WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD?
Most times music does. Everything from classical to rap to rock to pop to screamo, depending on my mood.

And sometimes I get bored and write Gallifreyan. Nothing to fret about dears. The quote comes from an excellent Johnlock story off Fanfiction, if anyone is interested. And I learnt Gallifreyan from this wonderful website.

Being a Nerd
I’ll be honest with you all. High school probably sucked. A few close friends, but no one really outside of the whole geek clique. Maybe you embraced the whole geek culture, spend your Sundays watching Doctor Who, and the weekdays studying in between picking up those science fiction books.
Maybe you spent high school bullied. It’s crappy and horrible, and as much as we’d love to believe it isn’t going to happen, it will always happen. If we all were blind and unable to make fun of those who are physically different, we’d make fun of those with higher voices, or those that smelt like cheese on Wednesdays. (Maybe that already happens, but I’m trying to make a point.)
So when you finally graduate, you think, I’m going to get out of this hell hole, and go to university, where I’ll make friends.
But if you are still socially awkward (like me), you are going to still be labelled a geek. A nerd.
And god-forbid you have to work your way through school. Say goodbye to any social life you have, because you’re going to spend it working to pay to attend this university.
What then? When do we finally leave the geek-dom of our lives? How can we move past this point?
Fight.
No, not physically. It won’t do anything for you, and most likely will get you hurt or worse. I am not advocating going to punch the quarterback tomorrow. That would be bad. Really bad.
What I mean when I say fight is fight that instinct you’ve developed over the years. That one that’s telling you to knuckle under, and to not talk to people. Start a conversation. If you’re female, compliment someone’s shoes or something (but be honest), and then ask where they got them from. You may get shut down a few times, but there will be someone who will talk. And then comment on something else. But be honest.
If you’re a guy, comment on something. Or you can compliment something. I honestly am not familiar with the hierarchy of guys, speaking as a female.
Just put yourself out there. Yes, there are going to be people who are dicks. It doesn’t mean that everyone ever is going to be one.

Maybe I Should Stop Ripping on the Public School System....
Oh, well, not today. For those who are not aware, I am currently in the middle of exams, and have been studying insane amounts (no, really, I swear). But during my studying of Psychology I had ended up writing a small rant, which I think I will share. So without further ado:
We have to be aware of our biases to be good scientists. Part of this could be started when we are children. Ever since we were children, we've had the scientific method mentioned, and then the teacher wanted us to prove our theories right. This is not good for science, given as it is confirmation bias.
Confirmation bias is basically attempting to prove your idea right, and believing that it is right. Most times, there is ignoring evidence negating your theory, but not always.
I know for me, as children, when we are beginning our careers as scientists, we focus on one hypothesis, and then attempt to prove it right. We are looked upon highly if we can prove a correlation between two subjects, and negatively if we just seem to pull something out of the air.
If you've read any research studies in the news recently, psychologists today with their theories would be looked down upon by a fourth grade science teacher. Imagine some of these school-age proposals, "Can I encourage men to stare at womens breasts for long periods and see if their health improves?", "Can I see if gingers are more promiscuous in their sex lives?", and many more of the strange correlations that scientists seem to find in the world.
Now, I am not saying that psychology is dumb or anything (at least not online, I am a Physics girl at heart), and in fact, I probably got off topic.
Where was I?
When we are looking at most of our thought processes currently, we think that getting a yes means that our hypothesis is right.
Let's try an example here:
This one is also called the Wason Card Problem. I have four cards face up on a table. They are as follows, A, B, 4 and 7. On every card, there is a letter on one side, and a number on the other. I then pose the following:
Which card(s) must you turn over to determine whether the following statement is false? "If a card has a vowel on one side, then it has an even number on the other side."
Most people guess A and 4. Most people are wrong. In fact, it is B and 7. Most people attempt to prove the statement right, when in fact, we are asked to prove the statement false. If you want a full reasoning behind the experiment, click here.
We constantly look to prove something right, but don't fully recognize the meaning behind proving something wrong. If you are looking for a yes, you will never learn anything. Only when you look for a no, and then have to change your answer will you actually learn anything.
So I leave you all with this puzzle, to which I will reply.
Each guess has to have 3 numbers in it. I will reply if it conforms to my rule or not. Here are three examples:
1, 3, 5
63, 65, 67
-35, -33, -31
Good luck, and happy exams (or try to...)!

What to Do When You Don't Have Inspiration...
Alright, so anyone in the writing community knows about NaNoWriMo, and what happening this month. But what happens when you are stuck?
This is my process to attempt to get un-suck:
Check Facebook: Honestly, isn't that where everyone goes? Check Facebook to see what everyone else is doing. It also comes with the added benefit of getting your mind off things.
Post a Complaint of Lack of Inspiration on Facebook: Based on the whole theory, two heads are better than one.
Check Email: See above.
Type Project/Theory/What-Have-You into a Search Engine: You get Wikipedia, and images.
Try Mind-Mapping it: Or spiderweb or whatever you want to call it. Start with your idea in the middle, and then make branches off the centre for anything and everything remotely related to the subject.
Check Facebook Again: Because things might have change.
Try Doing Other Homework
If for a class Project, Re-read the Outline
If it is actually for NaNoWriMo, try looking at Seventh Sanctum. It's a website with randomizers. Actually, even if it isn't for NaNoWriMo, check it out, it's entertaining.
More Homework
Write a Blog Post: (What, you don't have a blog? Make a blog then.)
Hopefully, you, unlike me, managed to get inspiration from something you've done.
I am currently stuck on finding an idea for my Computer Science Assignment.
Lots of Fun! Wishing everyone luck.
Lest We Forget
