He waited patiently until the other finished the sentence written on the sand between them. Once done with reading it he came back with his gaze on the one apparently having a name of “Adrian”, not that much of an ‘exotic’ name , assuming that he was an Ionian was pretty much invalid… After all he decided not to overthink too much, asking was much better of an option.
『 Good paid Captain would have delivered you to yer destination without troubles. Waters around Bilgewater are dangerous, idiotic crew always get on wrong courses, not being experienced enough… You’re not the first one to end up like that. Lucky enough you survived. ❞』
Pyke answered, sighing. He met with a lot of accidents like this one, sadly not a single person was to stay alive, or if they did, Bilgewatians and their greedy hearts were there to end them and take their surroundings as quick as it was possible, Adrian was lucky enough that someone was there to ‘rescue’ him. And lucky that Pyke did not take him as a threat,
『❝ Where are you coming from?  ❞』
Tumblr media
Adrian looked back at the dark waves in the distance and swallowed thickly. He could feel the sickening water inside of him, surely he'd taken in a lot in his frantic struggle. A bead of sweat dripped down his brow, lost to his already soaked appearance. He could've died - for a second, he thought he did, darkness swimming in his mind, clawing at his throat, clogging his lungs. He wasn't keen on the journey back to the mainland across such dangerous waters.
At the explanation he wearily smiled at Pyke, thankful that the man hadn't attempted to mug him for what little he had left. At the question, he exhaled heavily and pushed his hair back as he readjusted his grip on the stick. He found a new part of the sand to write in and offered a brief answer.
'I came from a small farming community, I grew up in the wilds, away from most civilization. I'm exploring now, trying to find a place for myself, a purpose. I've met many people, coined my drawings and notes from my travels. Not much, but its an interesting life.
First time I've crossed an ocean. Not quite the first impression I was hoping for.'
The Void whispered at the back of his mind, coaxing his nerves down. It was always a dangerous game, meeting new people, new places, but it was a job that needed to be done if Runeterra was to be saved from its wicked ways.

Adrian had worried about the silence that stretched between them until the stranger seemed to finally understand his simple plight. At the stick offering, a tired smile graced his features briefly before he took it. He leaned forwards and wrote with a familiarity, it was a comfort to find improvised ways to communicate.
'Adrian, I had bought my way across the sea to get here. Unfortunately, the Captian and the waters had different plans.'
He toyed with the stick in his hands as he waited, green eyes taking in the features of the other with curiosity. Never had he seen somebody wear bones like that. And if someone hid their face, there was probably a reason. Adrian wondered if there was a bounty on the other, or if he had some type of further scarring under the bandana.

Adrian: *minding his own business, chilling* Destiny Adrian: *bursts into the room with a sick ass glowing purple bow, wearing the furs and bones of his latest Void enemies and stricken with the burn of the Void on his skin. And he's got a mouthy Ghost with him.* Adrian: who are you?? Eve (Destiny Adrian's Ghost): "We're you but cooler lmao later nerd."

Watching the other for few more seconds, Pyke’s eyes examined his whole figure, locking for a while on the other side which seemed to hold it’s grip on a weapon. Squinting he took his time to think about from where possibly the stranger, as well as his crew could come from. But there was not much time for that.
Lowering the lamp a bit, not to blind the other too much with it’s light he pulled out one of his hands to grab the other’s one, with a quick and sudden move getting him to stand up, still on his own feet. He didn’t care much about being gentle, neither did he care about the fact that it could even hurt him. His touch itself wasn’t the best thing either. Cold, just like ice.
『❝ You got pretty lucky ‘ere. Few more hours and you’d be dead. Let’s get ya’ somewhere safe before nasty Bilgies make it ‘ere. ❞』
Pyke stated, with his voice in a hushed tone, as if he was aware of others trying to sneak up to those areas. Surely accidents like this one did bring a lot of unwanted people around. Not really waiting for the answer from the other, but making sure that he was rather comfortable with standing, and walking, the Ripper walked away from the shore with the stranger, careful as to not make him collapse. He knew perfectly that the person he was now rescuing could be a potential criminalist or every other sort of thing similar to it…But he felt like this one particular male was far from it. Or maybe he was wrong?
Far enough from the starting point, he put the survivor on the sand, this part at least wasn’t wet and as cold as the one right near the water. He himself sat down in front of the other, with the lamp placed next to him. Eyes once again squinting at the male. Curiously.
『❝ Now. What’s your name?  ❞』
Tumblr media
The sensations were all muted to him, all he could feel was the freezing grip of the sea and its biting breeze. Despite this, the stranger's touch sent a chill down his spine - his being recoiling at the sensation. A warning then, this man was more than meets the eye.
He went up on his feet with a sway, dragging himself through the sand as his limbs slowly responded, fatigued from the struggle that came with nearly drowning. Adrian managed to slide the small blade back into the sheath along his belt, hiding those old cursed runes and their seeping lore. Silent as the dead, Adrian walked along with this supposed good samaritan. He idly wondered what made this one different from the 'nasty Bilgies.'
The wet sand stuck to his clothes and he attempted to brush himself off before he placed on dry sand unexpectedly, his nose crinkling with irritation, but his exhausted body welcomed the relaxation. He watched quietly as the other man took a seat across from him, both of them inspecting each other. At the question, he immediately patted his pockets, mainly out of reflex, but paused as he pulled out a journal. It was soaked, its pages smeared with a mixture of ink and charcoal, and Adrian flipped through them as if in disbelief.
Of all the things to lose...
He huffed, looking over lost drawings of Draven, a certain bothersome General, the forest, his horse, and his travels. Most importantly, his notes. He set the leather bound journal on his knee, rubbing at his face with a wet glove.
Finally, he looked at the stranger and made a gesture towards his throat, then shook his head, hoping to convey what he was thinking. He stared expectantly, wondering if the odd man got the message. Again, he repeated, mouthing quickly 'can't speak.'

