Hi just a quick warning that I talk about forced underage prostitution, and mention suicide, and mental health problems in this.

Hi so when I was eleven I was absolutely obsessed with The Hunger Games trilogy, and recently I reread catching fire, and mockingjay, and I just wanna talk about Finnick for a minute.

The movies really glossed over how tragic this boys life was, and the struggles he went through. In the books the characters talk about his breakdown, and him having multiple mental relapses resulting in him being in and out of the hospital in 13.

He spent a day with his wife before going back to fight a war, and ultimately dying before meeting his son. Possibly before even knowing he was going to have a son.

In the beginning of Mockingjay he obsessively ties knots on a piece of rope, (which Katniss notes how it’s too small for a noose) to the point of bloodying his fingers, and has disassociative episodes. He’s at rock bottom because the only person in the world he loves has been captured, and is probably being tortured by the same man who made Finnick go into an arena and kill children at only 14.

Not to mention the fact that he was forced into prostitution at 16. Where he had no choice because Snow would have killed his family had he refused.

I love Finnick Odair, and will never accept his death. He deserved better, and to be happy with Annie, and their son.

gifted kid burnout things that no one seems to talk about:

the raw panic of hearing about your potential, positive or negative

a weird brand of imposter syndrome where you genuinely think you’ve fluked your way through every success and you’re gonna be Exposed as a Fraud

never having learned how to study and having no idea where to start now that you need to

reading college level books as a kid but being basically illiterate now

dismissing your struggles as irrelevant because other people have it harder and i should be smart enough to handle this

feeling like you’ve lost all control over your life (maybe manifesting into depression, anxiety and disordered eating in a grasp for control over something)

being unable to decide on a career path because you could have had everything, only to watch those opportunities disappear as you fail to commit

me: i struggle to shut off at night so i could be shattered and still not fall asleep cuz i cant shut off my thoughts

me: i constantly feel stressed even though i have absolutely nothing to stress about

me: i feel like when i go out everyone is looking and judging you and even if i have to get up from, lets say, a table to put something in the bin, i have to plan a route there and back so i dont make a fool of myself

okay, so i kinda always accepted the whole nico coming out to percy on his own at the end of blood of olympus.

but it wasnt until the other day, when i read a post (https://myopinionhi.tumblr.com/post/627194520265752576/ive-seen-some-fans-complain-that-solangelo-was) and they pointed out how, there is z e r o sign of nico being in a place to come out to percy because weeks before he had to be FORCED to come out.

so now, as much as i still love solangelo, i just believe rick shouldnt have just boshed them together, instead given them some time, yaknow??
