Every time I read Tolkien lovingly describing a piece of jewellery or how his faves wore their best jewels "on their brows", I feel slightly sorry for him that he lived in one of the rare moments in Western History where it was not ok for men to be covered in expensive jewellery.

bears in trees only works when we have something to prove. it is a project built on the premise that there is something revolutionary in caring so much it makes you feel sick. that the scar is good, but the story it tells is so much better.

left, right, goodnight! is a song about rebuilding yourself after finding out someone you held dear was happy to watch you suffer. it is a song about defiance and doubt and all of the other horrible things that come between you, and accepting what happened to you. despite everything, it is a song about hope. 

because we know that success is unlikely, but it could be monumental. and when you're trying for long enough, hope and hopelessness start to feel the same.
