Joe Beninati: Alex, you referenced people reaching out from all around the globe, congratulating you on re-signing this deal with the Washington Capitals, a five year deal. Can you give us some specifics from your teammates, some of the texts that’ve poured in, maybe some phone calls. Who was the first person to contact you?

Alexander Ovechkin: Ah, it’s hard to say. I just turn on my American cell phone, and was Tom, Lars, Osh, Backy, um, almost everybody. Even Devo text me and said, “Congrats babe,” so. I know it’s been crazy times, but you know, I never forget this moment. And, you know, I’m pretty sure lots of guys, and all the guys happy that I’m back.

Do you ever get emotional about Ovi bringing up how Devante Smith-Pelly was one of the first ones to congratulate him on his new deal on both the phone and online?
