I'm thinking about my cousin on his birthday. I called him my birthday present because he was born a week before my bday. #SickleCellAnemia took his limbs as a young child and eventually took his life. Advances in treatment protocols and prosthetics fascinate me because of him.
He was one of the best people I've ever known. Love & miss you, Russell.

Just sharing updated shots of the babies. Xena's coned so she stops licking her foot. She's allergic to something in the yard. Birdy and Loki are healthy.

February is rough
A short one on grief.
This one may be a downer. It’ll be short, but if you’re grieving, skip this.
My dad died on February 29. I was almost 11 and he was almost 40. I generally wonder what life would be like with him, but every once in a while, I cry. Grief is a mess.
This is it for this post. Be good to yourself.

It's been too long
Happy New Year, y'all! #update #plans #CharlestonSC
Months have gone by without an update here. So, what’s been happening? Vacation cruise, Covid (hubs and I both, whee), the pets are happy together, love, loss, good (and meh) food, semi-retirement (forced), and, unfortunately, more pain.
What am I looking forward to in 2024? More peace. Continuing to love myself through the pain. Finding the new normal and shaking things up. Enjoying level 55…

Here's to the last weekend of 2023. Here's to the new year bringing better things for all.

About a month ago, I made a boo boo. It's definitely broken and I'm pretty sad. This is not the break I need.

Yep, and this is with a cold front bringing the humidity down. A 100-degree heat index is expected today instead of near 110 expected for tomorrow. You know what to do - stay hydrated, people.

Friendly reminder that chronic and invisible illnesses are not magically cured by exercise, changing your diet, “clean living” or suddenly becoming vegetarian or vegan.
Believe it or not, but most disabled people cannot afford to overhaul their diet and swap to completely organic, vegan foods. Some disabled people are in too much pain or too exhausted to exercise. What may work for you may not work for others.
Chronic illnesses are lifelong. And in many cases, terminal. They cannot be cured, they can only be suppressed. So don’t berate and dictate to disabled and chronically ill people about how they should go about "curing" themselves.
