Of course there were no street fairs in San Francisco this year. The bubbles in this photo make me think about the virus that's floating around (who TF really knows how long it floats???). Walking San Francisco & Thinking Out Loud August 30, Post 1 - Botanical Garden Revisited . Sometimes I don't know what I'm looking at until I run it through a few filters. This is a mirror image of a hydrania plant. When I look through the optical viewfinder I can often see 1/2 of a mirror image. I prefer naturally occurring reflections but sometimes I dabble in short-hand mirror imaging and it works for me when I can see where I'm going quickly. Art is like that for me. .. . Walking San Francisco & Thinking Out Loud August 30, Post 3 - Pizza Dinner Sunset . I took this pic last night at dinner at Peavine Taphouse Eats and Beats in Northwest Reno. The pizza was outstanding and we got a table outside with a perfect view of sunset. I used my #samsunggalaxyS10plus and focused through the handle of a glass vase that held cut flowers. This seagull has perfect form if she were starting her dive off the tall building but she's actually coming in for a landing onto the street lamp. Dictionary definition: US and Canadian - a type of dive in which the diver arches back while in the air, keeping his legs straight and together and his arms outstretched, finally entering the water headfirst - Also called (in Britain and certain other countries): swallow dive . .. . Where did the name of the dive came from?: A photo was taken of a "swan dive" by a man named Levison, a Life magazine photographer, in Brooklyn, New York, on June 26, 1886, and subsequently published in Life magazine. The boy's name was Jamie Swan. . Our bridge is symbolic of freedoms we share here in the USA. Today is the anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I have a Dream" speech. Walking San Francisco & Thinking Out Loud August 28, Post 1 - Crescent Moon & Venus . I took this pic of the Bay Bridge on August 14 at 5:48 am. It's actually a photo I woke up in the morning to go out and try to capture. My 1st thought was Golden Gate Bridge and to get to Kirby Cove in the Marin Headlands but I didn't think I'd have enough beach to work with. I used the widest angle I own at 18 mm and I had to get the ISO up to 4000 to keep my SS at 1/60 sec. This pic was taken hand-held with my lens resting on the cement bannister that runs along the Embarcadero Waterfront. .. . Walking San Francisco & Thinking Out Loud . August 27, Post 1 - Typical August Day on Bay . I took this pic from the Sausalito Ferry one year ago. This is what a typical, foggy mid-day looks like out on San Francisco Bay. . I drove through Vacaville, CA on Interstate 80 this afternoon. Charred and charcoal hillsides were all that was visible. Not easy to photograph with my cell phone camera. I saw where the LNU Lightning Complex Fire jumped the highway in Fairfield. My thoughts are with everyone who's been affected by some of the largest fires in California history. I've been guilty of thinking it couldn't happen in my neighborhood. Over the years I've driven through most of the Bay Area communities that burned and the landscapes are not that different from mine. It could happen . .. . Walking San Francisco & Thinking Out Loud August 25, Post 1 - Amy Tam & Golden Gate Bridge . I ran into photographer Amy Tam @_amytam at the Marshall's Beach overlook last Friday. James Cortes @vrs_muz and I were chasing a rare, low-tide sunset at the eastern tip of Marshall's Beach by the backside of Fort Point. .. I'm sure we will all find ways to collaborate together!👋 . These 3 photos demonstrate the dilemma in Landscape Portraiture. Focus on subject or focus on landscape as in pic 2. I've been asking for serious looking poses and Amy gave me a "looking up for inspiration" or "religious, spiritual" pose when I was focused on the bridge in pic two. I like pic 3 best because I'm focused on Amy's eyes and the light bokeh bridge and water background has a dreamy feel. Pensive eye expression and dreamy go together! . With masks covering lips and teeth, eyes and body language are the only non-verbal communication we have. When are they coming out with the digital sign masks?🤔🤣 How often do you smile 😃 at someone and then realize they can't see your smile behind your mask😷? But they could see a wink 😘, if they were looking👁️👁️ at you. Don't you wish now you had spent less time on you cellphone or notepad and just smiled at someone on Bart or when walking down the street checking messages & social media. Me too! Walking San Francisco & Thinking Out Loud August 23, Post 1 - Three Ladies from Senegal . These three ladies from Senegal, West Africa, were fun to photograph at Battery East. You can see the smoke in the distance and the ash and particulate matter definitely lighten up the "international orange" color of the Golden Gate Bridge. .. Heidi, Mimi and Voot (sp?) we're visiting from Dallas. This shoot was about 10 minutes from start to end. I think the serious expressions on their faces reflect sensitivity to the tragedy so many are experiencing from firestorms here in California . .. .
