It's hilarious to me when people complain about AO3 and its policies, and what they allow on the site - but it's ESPECIALLY funny when people complain like "Why can't the freaks make their own site and just go there?"
Sweetie... AO3 is the site for that. Y'all invaded our space.
Wattpad and FFN still exist. Go there. They're as shitty and G-rated as you want. You can't have the luxuries that AO3 offers if you're gonna be a little bitch about its policies. Imagine walking into a strip club and complaining about the alcohol and naked ladies when there's a god damn Dennys next door you could have gone to. Christ.

Here’s Dreadwing! He was such a missed opportunity in TFP and I could rant, but I’ll save you the earfull, because I’m sure you’ve gotten it somewhere else. I’m pretty please with this- though I would love if he could give me some tips with my own eyeliner lol.

I’ve always been so interested with the concept! I’ve seen head cannons ofc, but it’s nice to see a story about a human getting transferred into a different body (or talking about the concept since this is only the first chapter, lol). It’s nice to see someone exploring it more!

To Save One
Earthspark Megatron x GN!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Megatron longs to preserve his human partner’s life beyond the capability of their natural lifespan, and there’s only one way it can be done. He makes the difficult decision to disregard the moral compass he’s been cultivating in favor of saving his lover’s life.
Disclaimer: I altered the canon timeline and events to make this story plausible. Shockwave is temporarily frozen but reawakens and repairs his lab. G.H.O.S.T is too preoccupied with everything else going on to go after him at the moment, considering he’s laying low and not causing problems. Croft doesn’t give the emberstone to Mandroid because she realizes Mandroid is too unreliable and unhinged. She decides he can’t be trusted with such a powerful artifact and locks it away for safekeeping. Shockwave is written more charismatically than in the show.
Warnings: Angst, implied murder of humans, described murder of a bot, robot body horror, human body horror, total disregard of bodily autonomy.
Chapter 1
Megatron knew it was wrong, maybe even unforgivable. He’d come up with every possible excuse and reason to justify his actions, but in the end he knew it was only selfishness and desperation fueling him. There was no greater purpose. No one else would benefit from this other than him and Shockwave, and maybe you if he was lucky. Still, he had to try. The seemingly endless string of regrets that already weighed him down would crumble and bury him in the rubble if he didn’t at least attempt to stop this one looming incident from joining the rest.
Shockwave was pleased when he received communication from the former tyrant. Maybe Megatron was coming to his senses and reclaiming the cause he so fiercely abandoned. When he discovered Megatron was seeking a favor of sorts, his excitement only grew knowing it would put Megatron in his debt. Though he still didn’t know the exact requirements of this favor, Shockwave believed he could use it to his advantage, even if he failed to fully complete the request.
They met in secret, agreeing on a location not easily accessible to humans as a way to hide their whereabouts from G.H.O.S.T. Unfortunately, keeping this from any bots who may be looking for them wasn’t something they could manage in their current predicament on Earth, so Megatron silently prayed it would be an uneventful night and no one would think twice about his temporary absence. Any excuse he prepared for this excursion was flimsy at best, but he’d find a way to manage if he was challenged upon his return.
“Shockwave,” he nodded towards the purple mech as a neutral greeting.
“Megatron,” Shockwave responded with a hint of disdain that went ignored by Megatron. “Let’s not waste time on pleasantries. Tell me what you require.”
“I am in need of your scientific expertise to construct something,” he paused and softly sighed. “Something experimental that may pique your interest.”
“Go on,” Shockwave urged. He was not going to do the work dragging Megatron’s true intentions to the surface. If the mech wanted his help, he had to do the work on his own.
“You are able to cold construct a Cybertronian form, yes?”
There was a moment of silence as Shockwave contemplated Megatron’s question. Such a task was easy back on their home planet, and the controversial method of ‘reproduction’ was something he had contributed to before. But on Earth resources were scarce. Energon was strictly rationed out of necessity, and Cybertronian metal was out of the question. Shockwave would have to rely on Earth metal for construction, which would be unreliable and unstable at best. There may be an alternative, but it would take a great deal of work and sacrifice.
“That is correct. I am able to construct a frame, if that is what you seek.”
“It is only one aspect of my request.”
“Not surprising, considering I doubt this figure is intended for you,” Shockwave sarcastically replied.
“An astute observation,” Megatron resisted the urge to roll his optics. “The frame would be intended to house a particular soul.”
Megatron’s choice of words caught Shockwave’s attention.
“A soul you say?” if Shockwave could smile he’d be grinning ear to ear now. “I’m listening,” he purred, urging Megatron to divulge more information.
“A human soul.”
“Your fleshy partner I presume.”
Megatron cringed at the mention of you. His instinct was to keep you as far from Shockwave as possible and the scientist’s tone was a little too pleased for Megatron’s comfort. It was a jarring reminder of the dubious ethics he was pursuing. He knew if they were to work together he’d have to get used to Shockwave discussing his lover in ways that made him feel sick. It was simply another sacrifice required of him if he was to have any hope of success.
“You know that’s never been done before,” the Decepticon reminded him.
“Yes, but if anyone could perform the procedure successfully, it would be you, Shockwave.”
“I appreciate your confidence in my abilities, but you must realize the gravity of the task at hand. It is likely they will die in the process.”
“I understand, but it is a risk I am willing to take.”
Shockwave sighed and pondered the logistics of such a monumental task.
“The likelihood of failure would be significantly reduced if I were permitted test subjects beforehand,” Shockwave casually suggested. “Lab rats are a necessity for successful experimentation, of course.”
