeon path in Twilight Arbor, though they can depart from all sorts of occasions.

Some more pictures of the Tequila Mockingwurm-event, which took place nearly two months ago.
Despite the importance of the 1st Quaggan Infantry Division on bringing down Tequatl, I had nearly completely forgotten these little gems. So here they are, with a bit of a delay, but no less special.

Rock, Paper, Signet [RPS] is certainly no stranger to using Siege Golems in World versus World (see one of our previous events, Golems gone wild!). The event that allowed them to be placed without supply and with an enormous boost thus was a gift from the heavens, allowing us to finally employ the numbers we always wanted! Commander Duke Witherheart took the lead, planting down a horde of Siege Golems and taking them on a leisurely stroll around the Borderlands.
As nearly all of our enemies ran away in panic, most fights were against crumbling walls and melting Tower Lords. So we challenged our greatest foe to date: the Borderlands Jumping Puzzle! Which went quite well, considering we still had to bring a few golems with us.
Afterwards, we moved to the Silverwastes, were we had a very successful assault on the Mordrem Vinewrath. An amazingly fun night, with lots of loot and laughter!
If you want to become a part of RPS (and why wouldn’t you?) you can sign up here. You can also follow us on Twitter (@RPS_GW2), or follow me (@Vlupius) or Duke Witherheart (@D_Witherheart) personally.

(Part 1 can be found here)
After defeating Tequatl and only narrowly letting the Wurm escape, we set course for Dry Top. Of course, that meant cutting through Lion’s Arch, and what better place to jump a puzzle! We went to pay a visit to Captain Weyandt, and one by one, we solved his clever puzzles and avoided his traps to plunder his loot.
Upon leaving the pirate cave, we engaged in a bit of synchronised Map Chatting. This to the large dismay of one Buttered Toast, who was less charmed by it then we were. We took our leave of the city, and politely said goodbye to this special individual. His name lives on however, and during our travels we often fondly looked back on his responses.
After running around in Gendarran Fields for about half an eternity, we struck due west. Kessex Hills was crossed, then the Brisban Wildlands. At long last, we arrived at our destination: Dry Top, in all its dusty glory. Here, we helped the Zephyrites with whatever task they were too work-shy to perform. Our help earned us Tier 5 merchants after roughly an hour of events - and about 5 hours of running around at the speed of sound.

In the early evening of the 6th of June, 2015, the allied forces of the Pact gathered in Fort Trinity. They were to march north, to the beaches of Sparkfly Fen - the Splintered Coast. Rumour had it the dragon Tequatl was planning an invasion from the sea, and we were the force designated to stop him. Afterwards, we would travel north even further, and stop an infestation of worms in the Bloodtide Coast, before plotting a course towards Dry Top in the far west.
The undead menace proved no match for the horde of quaggans that assaulted him. His Atlantic Bonewall was quickly broken, and his taking to the skies was quickly interrupted by Pact flak cannons. Soon enough, the monstrously moving carcass exploded in a shower of uncountable bits.
After a short celebration of victory, we set out once more. The Vigil had located several sites were giant wurm heads occasionally shot out of the ground, and we were tasked with correcting the issue. The sheer size of the things, however, made this quite difficult. After a while of us poking the ugly thing with all our fire power, it decided it would have none of it and disappeared back into the earth. The force that took down a dragon, now was bested by a wurm. But we were not to be deterred - a long journey to Dry Top still awaited us!
(You can see how that went here)

Good thing it was labelled. I’d think something was up with this rabbit otherwise.
Found in Mount Maelstrom, on the bridge near Murkvale.

After a lengthy hiatus, Rock, Paper, Signet returned to the chaos of WvW and the Edge of the Mists under the command of Duke Witherheart on 25 April. The evening was filled with glorious fun, running around as Gunnar’s Hold invaders on the Vizunah Square borderlands, following Duke’s whims. (He pretended to have a plan, but that should of course be taken with a grain of salt.) Afterwards, we resorted to the Edge of the Mists, hoping to find loot and decent fights. Our (Green) forces however had already taken most of the map, so we had to make sure to summon some enemies. A dozen Commander Hats proved the solution, and we ended with several very good fights around the Blue keep and in the field.
A very successful evening indeed, and one suited for repetition!
