John had taken a few more bites of his food while Sherlock was talking and once he’d finished, John stopped eating to answer. “Yeah no, the only emotions I’ve seen you express are anger, disgust, and the occasional bounce of glee when a new case comes up.” Of course, there had been that time with Henry and the Hound and Sherlock had the “episode”, but he didn’t bother mentioning it, as he knew Sherlock would not appreciate being reminded.

Sherlock shrugs. “Feel what I always feel, I feel fine, well,” he tilts his head a bit, “I get bored a lot as you know, but nothing out of the norm.” He looks at Watson and frowns. “You think I be happy?”

John furrowed his brow, not understanding the point of the question. “...Can’t say that I have...?”

His lips twitched. Sherlock always said he felt fine, but John knew that wasn’t true. But, he didn’t object, instead he nodded at the next statement. “God yes, you’re always bored.” He had started to chuckle but it was cut short from Sherlock’s question. John cleared his throat and shrugged. “I don’t know, you’ve never told me how you feel about...... things.”

“Course I am fine, why wouldn’t my mind be okay?” He watches the other before looking down. “Well sure that may be a surprise, but still, not all that shocking.” Yes, it was shocking. And at times Sherlock forgot he wasn’t around as much, hell, he had to get a new partner.

“C’mon, ‘course I know what they wear, you’re wearing it right now.” He had to admit though, he hadn’t seen a monk get murdered before...Damn it. “Fine, what’s the robe tell you?” He asked, still skeptical but at least a little more open minded.

“Because it’s all fucking impossible!” He nearly shouted, his emotions finally starting to come to head. It was too much, all of this was too much. How can he just believe that aliens and time travel were all of a sudden real?

John took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. “Look, I’m sorry but I can’t possibly believe this is real until I’ve seen some sort of proof.”

“Right, now I’ve seen it all. A machine that is actually an alive time machine, controlled by an alien who looks like a man. And I’m definitely not dreaming or hallucinating.” The last part was said sarcastically because, really, this had to be something other than reality.

John raised his eyebrows, clearly seeing that Sherlock was avoiding the question. “I didn’t ask if it was a surprise, Sherlock, I asked if it had an effect on you.” He clarified. “As in are you lonely, sad, mad? Bloodly hell I’d even accept happy at this point. I get that you don’t feel like normal people do but you’ve gotta feel something.”

Sherlock just shrugs as he continues to work. He acted like the other wasn’t there, or at least, not in his way. Hearing the question he comes back to reality and looks around and up. “Hows my mind? Why wouldn’t it be fine?” Sherlock as in a confused fashion. He was always fine.
