Just because it bothers you, doesn't mean you have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Changing the channel to an even number, Organizing your sock drawer or keeping a tidy house doesn't mean you have OCD. Compulsions and obsessive tendencies are not a personality trait.

How can I get my child who is diagnosed OCD, to be more involved with the children at his school and in our community ?
Thank you for your question! It is important to keep a consistent approach when teaching your child how to manage their OCD. The more consistent you are, the more their natural behaviours will be positively reinforced; when using reward based reinforcement it will encourage your child to work alongside their OCD. Keep in mind that every childs diagnosis of OCD is unique to them, finding what works for your child is extremely important for their development.

Cognitive, behavioural and emotional difficulties are located in the Prefrontal cortex. Which is regulated predominately by Dopamine along with Noradrenaline. Fatigue or lack of energy is linked to the deficient functioning of these two hormones in the Prefrontal cortex.

I think my 9 year old daughter is presenting with symptoms of OCD. Is she too young to be diagnosed ?
Thank you so much for your question! On average, children are diagnosed with OCD around the age of 10. although children can be diagnosed as young as five or six years old. In rare and more aggressive cases, children can display symptoms and be diagnosed with OCD at the age of 3.
