Light can't tell if Yoriko's demeanor terrifies him more than her accusations.
The right corner of his lip twitches in what looks like pure disgust, as his arms clutch at his pride like it's the last anchor left to sanity.
"Trying to poison a child? And I'm supposed to be the one doing that on purpose?"
There are many reasons that could lead to such consequences — but as long as Light wishes for Yoriko to stop existing, he cannot simply erase her out of the blue.
Not with her feet in his house, and her masked self bonding with his family.
"I would never do anything that could hurt my family — especially Sayu. Unlike you, I actually know what it means to protect those I love from evil."

"Finally admitting you're not a creature of this world?"
Light grins back, though his words carry more venom than intended. No doubt she wants to foul him. Make him feel like he's imagining things.
He's not.
He knows what he saw—never blinked when it all happened. She's a wild creature, and he always saw it, even through the masked self.

(( Human beings are scarier than supernatural creatures.
Said by Light Yagami, probably, rolling in his restless sleep.
Spiders are the scariest.

"The real question isn’t why you did it—it’s why you survived."
He watched her drink bleach straight from the bottle. It was labeled Fresh Milk. And she never broke eye contact. Gulp after gulp.
Light had nightmares for three nights straight.
He dreamt of throats pulsing softly beneath the weight of poison. Dreamt of creatures that should’ve died, but didn’t.
Even Death Notes and Shinigami felt less terrifying, if you asked him.

I heard that Kira isn't actually a singular government! That Kira might actually be a small group of people!
Filtered-green light from a particularly sunny afternoon casts warm shadows over Light’s open textbooks. The college yard is buzzing with soft chatters, lingering exam anxiety, and the unmistakable scent of fresh yakisoba sandwiches —a well-earned reward after long hours of whispering notes like a chant. It would be just another ordinary Tuesday if not for the shadow now looming over Light, interrupting his quiet study. It takes him a long second to lift his gaze—more an automatic, cautious response, other than curiosity—and when he does, he blinks in surprise. He doesn't recognize his interlocutor's face or their voice. A new student, maybe? Or someone from one of his classes? Hard to tell. Light is keeping a low profile — deliberately so. The question, aimed directly at Light, carries an enthusiasm that oddly feels out of place. "A fan of the Kira case, I guess?" A genuine smile curls his lips, the textbook long forgotten on his lap. "The police haven’t released anything new lately. I suppose they’re still scrambling for leads… though I’ve heard the rumors too." I'd be off if he hadn't. The dark web is still buzzing with speculation, especially the Kira Our Salvation website —a site devoted entirely to dissecting every theory, clue, and sightseeing about the man who forced even the great L to descend on the battlefield from the darkness. Everyone wants to know who Kira is. Everyone wants to know how he kills. Even here, among students juggling over lectures and exams, the debates rage on. Light hums quietly, playing along. He isn't directly behind those rumors, but it could very well be Misa's doing. I should ask her later. "It might be true. The number of deaths on record… It got to a point where it was hard to believe it was the work of just one person. What do you think?" Then, as if remembering manners, he offers a polite bow. "I'm Yagami Light, by the way. In case we haven’t met yet… Nice to meet you." Who the hell are you?

A dramatic sigh escapes Light’s lips, followed by an eye-roll so expressive it should count as a full sentence.
His parents are seriously considering the idea of helping that oh-so poor child. Feeding Yoriko the love she’s probably never felt in her entire life.
Even Sayu — his beloved little sister — has somehow teamed up with the new arrival.
Now they wear matching friendship bracelets and share a taste for horrific (read: kawai-i in their sisters-bonding language) trinkets.
Light isn’t jealous.
He just doesn’t understand how no one sees the obvious.
The monster behind the smile.
“Spider-tailed… what.”
Cold shivers run down his back while Yoriko keeps listing all the deadliest spiders she knows — as if it’s the most normal hobby for a fourteen-year-old.
And probably it is.
Light tries not to react. Tries to stay above it.
But his feet stop at the bottom of the stairs and he stares at the landing like a giant spider is about to crawl down any second.
Swallows dry. Closes his eyes. Counts down to three.
“Yoriko.”
His voice is stern. Hostile. Holding together the last scraps of reason while that creeping chill crawls up his arms.
“Cut it out. And no peach candies before dinner.”
Ryuk’s head peeks from above the stairs, chuckling.
“Ah, so this is how humans radiate big brother energy.” He comments — and immediately earns a cold stare in return.
The kind of stare that means: no apples for a week.
Empress II is forgotten by now.
Until a shriek echoes from the living room.
Sayu? Mrs. Yagami? Hard to tell.
Light exhales. Rubs the bridge of his nose.
“You clean this mess. Whatever it is.”
And then... He returns to his room.
Where — as per universal law — no spider is ever allowed.
"There’s something oddly poetic about coming home and cleaning out a cupboard infested with insects.
Or maybe the poetry is in killing those filthy creatures."

You're creepy.
Light would like to say it out loud, but doesn’t.
Admitting it would taste like bitter defeat—her danger is the only reason he’s still keeping her around. Or rather, isn’t she keeping him around for a purpose he hasn’t figured out yet?
"Nonsense."
The can of insecticide digs deeper into the fabric of her shirt as she leans back, pushing her body anywhere but toward the kitchen. Ryuk hasn’t followed them—at least, not yet. He’s probably still cackling with his new, terrifying companion.
The image of the spider creeps along Light’s arms—a relentless reminder of just how much he despises arachnids. But it’s not a phobia. Hell no.
"Even in the animal kingdom, there are small, clever creatures that manage to kill and eat animals three times their size… but the rule of big animal crushing small animal still holds true."
Then he looks down at her.
A small, far too innocent smile starts to bloom on his face.
"Someone could crush you, too. Beware."
"There’s something oddly poetic about coming home and cleaning out a cupboard infested with insects.
Or maybe the poetry is in killing those filthy creatures."

"I am not seeing things." Light says too quickly, his left brow twitching beneath a single, cold bead of sweat.
Ryuk is still toying with the spiderweb, delighted like a kid in a candy store.
Wispy threads dangle from his skull ring, swaying lazily — and somehow, they enhance the Shinigami’s spectral look.
Who's still the least monstrous monster in the room.
Light glances sideways. Yoriko is staring far too intently at the corner where Ryuk flaps and grins silently, like she can see him.
That damn big idiot.
"Don't give me a good reason to get violent with whatever poor, misunderstood thing we've got here." He mutters, eyes snapping back to the girl. He starts pushing her out of the kitchen, the can of insecticide pressing between her shoulder blades.
"And I do not have arachnophobia."
"You do." Ryuk chuckles, a black widow crawling between his feathers.
Shit.
"There’s something oddly poetic about coming home and cleaning out a cupboard infested with insects.

An innocent spray of insecticide wouldn’t even seriously harm a normal human being—so, of course, it wouldn’t work on her.
But—the twitch in her eyes was just enough to give Light the satisfaction he needed to lower his chemical weapon.
Not that it could’ve been effective against any black widow she might’ve brought along as a welcome gift.
Light slowly turned in the direction the girl had waved to, and so did Ryuk.
The Shinigami flapped with a hint of curiosity toward a crooked corner in the ceiling, right above the infested cupboard Light had oh-so-carefully disinfected.
“Mhh. I think we really have company here, Light-o.” Ryuk grinned, bemused, clawing at silver threads—the glinting strands of a discarded spider web.
“What the hell is that?” Light backed off, eyes darting across the ceiling. Then—back to the girl.
“Can't you feed your monster somewhere else?!”
