As I was scanning Greatest Heist (which will be finished very soon so look forward to it!!) I think I've realized something interesting in the "Lupin Lullaby Chapter.

Lupin's grandfather entrusted this old man to protect this vault of gold and to give it to Lupin when he grows up.

Instead of accepting this gift from his grandfather, Lupin actually gives it to the old man as a reward for being loyal to his family for such a long time.

I, and for probably a lot of people reading it, first registered it as just a rare act of kindness from Lupin, but i think there's more to it.

Beyond this point in the manga, there's been hints that Lupin wants to defect from the empire that his family created and be independent.

We hear almost no mention of the Lupin Empire beyond Lupin III

Lupin I and II are absent beyond that point as well

The Extra Chapter in Lupin III shows him destroying the empire(the secret facility) and him saying that "...construction has already begun on our next adventure." When he says "our" i think he refers to his gang, basically starting something new that doesn't involve his family.

So when Lupin gives away the gold to the old man, it also supports these hints because in a way, he's essentially rejecting his grandfather's gift. By giving it away he's saying that he doesn't need the backing of his family anymore and he wants to live his life on his own.

In addition, I wanna point out that Lupin's reason for giving the gold to the man is because of his loyalty. Lupin really values loyalty, because the world he's living in always has people betraying him and acts of devotion are rare.

So when someone really shows their loyalty, Lupin trusts them and rewards them generously.

Anyways that's all I just wanted to talk about this because I find it really neat tehe

Lupipi and friends in: weird reference to old cover album

i think what i really love about them playing cards together and playing chess and shogi is how instead of trying to force each other to play by one thing, they try to combine them and let each other do what they prefer. i think it's very reflective of their friendship and the mutual respect they have despite their differences.

i want to buy the collection of unpublished lupin iii works solely because monkey punch drew a scene where jigen and goemon are playing a game of chess pieces vs shogi pieces on the same board and they end up getting into an argument because the game kinda makes no sense lol.

One of my favourite chapters in the original manga “The dream sequence” in which Lupin keeps having nightmares. Beautiful women who turn into skeletons and the idea of Jigen dying or betraying him.

I know the manga is not everyone’s ‘cup of tea’ but consider that 90% of it is just a mad gag after another and right because Lupin IS a real bastard in it (albeit the parody of a real bastard ;) is very endearing to see that the thing that horrifies him the most is losing his best friend.

And Lupin ‘interacting’ with Monkey Punch is a lot of… things 🤣

URGENT UPDATE!

Due to the heavy rains in Gaza, many camps are experiencing flooding! To counter this, people have begun digging canals between the camps to try and keep the water away from the tents.

Unfortunately, there isn't much else we can do about this other than digging waterways. Wood is in limited supply and used mostly for cooking and boiling water so they can't build platforms for the tents.
