COMPREHENSIVE POST ABOUT THE GW2 WARP AI ISSUE

I come with screenshots, and also want to say that the WARP discord server is public. You can double check any of this and verify it. All I've done is block out some usernames and it's not hard to get those.

The concrete information I have gathered from reading the entirety of the AI channel in the WARP server is:

- a WARP dev made the channel and utilizes a currently-growing AI creator, using screenshots and uncredited art.

- other members of the server use various pre-made AI art programs of varying dubious quality

- one member actively programs and creates AI art functions, and they focus on charr which they have actively made two programs for, scraping both art and screenshots. It is hypothesized by many people that the charr program was trained on the art of @vateo (Vateo if you confirm the resemblance I'm so sorry this happened under your nose)

- tumblr has been mentioned by name as a *suggested* good source but with no confirmation of its use or not. It could be, but I'm not going to make assumptions past fact in this.

- the dev of WARP is actively interested in and asking about AI rp bots, but has not actively created one yet.

Hey if you're seeing a lot of posts about ai art theft in the gw2 spaces right now, here's why

The fan made gw2 rp extension, WARP, was caught today as being not just pro ai but having members of their discord actively making ai for rp chat bots and an ai to make generated charr art, all being fed art and player rps taken without consent. The devs are actively supporting and helping build these bots off stolen art and writing, and are likely using the tumblr gw2 tags as one source for the work they're stealing

I haven't seen any posts today actually explaining the situation, I learned about it through a guild discord, and since it actively affects the tumblr space I'm making this post to warn yall. The reblog below this post on my blog has resources for how to protect your art from ai generators. I don't currently know any resources to protect writing or rp text. Stay safe y'all o7

I had opened up the GW2 Warp discord to troubleshoot an issue I was having and saw they had a channel for "free A.I character art." Immediately left the discord and uninstalled the program. Just so people are aware.

The skin is also apparently also only client-side, no one else will see the skin, PLEASE do not gouge yourself by spending 1600g on a cat jade bot you'll hardly even spot, this thing should be like mail carrier skin price if anything. Don't give them money for this and tell them this is okay. Be nice to yourself, buy two character slots or like 4 mount adopt licenses instead for the same damn price.

okay the frustration has officially caught up to me and i have to say it. i cant believe anet went thru all the effort for the absolutely gorgeous aesthetics in this map but couldnt be assed to look up kirin on google dot com and learn that their primary trait is pacisifism. i am so tired of being aggroed by my cultures literal good luck omen in these maps bc anet and every other stupid video game company thinks you can just reskin a unicorn and call it a kirin. its textbook orientalism, stealing our culture for an aesthetic without showing an ounce of actual respect for us. im literally so tired.
