i like the bug in bg3 where npc’s mouths don’t move when u talk to them cause it’s kinda like everyone with a tadpole is speaking with each other telepathically and if they don’t have a tadpole, in some opportunities it’s kinda like you’re reading the npc’s thoughts. and i just think it spices things up a little

1. Which of your muses to do relate to the most?

okay this feels like a bit of a copout answer because i’ll most likely never write him at this point in his life -- but i’d say i relate to sebastian before his Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. he was a quiet, introverted book nerd, who pretty much focused all of his energy towards his studies which is a big same. and his friend group basically consisted of him and the extroverts who adopted him. and now he’s evil ! hopefully my evil character arc comes soon 😌

2. Which of your muses was an unexpected muse?

caoimhe was unexpected bc she’s very different from me and other characters i’ve written. a lot of my characters have some of me sprinkled in, or there are character traits you can see across several of them, but that isn’t really the case for her i don’t think ? the key things that come to mind are that she’s very charismatic and likes to be the center of attention, which... NOPE. LOL. i also gave her the character trait of constantly lying about her life and 90% of my characters only lie in more serious situations. 

3. Have any of your muses taught you anything in writing them? What?

i wish i could give a thoughtful answer about writing but i’m gonna ramble about forgotten realms lore instead -- which i have learned a lot about for the sake of writing backstories. elijah was my first character in the setting and i knew we’d be doing lost mines of phandelver so i was like ‘how do i get this man to neverwinter’ and it turned into a 5 page backstory, filled with information about luskan, its high captains, the arcane brotherhood in the past and its current state, waterdeep and blackstaff tower, neverwinter and the many-starred cloak... etc etc. 

for sebastian, i actually have a funny(?) story behind him. i really wanted to play around with ua’s psionic soul for sorcerer and one of the sources was a failed ceremorphosis process. and i was like ‘what the fuck is that’ so i did SO MUCH googling to find out what it was, why the mindflayers did it, why it might fail, how soon the transformation occurred, and it eventually lead me to a cinematic trailer for bg3 (the one with the guy turning into a mindflayer in the middle of town). and that’s how i learned about baldur’s gate! EA released like a week after that which was wild. i probably never would’ve played it without sebastian, so thank you sebastian !

i also did a bunch of googling for holden cause i really wanted to maintain as much of the expanse as i could in his backstory. which involved a lot of searching about realmspace and what life existed on which tears of selune, the asteroids and what planets and if it was possible to travel between crystal spheres.

the fact that elijah is my favourite out of all my d&d character’s and now i chose matteo for his fc while i’m currently hyperfixating on the medici.... i can’t wait to lie down tonight and think about future plotlines for two plus hours straight instead of going to bed