Megatron’s spark tightened. He had already considered this possibility, but he refused to be the one to bring it up in negotiations. All Megatron would do was present his desired outcome. Whatever methods Shockwave wanted to employ would be up to the scientist alone. This way, Megatron had a small degree of separation between himself and the egregious actions required for success.
“I would only choose from a pool of-”
“Shockwave, I have worked with you long enough to know that statement was going to be a lie. You will do whatever you deem best whether I sign off on it or not. Ethics never stopped you before. All I ask,” he sighed “is no children. Use enough discretion not to get caught, and do not show me the results of experimentation. I am only interested in the final product.”
“I have no interest in getting caught,” Shockwave scoffed, offended by Megatron insinuating he lacked the needed subtlety. “Though it will be your responsibility to protect me from G.H.O.S.T. If they get even a hint of what I’m doing, the project will be abandoned. Do you understand?”
“I will handle G.H.O.S.T. I have no interest in getting caught either,” Megatron sneered.
“I take this promise of security very seriously,” Shockwave warned. “Though I suppose it won’t matter if I don’t accept your request,” he hummed. “What will I receive in return for my diligent and risky work?”
“Pioneering a field of cybertronian science currently untouched,” Megatron responded. “I have nothing more to offer you than the satisfaction of success.”
“I don’t need you for that,” Shockwave said flatly.
“I am fully aware,” Megatron replied.
There was a moment of silence between them and tension hung heavy in the air. He hated to admit it, but the opportunity to conduct such intriguing experiments with the assurance of protection from Megatron was enticing enough to accept without extra compensation. There were still quite a few issues to address though.
“I must warn you, while I believe earth metal will suffice for most of the experimentation phase,  the final product will not be durable or comfortable if cybertronian materials are not used,” Shockwave commented.
“Are you suggesting-” Megatron stopped himself from saying it aloud.
“Your precious Autobots will be spared. Besides, even a scratch on any one of their frames would spell doom for our operation. It will be Decepticons.”
Megatron was speechless. He was desperate for success, desperate to save you from your own mortality. It shouldn’t be harder to sign off on using Decepticons than it was to permit Shockwave’s use of human test subjects. Still, he hesitated, and Shockwave laughed, drawing his focus back to the matter at hand.
“A Decepticon body count never stopped you before,” Shockwave mocked. “The great ‘War Lord’ now afraid of a little spilled energon?”
“Just,” Megatron sighed, “Just don’t use anyone I know by name.”
“The final product will not contain anything recognizable to you,” Shockwave assured.
“Not by name,” Megatron urged, but he knew there weren’t enough Autobots or Decepticons on Earth for Shockwave to adhere to his request.
“The final product will not contain anything recognizable to you,” Shockwave reiterated and Megatron relented, quietly ashamed by his silent approval.
Shockwave sighed and stared at the forlorn expression on the face of his former leader. He could accept the job and send Megatron away, but he derived a sick satisfaction from making the old mech face the reality of the decision he was committing to.
“You know,” he hummed, “Even if the procedure is successful, have you considered the psychological ramifications for your little pet?” he began pacing, slowly circling Megatron. “After all, the human mind is fragile and certainly isn’t built to withstand such longevity. Even with a willing participant, there may be negative repercussions. I know humans have a fascination with immortality, but have they truly taken this fact into account?”
“They-” Megatron looked away in shame, “They don’t know.”
“Pardon?” Shockwave stopped dead in his tracks. “They don’t know? You would have me extinguish the sparks of who knows how many, all for the sake of someone who is entirely unaware of your scheme?”
“I fear they will reject the proposition if I bring it up now,” Megatron answered honestly.
“That isn’t what you truly fear,” Shockwave hissed. “You only fear their rejection because you know it wouldn’t stop you from following through.”
“How dare you-”
“I refuse to do all of this work without assurance that it will not be in vain, Megatron,” Shockwave warned with a bubbling anger. “You must give me your word that if I am successful, the plan will be completed as intended. You cannot back out at the last moment, leaving all of this on my servos.”
“If you are successful in your experiments,” Megatron said through clenched denta, “I will ensure they are… available.”
“Good,” Shockwave’s approval held a haunting excitement, “In that case, I will initiate preparations starting tomorrow.”
Megatron nodded and thanked Shockwave once before swiftly leaving, but he didn’t return to headquarters. He couldn’t have made it there even if he wanted to, too shaken by the reality of his actions sinking in. The towering mech was a quaking mess, rushing to find a quiet place to hide away as he sobbed. He’d sealed your fate and he hadn’t allowed you any say in the matter. He loved you so desperately he couldn’t bear to part with you so soon, yet he knew doing this in secret was not an example of a devoted lover.
He hoped with every fiber of his being that you would say yes. That you would be excited and maybe even honored by his actions. You did not fear death, he knew that to be true by the ferocity in which you threw yourself into danger to protect others. The prospect of this experiment’s failure may not be what earned your rejection. He knew it was far more likely you’d put the pieces together on your own and refuse to contribute simply out of respect for those who were unwillingly sacrificed to the project. He’d lose you entirely if that were to happen.
But he needed you. After millions of years spent alone raging across multiple galaxies, all he craved was peace in the arms of his beloved. You were so small, so fragile, and you’d be dead and gone before he could ever be satisfied. The image of your rejection flashed across his mind followed by a picture of him taking you anyway. You were so brave, so adaptable, he truly believed if you had one, maybe two million years, you’d grow to love this new body and the abilities it afforded you. He cursed himself before kicking a tree down in anger. This wasn’t his choice to make. He had no right to decide, yet he refused to accept the inevitable. Megatron yelled until his vocalizer was fried and he collapsed back onto the ground. He held his helm in his hands trying to stop the spiral of despair catching up to him.
“What have I done?”
