i have another bomb to throw, girls who hated pink and femininity in childhood were not experiencing internalized misogyny; it was a rejection of the conditioning pushed on us from birth which we never felt passion for and grew resentful towards because of adults’ insistence on us following the rules of being a girl. when you hit middle-high school and get more say in how you look it feels fucking incredible to reject and be openly hostile to the things you were forced to embrace your whole life. you people just don’t know what internalized misogyny is and tumblr choice feminism lied to you
#similarly#it took me so long to get over my complicated feelings toward dresses and skirts#((not) coincidentally the time it took me to get out of highschool)#i enjoy skirts now#but back then anything that made me seem even a little bit feminine that i could control#i avoided to hell and back#i did not want to be a young woman i did not want to be pretty i did not want to be perceived that way#and then the second i was out of an environment that forced me around so many people i had to see daily who were judgemental#i enjoyed wearing skirts and whatnot again#im probably explaining poorly cuz imma bout to fall asleep#its just#im sure anyone who was considered a girl in childhood#and didnt perfectly match the expectations has felt this at some point#just the sense that there is someway you are perceiving me i cant control that makes you treat me in a way i dont like#and doing everything to avoid that#relatedly#fuck having to close my legs#everything else bothered me but that was the worse#it fucking hurts to do that long#its bullshit#i was wearing pants you saw nothing#grumble grumble grumble#also so glad i got over hating dresses cuz theyre the ultimate outfit for when you have no energy#a dress and some sandals👌#perfect for any occasion
