I'm not saying that the webtoon necessarily did a great job of choosing to prioritize, I think it did a b-/b job, or that improv isnt hard. I'm just pointing out the vast difference in informational volume. Three lines doesn't sound like a lot, but that's maybe a quarter of a panel, and you don't want to overly obscure the art. Plus since you've got a lot less dialogue to work with, it's a lot harder to encode information and preserve the quality of the dialogue. Sklonda inserting a line to talk about the family finances would be weird. Adaine rebutting goldenhoard by saying she had a panic attack would feel stilted and would demand a response from goldenhoard, taking up even more space.

Additionally, we're like 7 strips in. There's no reason for them to frontload all the information. There's no need to immediately get into the gukgak financial situation or the reason Adaine failed. There's plenty of time to get into it later.

I'd also be a lot less forgiving if it were a comic book or graphic novel instead of a webtoon which is produced much more cheaply and is going to want to focus more on comedy and has the additional difficulty of being very tall and narrow making it even harder to properly fit in dialogue. That being said, I really wish they'd done a comic book or graphic novel instead since webtoons really aren't a great format.

I think there is plenty to criticize in the fantasy high webtoon but I need people to understand how much easier it is to have complex characterization in a 2 hour episode that is almost all dialogue than it is in a comic where dialogue is all crammed into speech bubbles.

The funniest side-effect of Kate Mulgrew pushing for Janeway to not have a love interest(aside from her and Chakotay rivaling Spirk with the staggering levels of "how is that not intended as romantic" moments) is that they did have her be insane about men in her hollo-novels unintentionally creating a woman like my mom who can't keep a relationship going to save their life but reads so many cheap paperback romance novels they're buying them by the box at thrift stores and rummage sales.
