Lightpaw, the soon-to-be Willow Keeper! (Played by Ishe)

How will Lightpaw lend to the creation of YAWRP's first unique high position? He will have to learn from his Clanmates to understand his own place in the world as well as help StormClan work through grief lingering from a battle before his birth. He may be young now, but Ishe has some interesting things cooking!

“StormClan, our dead are not gone. They are in the willow’s roots, in the lake’s lullaby, in the petals of each snowdrop.”

The Willow Keeper will become a unique figure within StormClan: a guardian of memory and caretaker of death. This role centres around tending to the Willow Burial Grounds, ensuring the respectful preparation of bodies, maintaining the sacred spaces where our dead rest, and providing emotional and spiritual guidance to the grieving. Where the medicine cat communes with StarClan, the Willow Keeper honours the earth-bound part of mourning - the physical body, the returning to the earth, the silence left behind.

“TalonClan has been a plague on our borders for seasons. Finchstar gave them chances they did not deserve – honour they had not earned – by trusting them. She sent our medicine cat to train theirs, placed their need for healing above our own. I treated their leader with the respect he had never earned when I carried his body back to their camp. What did we get in return? What have they always given us? Dead apprentices on borders. Lone warriors attacked in their own territory. And then – An ambush on the day of the full moon on the way to the whisperstone. How truly brave and noble you are, Nettlestar, to stand by your warriors after they cut out Finchstar’s final life before she had even healed the loss of the first.” She taunted, a lash of her tail as she spoke directly to the leader.

“Rogue patrol indeed. I ask you –" She turned her gaze back on the gathered warriors. “What is a Clan who act as rogues? Who disobey the warrior code at every turn? This is not a game, we gather here for a reason, the warrior code exists for a reason. Your presence here makes a mockery of us all. Is it any surprise StarClan doesn’t bless you with medicine cats, that you have to take them from others.” She sits, steadies her paws. “You may call yourself ‘clan’ but you do not act like it. Stand by those actions or don’t, the morality of rogues makes no difference to me.” - Rockstar.

The Newleaf gathering brings with it the eruption of long burning tensions. With StormClan's new leader disavowing their neighbouring TalonClan as as clan at all, and LeafClan's newest leader, Lynxstar announcing her intention to retake old territories.

One might hope fresh leadership would bring with it renewed diplomacy, but it seems the territories along the river are more fraught with distrust than ever before.

When your dad yells at the youth sports referee

Buzzardfall felt his pelt tingling with the kind of pleasure, love, and pride that he hadn’t felt since he first laid eyes on his kits sleeping soundly that first night in the nursery. He swallowed hard, tears crowding his eyes as Beetlebug and Ducknose were named warriors. With a purr as loud as a twoleg monster he pushed forward to press his muzzle to both of their heads in turn. “You’re going to be wonderful warriors,” He rumbled. “Just like your father.”

It took all the power in the world to give them their space, reminding himself that they would want to meet with their friends, choose their dens – and very much not be babied on their first day as warriors.

Removing himself suddenly became much easier when he saw Mousepaw’s striken expression. With narrowed eyes and a lash of his tail he stomped forward to stand at his daughter’s side, laying his tail over her shoulders as he glowered at Softfang. “You think because you’re deputy you can play games like this?” He snapped. Looking at Mousepaw he saw nothing but a bright, confident young warrior. How did Softfang see anything else?