then-teeth:
Waters near Bilgewater were something considered as ruthless, hostile, sea of nothing but death lurking beneath it’s surface. Wrong paths taken on maritime route would lead to nothing but tragic end. Not knowing those parts could call out the beasts, cause the ships to turn into perilous storms. Only experienced sailors and captains could know how to survive and keep their ship and the crew safe.
His whole body ached. Sore from thrashing against the waves, being tossed about among the wreckage of the wood and the carnage of the sea. But he was alive, and Adrian was thankful for that much. The hunter coughed up a fair amount of seawater, narrowing his eyes at the sand as his hands struggled to push himself up.
Adrian shivered all over, his hair plastered to his forehead and his clothes sticking tight to his skin. He was pale with the cold of it all, freckles standing out against his ghostly features as he wheezed.
It seemed to take him a moment to realize there was light, but his dazed green eyes turned towards the source, squinting in the darkness. Somebody was watching him, he couldn't make out features, only a dull shape with how his head pounded and his body begged for sleep, but still, he clung to the edges of awareness. Now wasn't the time to roll over and die, he still had some fight left in him.
Another cough and Adrian tried to raise an empty hand in greeting, hoping that this person was decent enough not to kick him when he was down. If not... well, he still had his ritual blade - caught in a death-like grip of his other hand, and his cane -- somewhere among the sand, surely. The damn weapon seemed cursed to always find its way back home to his side.

Siren
@then-teeth
He did not trust the open water, nor this ship and its crew. It was the fastest and easiest way to cross factions, by sea, but Adrian found himself regretting his decisions the further they sailed away from the sturdy land. The hunter often found himself leaning over the edge of the ship, coughing up his breakfast with wet eyes and a harsh scowl towards the crew that laughed at his misery. As he watched the dark waves roll below the hull on the third day, he tried not the questions the Void's guidance. But he couldn't help the nagging feeling of fear tugging at his insides.
Things were incredibly boring on the ship. He'd often curled up somewhere to watch the crew, to draw their movements and their habits, or to hide away from their prying questions. Too many questions, too tiring to write, many of them struggled to read his script. He missed his horse, she never asked any hard questions.
It was a little under a week on the open water when it happened, they could see land. Adrian was refreshed by the faraway sight, soon he'd be back where he belonged and his duties could resume once more. He'd been told it was another day of good travel until they'd be close enough to dock, and he eagerly had counted down the hours. That night, he couldn't sleep, far too excited and restless, but that nagging worry was growing to a full-on growl inside his mind.
He'd been playing cards with a few of the other silent deck hands when the first violent jerk sent their coin scattering across the wood. Sharp green eyes narrowed in the darkness, finding it odd that he could no longer easily see the glow of land. Perhaps the Captain had gotten them turned around? While he pondered that, another wave slapped across the ship, water droplets spraying across the deck as it broke. In the distance, thunder rolled overhead before a dazzling crack of lightning temporarily lit up their features.
All at once, the ship exploded into movement, deckhands scurrying about, shouting at one another while the sea seemed to rage around them. Despite his rolling stomach, Adrian managed to forget about the sick feeling in order to feel the sharp, cold dagger of terror in his heart. This was not supposed to happen!
The merchant ship was thrown about like a toy in the water, a few deck-hands were swept away in the water and Adrian wasn't sure if the waves even felt pity for the drowned souls. He'd been trying to help a man tie down cargo when he heard the first frightening crack of wood. The ship heaved and groaned, violently tipping towards the left. Men shouted and screamed, they were taking on water. In all the commotion, Adrian found himself grabbed by two sturdy hands and tugged face to face with the angered Captain.
"You did this!" He shouted over the roar of the waves, and even as Adrian shook his head, the grizzled man continued, "You've gone and cursed this ship - damn outsider, I smelled the witchcraft on you!" With strength the hunter had no idea this Captian had, he was dragged towards the edge as the lightning cracked above them. "I'll return you to the sea, siren," The man snarled, and with another heave, Adrian was lifted over the edge.
The silent hunter barely managed to grab the ritual blade from his belt, lashing out at the man's throat as he was dropped into the sea. An eye for an eye. Adrian watched the blood spew from the Captian's neck as a final crack of lightning danced in the night sky before he was falling -- falling down into the chilled, thrashing waters, swallowed whole with his free hand reaching towards the sky desperately.
Adrian had not been expecting to breathe air ever again, and yet his lungs gave a violent struggle as he hacked up the foul tasting salt water, his vision blurred with exhaustion.

RUINER AU ideas:
-File declassified- Codename: ADi Real Name: Adrian Lindstrom Family: Evelyn Lindstrom (deceased) Augments: Left arm robotic up to his elbow, two neural implants. Information: An early run-in with corrupt power left a bitter taste in Adrian's mouth. His mother was torn from him and his arm was chopped off for crimes he, supposedly, did not commit. It is thought that he was taken in by a group of underground hackers who had ties to Evelyn before her death.
Despite lacking a voice, Adrian's kind demeanor and resourceful nature have made him a very influential hacker with big plans to get his dues. He often goes out of his way to help people down on their luck, and he's got plenty of dirt on those in power. His life has bred a deep-set fear and hatred of those with too much power, as he's only seen it lead to corruption.
Despite his high status, this man cannot hide forever. Warrant: Brought in alive, if possible, in order to rip information off his neural implants. Possibly to be used as a public warning to others with big ideas against the corporation.
