"Wellll he is... but I'm not exactly.... good, at it, yet."

Sure, MK's helped Pigsy make food once or twice. There was that cooking competition with Speedy Panda, and he's tried to make it on his own once or twice... but compared to Pigsy, his attempts are really all over the place. Nowhere near mastering it.

He knows the recipe, at least. Following it is another story. He's way too impatient to actually put the same amount of dedication into making the noodles and cooking the broth like Pigsy does.

"Besides, Pigsy hates giving out free food. Even when I'm the one doing it. And, you're not as close to Pigsy as Mr. Tang is so I don't think he'd let me making you noodles slide if he found out, my guy."

"That's such a great name, I love it!"

Something about the name Xiaotian is kinda familiar to him in a cosmic sort of sense, but he's changed his own name multiple times over the years so it doesn't really register past that.

MK quickly goes back to doting on the dog. "Yes you are, yes you do have a great name, yes you do!! You're such a good puppy, yes you are!"

Yang Jian, huh? Doesn't sound like anyone MK's heard of. Though, after what happened last time, he really doesn't want to take this guy to his mentor. If it's important, he can act as a messenger and then take Monkey King's word for it if they have a reason to skedaddle.

Still, Pigsy taught him better manners than being paranoid all the time. What's the chances of three calamities in a row?

"Nice to meetcha! Actually, I was just finishing up for the day. My arms are all jelly-like and stuff, but hey, he's got a roof over his head until I come back tomorrow, so job well done on that front!"

There. An excuse to keep this guy away from Monkey King a bit longer without being rude. And if this guy is here to see Sun Wukong specifically, he's still here as backup just in case.

  “This is Xiaotian.”

If there was anything he loved most in this world, his dog was definitely it. For his hound, his smile warmed to body temperature.

  “Orー Little Heaven. They're an old dog, but you'd never guess by how lively they get.”

Their senses were sharp as well. Just as they were in their prime. Evidently, as they'd managed to pinpoint the Monkey King's protegee with ease. MK, huh? 

   “The wild weather has been disastrous. I'm sorry that your friend's house was caught up in the cross fire.” His hands returned to his back. “I'd be happy to lend a handー as it so happens, I'm no stranger to construction work. But of course, I understand that your friend may not appreciate unexpected company. My name is Yang Jian. It's nice to meet you, MK."

Wait, shoot. He's HURT.

MK quickly rushes over to his mentor's side to assess the damage. He also moves into a position where the Monkey King can lean on him for support if it's hard to stand.

"Right, okay. Where are you hurt," MK quickly goes into mother hen mode, something he's adopted from Pigsy whenever he got sick. "Do you got any bandages nearby or should we go get em? We also need to get it cleaned up and washed off, and then we'll get you a place to relax while it heals."

He doesn't really care HOW his mentor hurt, as long as he gets better. And sure, MK knows he's IMMORTAL six ways to Sunday, but he can't help but worry if something happens that his mentor can't recover from.

His first instinct had been to say no, that he was alright and reassure Mk that this was no big deal. However, he'd be a hypocrite for doing so. He was trying to get Mk to see that it was ok to ask for help and lean on the support of his friends, that he didn't need to do things on his own.

How was he supposed to show him that when he couldn't do that himself? Then he heard Mk speak when he saw the blood and heard if he needed help, wincing as he moved his arms slightly and nodded his head. "I didn't want you to see me hurt but yeah, I do need some help here bud."

Oh, so this is this guy's dog. Seems simple enough. After all, the puppy looks well taken care of, and it's getting plenty of treats, so whoever this is can't be THAT bad.

MK happily takes the treat, presenting it to the dog while also letting it sniff his hand. Probably isn't the best smell, he's been rebuilding parts of Monkey King's house all day and he's really sweaty, but it's just like dogs to not care about that part.

...still gonna need a shower. Maybe he can stick his head under the new waterfall after Monkey King finishes redirecting the river over there. Wherever the heck he is right now.

"Hey buddy. I see you like these, want another?" MK offers the treat.

Of course, the moment the dog takes it, MK happily starts petting, feeling the soft and fluffy fur under his hands and instantly looking a lot less tense compared to the prior few moments.

"Thank you so much, you're dog's so cute! What's their name?" He pauses a moment. "Oh yeah, I'm MK by the way. I'm out here helping out a...." probably better not to mention Wukong if this is another one of THOSE situations, "...I'm helping out a friend of mine. Huge storm blew their house over. Yeah."

Hands held behind his back, the man offered a smile to the young one. The man left a trail of footprints up to the boy and Xiaotian. There, he squatted by his dog.

"They bite. But..."

From beneath his robes, he produced a small drawstring bag. And within that bag, dried meat strips. He pulled out two pieces and offered one to the houndー who snarfed it up with a snap of their jaw. The other piece, held out to the monkey boy.

"They also accept bribes. Hold your fist out like thisー" Xiaotian sniffed the man's hand as it as presented to them. "Then open your hand and give them the treat." He lead by example and the dog continued to sniff his hand with vigor, as if it would suddenly manifest something there for him.

"See? And now, you." He stood up.

Character Bio:

Deimos doesn't like talking about his past, but there is an implied connection to the AAHW he and his partner Sanford are continually fighting to stop. (AAHW stands for Agents Against Hank J. Wimbleton, Madness Combat's ...protagonist.) He has since defected from whatever role he had there.

