lizard brain is like. completely irrational fear. then your evolved (?) brain is like oh yeah that would be kinda scary! but THEN that part of your brain that's supposed to be a gradual ladder of different levels of anxiety but has turned into the scariest slide in a waterpark is like. ok so not only is that irrational thought soooo happening it's happening to us RIGHT NOW omg we're dying haha yay! and you're just supposed to deal with an amount of anxiety proportionate to a near death experience

sometimes when chronically ill/disabled/neurodivergent people say “I can’t do this thing” they really mean “I can technically do this thing I guess, but not without pretty significant repercussions” and I really need more fully-abled people to understand the validity of that
