that’s rough is the understatement of the century.   the memory is something you wish you could erase,   but the guilt you carry for it,  is something you know you deserve.   she was only there because of you,  she only got hurt because of you,  she’s dead because of you.   harry isn’t to blame,   neither is max.   you’re the one who didn’t listen to her father.   you’re the one who didn’t stay away from her when you knew you should’ve.  you’re the one who couldn’t catch her.   you save people everyday,   but when it counts,  you failed.   the news are talking about the disappearance of spider-man,  about how the city needs him back,  but grief has swallowed him whole.   he can barely be peter parker let alone be spider-man too.

❝    yeah.   rough.   ❞   is all you can manage in response at first.   you refuse to let it all spill out.   to let yourself crumble.    your brows scrunch up as your gaze raises,   confusion obvious.   an ounce?   jesus christ.   not what you expected at all.    maybe another   i’m sorry for your loss   (   you swear if you hear that one more time you’re going to explode.  )   or another   are you okay?   (   as if the answer isn’t obvious.   as if the love of his life didn’t lay dead in his arms.   ).    ❝    i don’t uh  ——  smoke.   but thanks.  that’s  . . .  generous.   ❞
