This bears repeating:
For some people, all that's required for being the villain in their story is that you don't let them walk all over you.
unavoidable that you will be the villain in someone else's story. You will be painted in an unfavorable light. You will be the irredeemable one. and all of this will happen despite how nice you might usually be or how kind or how respectful or how warm. and you will just have to move on.

I have come down with a cold, which is not fun so to cheer myself up I decided to try spinning art yarn. Something with no purpose except to be pretty, so I carded a few batts of pink and white wool with a little bit of silk waste for texture

It's really pretty, I want to try making coils with it, we'll see how it goes...
I've never done core spinning before, it is possible that learning new skills is not something you should do while sick, but I need to do something so here we go

Natural Fibers FTW
The closest experience I've ever had to discovering "the vitamin" was buying a 100% wool outfit and wearing it in the winter.
Not only was I not freezing anymore, I was not sweating and overheating either. The horrible sensory nightmare of winter clothes disappeared.
In particular, I bought a pair of wool pants. They were a thrifted pair of fancy dress pants like you would wear at an important office job, and they were easily the most comfortable pair of winter-appropriate pants i'd ever worn. I wore them Every Single Day.
From that point on I realized a lot of my clothes were making me feel bad, and the common thread was polyester. Especially polyester blends.
It's a trap because the polyester clothes are the ones that always feel sooooo silky soft when they are in the store, whereas cotton, linen and wool can feel comparatively rough and scratchy. But when actually wearing them for hours throughout the day, it's the natural fibers that feel more comfortable.
Maybe the secret to sensory comfort is not about the presence of softness, but the absence of overloading sensations. Or maybe the sensory stress and agony is not triggered by texture of the fabric, but by how it breathes and regulates temperature.
Then there's the problem of clothing life span: polyester blends, no matter how soft they seem at first, become rough and scratchy and covered in hard, itchy pills after wearing them 10 or 20 times, whether or not they have been tumble-dried or even washed at all. (I tested it!) Linen and cotton become softer and more comfy the more you wear them, polyester but ESPECIALLY polyester blends become a constant stressor. Polyester blend t-shirts I used to love for their softness now feel bristly and irritating.
So now I'm trying to change my wardrobe to as many natural fibers as possible, and the more natural fiber clothes i have the more I realize that the plastic fibers stress me out. It's so easy to overheat or freeze in them and they're always degrading and becoming less comfortable and it sucks.

Finding ways to make the Gen.Pop. aware & care is a study in psychological-gymnastics & creativity. However, every movement starts there.

Aware & Care - even when at a distance. Folks in Iowa needed to be aware & care about the whales as much as coastal folk.
And I don't care - call me a lily-lib, tree-hugger, green-puss, whatever - as long as you become aware that that there is a species out there, an environment out there, a need out there that you can effect by merely caring about it. Caring affects action. Action changes the world.

Seriously people!? Have you tried tatting? It's like fidget spinning without the spinner. It's thread & shuttle fidgeting. It's making tiny little knots in some ethereal way that represents man's inhumanity to man - in code. The only thing MORE perplexing is bobbin lace! (Which is obviously juggling thread.)
“grandma” crafts ranked by how afraid of them i am, from least to most
knitting – i watched a woman painstakingly knit her own wedding dress on instagram. the only reason i am not viscerally terrified of knitting is that i can knit and have therefore accepted the horror into my heart, 4/10 for effort
crochet – THERE IS ONLY ONE HOOK. HOW. HOW DO YOU DO THAT. but again, i can single chain enough to seam my knitting, so we’re relatively cool 6/10
embroidery – it’s so little and so detailed???? literally you do that with a tiny needle and it looks like it could walk off the fabric. you’re a witch i don’t make the rules. i mean, we’re all witches, but you especially 9/10
spinning/weaving – literally you are making something out of primordial fluff. this by definition makes you a god, i’m pretty sure. y’all are incredible and i am in awe 10/10
tatting or handmaking lace by other methods that aren’t knitting or crocheting – part of me is also always going to be convinced you’re a spider god but in a cool way. definitely the most intricate products, and the fact that i can’t parse how they come into being is why i fear and respect you. 11/10 you incredible terrors
cross stitching – THIS IS FORBIDDEN MAGIC. WHAT ARE YOU. ALL THE LITTLE SQUARES???? 1000/10
