In honour of First Contact Day, I'd just like to point out that "Skank" works as a Vulcan name. But, of course, Solkar already knows this.

I'm never forgetting the Palestinian babies that were left to starve to death then rot in their beds by the IOF.
I'm never forgetting the Palestinian doctors surrounded by bodies of dead children begging the world to stop the slaughter.
I'm never forgetting the Palestinian children who held a press conference in English to beg the world to stop murdering them because they want to live.
I'm never forgetting the Palestinian Priest who said "We will not accept your apology after the genocide" to the world.
I'm never forgetting the Palestinian Imam who used the speakers of the Mosque, not to call people to prayer but to call out to God while the world around them was burning from American supplied Israeli bombs.
I'm never forgetting the grandfather who held his dead grandchild in his arms. Or the father carrying the remains of his two children in plastic shopping bags. Or the mother holding her dead child in a shroud. Or the father sitting among the rubble after he lost his whole family. Or the girl trapped under a broken building begging for people to save her family first. Or the boy who cried when he saw his brother alive. Or the girl who asked if she was still alive after being pulled from the rubble. Or the boy who carried the remains of his brother in his backpack. Or the old man the IOF used for a photoshoot before they shot him dead after getting pictures. Or the little boy wearing plastic gloves to pick up the remains of his family. Or the graves desecrated. Or the body of that small baby girl left alone in a tent because no one knew who she was or if her family was alive, small and alone and not one person who knew her name to bury her. Or the young boy who was shot in the street while his sister watched from the window. Or the men and boys who were stripped naked in winter. Or those tortured. Or those made to stand in open graves. Or the people who were raped by IOF soldiers. Or Palestinian workers kidnapped by the IOF and then labeled with wristbands, each one reduced to a number, then made to walk back to Gaza to be killed in the world's largest open air concentration camp. Or the people of Gaza starving because Israeli Zionists are blocking aid trucks. Or the Israelis dancing and celebrating the death of Palestinians. Or the lies spread by Zionists and their supporters. Or the people profiting off the oppression and deaths of Palestinians. Or the people of the West Bank being killed or kidnapped by the IOF. Or old woman who was older than the creation of the terror state of "Israel" who was shot by snipers for saying that. Or the Israelis dressed up as Palestinians to enter a hospital and kill three Palestinians in their beds. Or every single Palestinian currently kept in an Israeli prison. Or the journalists, doctors, poets, men, women, children, and the unborn all massacred. Or the fact that WCNSF exists now. Or the woman who refused to wash the blood from her hands. Or the dead, unburied and unmourned.
I'm never forgetting those who chose silence in the face of a genocide.
I may not know all their names but I will not forget the over 30,000 Palestinians dead. Or the over 60, 000 people hurt. Or the unknown number of people missing, still lost under the rubble. Or the 12,000 children slaughtered. An entire generation crippled or murdered.
I will never forget these things when Palestine is free.

On our new logo:
The hebrew reads “K’lal Yisrael” a term historically used among Jews to refer to the Jewish community as a whole. K’lal Yisrael pre-dates the State of Israel, and holds absolutely no association to the State of Israel. K’lal Yisrael is the Jewish people, wherever we stand on this divine Earth. Our home is wherever we are in the world, and always within one another.
K’lal Yisrael, and our divine duty, Tikkun Olam. It is united, and through decolonisan, anti-capitalism and community that we find liberty.
The Star of David. Magen David. The symbol of K’lal Yisrael. Of hope, perseverance, of the connection between man and G-d. It must be reclaimed from those that taint it in unholy and violent ways.
The hammer and sickle, representing our pride in community. The unity of the working class, of oppressed peoples of the globe, the unity against all odds. We seek to fight the red scare and uproot the anti-communist sentiment that has repelled generations from achieving community-focus.
We uphold one another, and it is our duty to do so.

What's the most interesting thing you've learned recently?
in one of my art history classes i learned about this guy, percival lowell, who was a dude in the late 1800s with too much money and too much time on his hands. he built himself an observatory because that’s what rich dudes did for fun back then
he had a fairly popular theory about their being purposefully designed canals on mars- 1800s europe was all about industry and what mankind could build, so it made sense that humanity would see similar formations in space. and so lowell was on trend when he charted these canals on venus:
Tumblr media
except that no one else could reproduce his findings. most of his theories were discredited over time as we learned more about space, and it wasn’t until the early 2000s that someone posited a theory to what lowell had been seeing
Tumblr media
the specific adjustments of his telescope may have caused it to act as a gigantic ophthalmoscope- leading lowell to see the veins of his own retina.
i think there’s something very sweet about that whole story- mankind looking at space and seeing themselves

Just watched the search for spock again for the first time in a while, and maybe I’m just a bit emotional rn but omfg dude. :( the whole “oops i came back wrong, sorry i died, sorry i dont remember you right” thing is poignant as fuck. And everyone is just happy to have him back. I fully believe spock got ship of theseused there and i dont think post genesis spock is the same guy. I feel bad for him. I know he is still Spock but it must be very discombobulating. :( and hes just like “I Need To Get My Marbles Back so i can be this guy correctly STAT”. But egeryone already loveshim:(

This whole episode is so amazing, and really interesting for people familiar with TOS and Spock’s character. We've seen his strained relationship with Sarek, we feel for Spock in that regard. Picard, on the other hand, only knows Spock in passing, but has mind melded with Sarek; he sympathizes with him in a way we as viewers wouldn’t. And you see that in Picard’s interactions with Spock in parts of this episode, how Sarek’s opinions have influenced him, as well as in the way Spock reacts. There was some loyalty and respect between him and his father, maybe, but mostly it was a struggle: Spock living his life the way that made sense for him, and Sarek resenting him for it. Over time Spock made his peace with the fact that they would never agree, nor would they be close. And he chooses, in my opinion rightfully, not to offer Sarek the absolution he seeks at the end of his life.
“Ironically, you may know Sarek better than his own son did,” Spock says to Picard. Yet when Picard offers him the mild meld to learn what Sarek felt for his son, Spock doesn’t even hesitate. You see his hand move almost immediately because he has to know. It’s so heartbreaking to think of him, a middle-aged (in Vulcan years) and wildly accomplished man who is accepting of his humanity despite Sarek’s attempts to crush it in him, still unable to completely free himself of hoping for a sign of the love and acceptance his father almost never showed him. And Picard, who now knows he can't possibly understand the complexity of their relationship, wants to offer Spock the only thing he can at this point: the chance to say goodbye. We don't know what exactly Spock gets from the meld, because this is the end of the episode, but the emotion is clearly visible on his face. It's such an excellent moment. Star Trek: The Next Generation S5E8, "Unification Pt 2"
