It makes complete sense society does not give a fuck about Tomura. There’s a difference between sympathy and empathy; even if they learned everything, it’s a hard sell to make people care about someone who took their sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, etc.

I do find it a little obtuse to pin society for people like Tomura and Dabi specifically when the main reason they were such a problem is literally because the personification of evil (AFO) was plotting on these for decades. Yeah Endeavor is major key for Dabi but that boy would’ve burned to death as a child or been found by his dad/firemen if AFO wasn’t being unhinged. Honestly if we’re talking about Hero Society failing anyone specifically by its structure, it’s Toga cause not having any solution for child development regarding taboo quirks like hers is insane. Spinner’s issue essentially racism and that’s a complex problem before hero society. That’s just a societal problem in general! I personally can’t pin that blame on hero society specifically.

I see so many people hating on Deku after reading this and I just don’t get it. The 15 year old boy literally did everything he could and gave up everything but his life for a person who by no means was going to turn over a new leaf and did not feel bad about his actions.

Overhaul has been nothing but a mentally broken/unstable double amputee that’s been in confinement ever since he lost. Don’t really understand why there’s a need to kick this guy more since the villain he was has been dead forever. He’s also objectively done less atrocities and yet nobody seems to feel bad for him. Dude was also an orphan taken in by organized crime too but since he abused a child we got to learn about he deserves no sympathy? Okay. Oh we’re supposed to feel absolutely devastated by Tomura though? Pfft, I’m not. “You should feel bad about Eri forever.” Okay, but can you he do that with prosthetics and a mental institution since Y’know… he doesn’t have a quirk.

Seriously, if the message is “society should do better when it comes to how villains happen” then at least give Overhaul the ability to eat without help. I agree with the idea of Eri not seeing him but like… that dude could rebuild Japan quickly with his quirk. That MF could probably fix Dabi if he tried. Maybe I’m not hero material cause with Eri’s consent, I would’ve negotiated giving his arms back so he could fix grandpa; but before he gets to save grandpa he fixes the country and gravely injured heroes. Does it cheapen some events? Perhaps. Do I want Bakugo and Deku to not have medical problems at 22? Also yes. I’m typically not big on undoing lots of things but it’s not like the heroes didn’t earn a portion of their life back. You can spin it positively. If Endeavor isn’t in a wheel chair, then nobody has to aid him cause I’m pretty sure his wife and Todoroki are just nice enough to wheel him around but they could be doing better things.

I've chewed my nails to the quick, I'm so nervous! I was over the moon to see Nagant back, THANK GOD she's alive (not that it would have made an ounce of sense for her to survive the explosion only to die in hospital or stay in a coma forever, but you never know)!! However... I'm very pernickety when it comes to her. I think Hori was careless and hasty writing her arc, and I'm terrified he'll use and unceremoniously discard her again ☠️

I just read the full chapter and I will say I really liked Tsukauchi's comment that "no matter what lines (Villains) have crossed, they're still human". A stark contrast to the "beasts in human skin" line from that Tartarus guard. 🥺

Oh, and of course every antagonist and their mother is back... except CHISAKI. Arguably the most important and memorable villain outside of the League. Where is he?? And will Nagant keep her promise (that way Chisaki might actually get to see his father sometime this century)?

I am not big on the ship, don’t like to approve of a child (mostly ones that are under 12) that he watch grow up little by little until she an adult and then he married her because she grown now. That just weird, creepy, and gross.

But I do like some of the drawings out there so I was wondering on your thoughts with the adult SessRin artwork.

Well, I personally don't like it. With all the respect. Setting stuff aside.

The art can look like something that someone else would deem great or I can make myself look at it but I always find myself seemingly having feelings of like disgust, weird and unsavory. Sorry, I just can't appreciate it the artwork. Due to reasons I've already talked about in the past.

I've been a fan since the early 2000s. I remember at first when it was just Sesskag, Sesskagu, Sesskik as the 3 first prominent ships with him, and SR was just starting. I was a kiddo and I recall curiosity got the better of me, trying to understand why that was a thing and what was the appeal, checking the artwork once from that time. Long story short: little kid me felt really weird about it and just decided not to look at it.

I didn't even understand sex or even love well at that time (my parents were a special case. They did not give me the talk. I learned on my own way later). It was like visceral reaction to it? Like "she's so small, why are they together?" "Is that normal?" It's what I can remember.

Ever since I just avoided it as much I could (till recent years that I decided to speak about it) and especially since that fandom even in earlier years would get confrontational and territorial about the topic.

I'm just as puzzled as to how so many people miss the power imbalance (and ensuing conflict) between Chisaki and Shigaraki! I think it's partly due to the Yakuza always being associated with money and power in the collective imaginary, leading many to automatically assume Chisaki is getting into a power struggle with Shigaraki with the both of them on equal footing, thus leaving only Chisaki's treatment of Magne and Compress as the point of contention between them.

But Horikoshi specifically took the time to inform readers that the Yakuza lost all their former power and are literal nobodies (the fact they're going extinct is also crucial to understanding how threatened Chisaki feels and why he's willing to go to any end to ensure the survival of his family).

Then one of these nobodies marches up to Shigaraki and has the gall to tell him he's inept and incompetent and would do better to step aside and let Mr. "Bottom-of-the-barrel Yakuza" become the new leader.

Shigaraki absolutely cared about Magne and Compress, and was out for revenge for both of them. But every time he brings up his resentment towards Chisaki, it's always in relation to Chisaki's attitude. When Chronostasis asks Shigaraki who he thinks he is, Shigaraki says "that's my line", because it's Chisaki and his men who are out of order; multiple times, Shigaraki demands Chisaki "show some humility"/"bow his head"/"say 'please'"; when Shigaraki packs Twice and Toga off to the Hassaikai, they protest because they don't want to work with the people who killed Magne and hurt Compress, but Shigaraki's main gripe is that "they never saw us as equals; they're trying to take over the League"! It's Chisaki's lack of deference that Shigaraki finds unbearable.

It may seem like a minor detail to miss, but imo it says a lot about both Shigaraki and Chisaki's personalities. In the latter's case, it highlights how little consideration Chisaki, the "revolutionary of destruction and rebirth", has for the status quo he's gearing up to break; it's also further proof of his inability to adapt to his chosen place in the world, as he once again gives in to his tendency to reshape the world around him, forcing it to adapt to HIM.

I agree with her! Shigaraki didn't like Chisaki because Chisaki wanted the yakuza to reach the top of the underworld hierarchy.

It BAFFLES me how many people hadn't realized that! They were too distracted by Eri and Magne being trans and dead to realize why he was actually hated by specifically Tomura.

The heroes hated him because he was a villain-like yakuza leader who has killed people and experimented on a child to make and sell drugs, quirk erasing ones at that. Toga and Twice hated him because he killed Magne, disarmed Compress, and believed himself worthy of taking over the Lov and ruling the underworld, but mostly because he killed Magne and disarmed Compress.

BUT TOMURA hated him simply because he just... didn't like Kai's personality and ideals. Kai and Tomura are clashing arrogant overachiever, so they naturally disliked one another. THIS is why Tomura dusted Kai's arm, not really for Magne or Compress, but because Kai was someone he didn't like and stood in the way of Tomura's own arrogant goals.
