Codex Entry: Andraste’s Mabari

A DA:I codex entry that can be found in Haven:

You know Andraste’s old mabari. He don’t show up in the Chant. And if you ask those holy sisters, Well, they’ll say Andraste can’t Have had some big old smelly wardog. But all Ferelden knows it right: Our sweet Lady needed someone Who would warm her feet at night. And there’s Andraste’s mabari By the Holy Prophet’s side. In the fight against Tevinter, That dog would never hide. They say the Maker sent him special, Always loyal, without pride, So he could be the sworn companion Of the Maker’s Holy Bride. Oh, that dog, he guards Andraste Without arrogance or fear, Only asking of his mistress Just a scratch behind the ears. But then old Maf'rath gets to plotting, Tries to lure that dog away. But even as they trap the Prophet, Her mabari never strays. And there’s Andraste’s mabari By the Holy Prophet’s side. In the fight against Tevinter, That dog would never hide. They say the Maker sent him special, Always loyal, without pride, So he could be the sworn companion Of the Maker’s Holy Bride. Oh they thought the wounds had killed him, But then he limped out toward the fire. And Hessarian, he shed a tear, As that dog laid on the pyre. And there’s Andraste’s mabari By the Holy Prophet’s side. In the fight against Tevinter, That dog would never hide. They say the Maker sent him special, Always loyal, without pride, So he could be the sworn companion Of the Maker’s Holy Bride. Yes that mabari’s the companion Of the Maker’s Holy Bride.

Eugene Cousland, my Grey Warden before he became a Grey Warden. I played the Human Noble in Origins so I started my adventure with a Mabari War Hound by my side. I named it Stort Boi ‘couse its render was so…wrong. SOOOO WORNG. And I love them.

The Antivan wipes his face and both hands go to those short floppy ears to rub them “And I suppose you’re the one who’s going to keep the assassin in line, hunh?

He stopped licking the painted elf and enjoyed the scratches, then plopping on top of Zevran completely, “Bark!” he responded and laid his big head and paws on the elf’s chest, he is happy and now you get a big adorable pup to just love on you.

good work Zevran, good work. Now he wont leave you alone, because he will keep eyes, nose and ears trained on you. For being sneaky of course.

I'll give you my portion of dinner if you go over there and absolutely SLOBBER all over Atticus and Brea ( bloodxjustice and spuckfeuer) They both need some cheering up.

The hound barked at the crow doing the ever so famous butt wiggle and panting, before he bounced around in circles, barking. His nub tail wiggled around before he turned on Zevran and jumped on the elf, panting then giving him a lick on the cheek.

Dog breath is glorious isn’t it? 

Dog wasn’t going to betray Brehana for nothing, not even food…

Offers half of his food to the Mabari

Sniffs at the food, watching Alistair carefully, being suspicious after being told that Mabari hounds were fed their victims, noses at the meal, but then gently takes it from Alistair’s hand for once.

Since the man was being nice.

Gideon barked excitedly and nudged against her hand, wanting all the attention from his companion. then he even licked at the other hand that laid idle, he wanted scratches and for the Cousland to wake up.

Sniffs at her sleeping face, and then licks it.

Charming were the snores emitting from the woman, slumbering on her side when the Mabari had decided to pay a visit. It doesn’t take long for Brehana to stir, hand reaching forward and stroking the canine’s snout. 

     “…Gideon…”  muttering, lids flutter open only to smile at what greeted her. “Silly pup. You come to wake me up?”

“I imagine Cullen starts out trying to be strict with his mabari, such as no dogs on the bed. It takes less than an hour of crying by the hound that first night before he let’s them on the bed. Pretty soon he’s resigned to sleeping on the edge while the marbari sprawls on it back in the middle. Both big softies ❤”
