The fact that Drumbot is the pilot and Marius is the ship's doctor is inherently hilarious, considering that they were trained for the other job, but it also makes sense- if Marius just came off the heels of a piloting job that Kofi has heavily implied was tragic as hell, he's probably not going to be in fit shape to man the controls for long periods of time, lest the buttons and panels start looking like the controls of another ship.

At the same time, even of Drumbot doesn't exactly remember what led him to be lost in the cosmos, he probably knows intrinsically the horror and moral weight that comes with being a doctor. And you don't even have to be literally bringing people back from the dead to be playing with their lives- one wrong suture, one wrong misdiagnosis, and a dire situation can end up lethal. Being a doctor kinda necessitates being morally grey- if you must never hurt someone even to help them, you might allow a wound to fester; likewise if ends justify the means, you can put someone through a shit ton of undue suffering to reach the desired end goal of health. The first option is how you get dormant diseases only being treated in the last, lethal stages. The second option historically leads to invention of such practices as shoving red hot iron nails onto your wounds

So you have drumbot Brian, who knows the basics of flight and can maneuver the aurora somewhat well, teaming up at first with Natsya (who knows the ship and her limits Intimately) and who begins to call down to Marius during the trickier situations, letting Marius interact with the piloting in the safety of the backrooms where the buttons aren't present and the lights aren't blaring and the pressure doesn't seem so intense! And you have Marius teaming up with Ivy, who just knows offhand the anatomy bits, calling up to brian to ask about hypotheticals on how the patient might be feeling, and what optioms are available, all while Brian is kept safely away from the poor sucker with their intestines writhing on the table !

They have the teamwork! Plus, Drumbot's a robot, and we all know how much Marius loves psychoanalyzing inhuman objects- after crisis bonding hours!

Ivy doesnt get enough appreciation and i love her so here are some of my ivy hcs

- all pronouns ivy!!! And i mean all of them, she steals every pronouns she sees in every language because she has no gender and wants to keep all the pronouns in use

- he and brian (mechanical brain gang) have a minecraft world together in their heads, aurora is herobrine and just randomly Causes Things to happen

-jonny never really learned to read as a kid, but he loves stories, so ivy reads to him, usually adventures or tragedies. His favorite is the princess bride and he often falls asleep while they're reading and xe carries him to bed

-speaking of that buff ivy rights!!! She can lift all the other mechs except brian easily, even though shes short the other mechs are understandably very 😳 about this

- the way the whole memory reset thing works for hir is that she wakes up Knowing all the events, but all the feeling s associated with them are gone, and its like its seeing it from a third oerson perspective. It basically takes all of the personhood ourt of it and just leaves the information

-because of this, she Rarely sleeps, only giving in when it badly affects faer ability to do things but on the rare occasion that she does the other mechs make shre he never wakes up alone
