writing dialogue is just advanced theater where you play every role and silently judge yourself as the audience.

I’m annoyed by people’s annoyance at Neve being the one who leads you into the Venatori Ritual lead by Elgar’nan during Blood of Arlathan. Name a better companion who knows the Venatori, name one whose experience won’t condemn the entire group with a poor poker face and poor information at hand. Who dedicated their life more to fighting Venatori, who has studied their movements, attitudes, and criminal habits to stop them. Who dedicates so much of her time to STOPPING the Venatori and fighting against the corruption of Tevinter than NEVE FRICKIN’ GALLUS.

idk if this is lucanis specific or if davrin always says it, but i really enjoyed during weisshaupt when lucanis was kind of panicking during a fight and asked davrin if he’s ever fought this many ogres before, and davrin was like “i killed this one’s cousin just last week, must have pissed him off”. which as an answer is: no, but i’m going to make it a joke to keep you steady. i really love how they played davrin as a “stoic” character without losing a sense of humour, somebody who doesn’t lose his cool in combat and is watching out for everyone else, and how much sense that makes for the team’s grey warden. he’s the one guy actually mostly equipped to deal with all this, and he acts like it! letting the other companions get actually scared/distressed/snappish during the siege is a great touch in general that made all that chaos and terror land emotionally, but it also shows off this aspect of davrin’s character i think

as much as I get why lucanis is positioned as the one needed to kill ghilan'nain as the mage killer etc, I can't help but feel like it should've been davrin
like. there's something about the dalish elf with andruil's vallaslin, a grey warden, a monster hunter, hunting down the mother of all monsters, who creates monstrosities with the blight, who was once andruil's beloved.
ghilan'nain created the halla. she still cares for the halla, despite what she's become, despite being unable to create them anymore. davrin cared for the halla under his uncle's tutelage. assan cares for and nurses a sick and dying halla. assan, who's name means arrow in elven, when andruil's weapon was a bow, who's hunting instincts give way to something more protective.
davrin was taught the way of the three trees. it was created by andruil. andruil, the goddess of the hunt, also known as the goddess of sacrifice. davrin feels like a weapon sharpened to make that final sacrifice against the blight, a tool that once drove andruil mad, and has twisted ghilan'nain into something unrecognisable. andruil, blood and force, who loved a mortal for her creations and raised her to godhood.
would ghilan'nain see andruil in him? would that offer something more to her character than just oh she's evil?
the dalish tell a legend of ghilan'nain and a hunter who bested her. maybe it was a prophecy instead.

every time the wardens do something fucked up i like them even more. this isn't about any game specifically but all of them. i fucking love the knockoff night's watch, i love that they guzzle nasty ichorous darkspawn blood that you'll die from 1) now or 2) in thirty years and how they don't tell their recruits until it's too late and the damage is done. i love their secrets and corruption and their heroism in the face of primordial darkness. i love warden leaders and warden recruits trying their best and the infighting that inevitably happens when they disagree.

So @flowersforthemachines already discovered that Bellara can do a little happy dance after she hits an enemy. But did you know that Harding sometimes cheers after using her abilities?
