i picked safiya’s last name not even because of the meaning (“moon” and “crest” + its connection to religion, bc everything in voyage has a subtle religious connection) but bc of the chandrasekhar limit, which is the maximum mass of a stable white dwarf star
something something a white dwarf being at the end of its lifecycle and “usefulness” but still able to fuse large elements despite all the barriers. staying at the limit such that it doesn’t collapse on itself and doesn’t supernovae. obsessed with my own character and her name

i wanted coding parts to be featured pretty much just for the aesthetic. the thing I ended up using is a modified, "made up" version of IDL (read: i don't know idl and i'm picking and choosing what i want), which used to be the standard for astronomy

regina spektor is so voyagecore but also I listen over and over to machine and the last chorus into the ending gets me every time
living in your pre-war apartment / soon to be your post-war apartment / and you live in the future / and the future it’s here, it’s bright, it’s now
ended on an UNRESOLVED CHORD!! ugh!! regina !! it’s so dark and right before it resolves she just leaves it