He doesn't take his job as seriously as the other members of his team, or Hank. He's constantly cracking jokes or lighting smokes in the middle of combat and is a lot more lax. Preferring the back-line and long ranged weapons, though not afraid to get up close and personal if the situation calls for it. The only thing he does take seriously are his ties to Sanford, as he will become fiercely protective and vindictive against those who harm him. He's also quite vindictive and doesn't take kindly to being called short, despite being the shortest member of his squad.

Deimos is heavily addicted to smoking. Nevada is in an apocalyptic state, bodies lie in the streets and he's a wanted criminal with a bounty on the head placed there by his previous employers, and as such he uses his addiction to cope with the stress. Bonus for him if the cancer sticks do kill him; means the agency won't get the satisfaction of doing it themselves.

-Cannot speak without assistance. His mouth, nose, chest and lungs have been replaced with these stones.

-Withdrawal is a bitch because his rock jaw and stone lungs mean he can't use his favorite coping mechanism anymore.

-His name means TERROR and he is going to live up to it.

//gonna get to some replies in a bit, but I recently got around to playing Project Nexus after having it on my wishlist for a while, and if I can find 'em, I might bring back my Deimos from a couple years back with the hand-drawn icons I made myself.

Though be forewarned because he's a very violent character, with some course language and a bad habit with a certain kind of fire stick (which will all be tagged accordingly in rps with him of course!!) so anyone who wants to play with him should be well aware of it XD

Puppy! Oh, it's so cute, wagging it's littol tail, and it's rolled over all cute, and oh my gosh it's so soft, MK wants to pet it sooo bad.

....wait, hold the phone.

MK sees another silhouette in the distance, a more human-like looking one. Better to be safe than sorry, MK's eyes light up gold to make sure there's actually someone on the shoreline and it's not his paranoia getting to him. Sure enough, the gold vision reveals someone else, giving off the same kinda vibes he gets when he uses the power around Nezha.

This better not be another one of his mentor's... "friends."

"Excuuuuuse me!!" He calls across the beach, waving an arm at the stranger. If they're a bad guy, MK is perfectly capable of defending himself. "Is this your dog?? If he is your dog, can I pet him??"

He really wants to pet the dog. After the day, week, month, life since he picked up the staff, he's been having, soft and fluffy puppy pets would really work some magic for his mental state right now.

The canine tentatively sniffed the air. An ear raised to the sound of feet through sand. A young one, a boy. The closer they approached, the more confident the obedient Xiaotian became. It acknowledged the stranger with a single barkー before seating themself paws forward. The fur of their tail trailed through the sand, leaving a fan pattern where it went. What a good dog. Well disciplined, well taught. A sleek coat and fit build, indicative of the finest care the world could offerー and rightfully so, his master was proud on all accounts.

Where his dog went, so did he. The two companions shared a likeness in their dark silhouettes. And for now, were about as stoic as the other. Yang Jian approached the stretch of shoreline from inland. With only two present on the beach, he could easily surmise the reason for his hound's call.

Xiaotian wagged their tail knowingly, and rolled onto their side for pets.

[Muse: Sun Wukong] [for Mk] "It's not that bad Kid I'm ok, nothing that I can't handle!" He really did try his best to hide this from Mk, he didn't want the kid to worry about him. Especially after what happened with Azure, thats why he had been trying to walk off quick so that Mk didn't see the gashes on his chest and arms. However, he didn't realize that he wasn't selling the whole 'being ok' look until Mk caught up to him and got in front of him to see how it looked, golden eyes fixed to the ground at this moment.

"Um... yeah, no offense Monkey King, but you don't look that okay."

As someone who's used closed off body language to hide how he's been before, he can spot Wukong's quick-to-leave to hide something attitude a mile away. Takes one to know one, after all. It's why they made such a great mentor-student duo.

For better and worse, some days.

MK walks a bit closer to take a better look at said mentor, trying to spot why he's staring at the ground.

Though MK's attempts to look at the ground reveal something Wukong probably didn't want him to see: Blood. Fresh droplets of it trickling onto the ground and soaking into the dirt, it's only source being that which is standing above it.

"Are you... hurt? You look hurt. Do you need help?"

"Thanks man. And I promise I'm gonna fight against whatever nasty thing I was made for with everything I got too!"

He's feeling his confidence returning a little bit. It was good to get all that stuff off his chest, it makes him feel a bit lighter as a result. And he's not kidding, he's gonna fight to be himself, the him he is right now, and if some ancient jerk with their stupid game is gonna get in the way of that, MK's gonna mess their world up!

"Sky's not gonna fall apart while I'm on duty, that's for sure! And then once this whole thing with the Jade Emperor's taken care of, and they get a new guy that can look after it, I'm looking forward to a long vacation too!"

Seriously, what idiot's gonna top dethroning the Jade Emperor? It can't get much worse than that, right?

In a rare moment of kindness, Macaque does not comment on how utterly terrifying MK actually had been - perhaps it was the bare minimum, but it was a kindness he was taking. He remembers Wukong warning MK about how power, how his body couldn't handle it, and how vastly, vastly wrong he had become.

It was MK's mind that couldn't handle it now, clearly - even Macaque's, struggling to comprehend how that much power could be toppled from the outside. He'd just have to think positively about this looming situation. That thing he was so, so good at.

"Six-Ears and stuff is a new one." Macaque chuffs, pausing when MK mentions his own role in their Doing The Plan By Not Doing A Plan plan. "And yeah, I can sound the alarms if things go sideways. Kinda one of my best features is being ahead of the strike."
